I hope not. Isabel wasn’t as big and it caused widespread power outages, loss of property and some lives.

Hurricane Isabel (2003)

Hurricane Irene (2011)

Pretty close...

Not all were over reaction, at least not in this area.

No, of course not. But a record number of people have been evacuated, and this isn't going to be a top-10 storm for overall damage.

It’s hell to pay for the comfort of the trees when they come down. That is what is killing folks.

Time will tell won’t it? Can’t fake nature. One of us will be right and one will be wrong, but I will believe the people and not the Commie news.

Thanks for telling me some storms have rain in them, lots of rain, I didn’t know that.

Funny thing is, one time we had a tiny summer thunderstorm over us that gave us about 5” of rain in 30 minutes, then it began to dissipate and the weirdest thing happened, it pulsated back and forth with light rain for an hour or so then began to build again. More lightning and thunder and another 30 minutes of rain. All total around 8 inches in a couple of hours. Some parking lots and streets were flooded for a few hours, parking lots stayed flooded for a couple of days. But I’m in FL, our rain drains away due to the sandy soil.

I bet we got more rain in that run of the mill thunderstorm than they get with this storm. I can assure you if there is another thread in the future and it’s a real hurricane I will be right here saying how dangerous that one may be, unless it’s not and it’s all media hype and propaganda.

I don’t need to take my boat or my weather station, why would I need to do that when there are hundreds of them in each state it is effecting? I posted the links, CLICK ON THEM, see for yourself.

Once it gets back over water then it might get worse.

IF it gets back over water, it could but highly unlikely since it is losing the warm waters of the Gulfstream.

I listened to some of Mark Levin’s show yesterday, and he was ragging on Obama for not taking charge. He was not using sarcasm or irony. He sounded serious. I could not understand what he was trying to convey. It was so odd, for a supposed brilliant Supreme court lawyer.

“US President Barack Obama on Saturday personally led his government’s response to Hurricane Irene...”

lol, lol, lol

They mean Obama dropped by, stood still for a photo-op, and said, “Call me if you need any help; my peeps will relay the call to the golf course, but don’t tick me off with any unnecessary requests that someone else can handle. OK? I’m outa here.”

Maybe not, but flooding here on the Eastern Shore is already starting to get bad and this bad girl isn’t supposed to really get here for another 5 hours.

What is making this a “record Number” is bloominidiot in New York and all his evacs.

Because of the estimates of “arrival” falling around a new moon high tide evacs around here are higher than usual when coastal flooding is being called for. The last time I remember Ocean MD being evacuated was 1985 for Gloria. I don’t think Chincoteague was evacked for Isabel, at least not the way it has been this weekend, but I had only lived here a short time and wasn’t as familiar with how to get info back then as I am now.

What’s the answer? I’m interested in what your read is on it. It’s obvious to me, not just on this thread, but in conversations with about a dozen folks today.

The stream is not a steering force. It is just added energy. This storm will be back over water but with a lab influence, and a jet steer.

Yep. With the way this thing is ambling up the coast, low-level flooding and damage to beaches is going to be impressive.

Looking at some of the coastal weather stations in NJ. The largest number I saw (Cape May) was 10 mph winds and 1/2 inch of rain.

Here in NE PA, we’ve had a few sets of rain (about 20 min each, 2-3 hours apart). Light breeze, if anything.
