I parked my car that has a NOBAMA bumper sticker at a MARTA station in Sandy Springs near Atlanta Georgia for two days. After my return, the whole car was scratched with keys on all sides. It will now cost me $2,500 to repair the car. Worse, there is no way to catch the criminals and punish them. And, now, I am really scared and worried to express my opinion through bumper stickers, fearing another costly damage.
Did anyone experience similar problems? What recourse do you suggest?
I have a sticker in the back window of my truck that says “Infidel”. It is right between my Gun Owners of America and NRA sticker. Taurus Judge on the inside.
A hunter's game trail camera should do the trick. Someone got a picture of a thug trashing a campaign sign last year with one of those.
I would point out that most of the people that come and shake my hand and “get” the bumper sticker are upnorth near the Harrison/Houghton Lake area. Nice people up there!
But back to the “pointers”....LOL!!
(I have a place in Harrison, but live near Livonia..singing silently...Elvis..In the Ghetto is closing in..
Move to Texas. With that sticker someone will wash your car and put a Thank You note on window.
ROFLMBO! Now thats funny!
A MARTA station? You were pretty much asking for it.
I agree to an extent...I think we should be ordering the stickers in at least a set of 10..and instead of putting them on our cars, put them on stop signs, yard sale signs, etc...and make it super hard to take them off.
Get an old car for couple hundred bucks. Then cover every square inch of it with anti-obama bumper stickers. This will most likely be an improvement over the as is paint job. Then park it all over liberalville and set up a hidden camera. do a youtube video with commentary. It could go viral and you could do regular updates on the state of the car. Have fun with it.
Sorry about what happened to your car. If you decide to go the magnetic-back sticker route recommended by some Freepers, this material can be bought in rolls from craft stores like Michael’s. Just cut the magnetic strip to fit and affix your sticker with something like Spray Mount.
Here in Nor Cal my car was once keyed just for having an American flag sticker.
I’d leave the key damage alone and make a new bumper sticker:
You keyed my car and nobama is STILL an a88hole!
I don’t put bumper stickers on my car except just before an election. Then I take them off after the election. I made an exception last year, because the incumbent DemocRAT Congressman couldn’t believe he actually lost. I put on an anti-Ortiz bumper sticker till about a month after the recount.
I had a very similar experience about 10 years ago on my way to Reno. I was driving on a rural road in my 4WD F-250 with a Bush sticker on the bumper (next to a country radio station sticker) when a fuzzy headed liberal looking guy in a Subaru with several stickers including "Save the Whales," "Save Mono Lake," "Green Peace," etc. passed me and then slowed way down.
The road had a lot of curves making it difficult to pass him. He kept hitting his brakes at every bend in the road while looking at me in his rearview mirror so I slowed down and let the fool get ahead of me.
He came in sight again as I came around the final bend before the road straightened out. He was still looking at me in his rearview mirror as a deer dashed in front of his Subaru. He hit the deer full force flinging it up and over his vehicle in front of a family with kids fishing in the river alongside the road. As he pulled over with severe front end damage to his vehicle I waved with a grin on my face as I passed him by.
Actually I recommend NOT putting bumper stickers on your car in any case. I used to have them on my car, but I realize that it really makes the car look kind of low-rent. I used to have: Work harder! Millions on welfare depend on you. And "I don't believe the liberal media". Never had a problem when I was living in Indiana, but when I would drive to Chicago, I got lots of dirty looks, tailgating etc. One guy almost drove me off the road, and I thought it was because of the stickers, but he was actually trying to get my attention and gave me the A-OK sign saying he agreed with them. So there's at least ONE sane, conservative person living in Chi-town.
oooohhhh it is to scare to speak. you cant talk agains obama because polite company will call you racist (or is that 1/2 racist given his mother?)
There are security cameras in public parking lots.
This is not the 1950s
What on earth are you talking about?
All I am saying is if you care about a vehicle and don't want to risk it getting keyed up or other vandalized, DON'T put political or controversial bumper stickers on it. If you happen to have any lefty friends and/or family, the same advice goes for them too. Human nature is what it is and people, particular the militant left, will vandalize cars as their form of making a statement.
It warms my heart to see an anti-Obama or anti-liberal bumper sticker, but anyone putting something like that on their car is taking a risk of having their vehicle torn up. I am just not willing to take such a risk with an expensive car, I don't want to deal with making insurance claims, and the worst of it is if someone does that to my car I probably won't even have any way of identifying and retaliating against the person(s) responsible.
Also, bumper stickers don't wear well. As they age they tend to look awful, and even removing them at some later date often leaves damage or the paint looking a different shade than the rest of the car. It is just not worth it in my view.
Take an extra bumper sticker, and put it on a liberal’s car.
The only place that I had a problem was after we moved to Myrtle Beach, SC from Charlotte, NC. I have had Sarah 2012 bumper stickers on my cars and boat since 2008 and drove in and around some of the worst neighborhoods in Charlotte without incident. Within the first couple of weeks at an upscale condo in Myrtle Beach, some lefty tourist ripped one off.
They might if you put NOBAMA stickers on their cars and those of their relatives.
I don't say it's easy or convenient, but you have to get a lot of NOBAMA stickers and slap them onto a lot of bumpers.
Oh, and windows too.
Bumper stickers DON’T age well, but some leftists put them on their cars and leave them as badges of honor. I remember seeing a car around 2000 with a Gore sticker on it. He also had a Clinton sticker, a Dukakis sticker, and yes a very old, faded Mondale/Ferraro sticker.
Welcome to the new “civility”. This was merely a legitimate act of political free expression.
Sensible advice.
