BRAMWELL (WVVA) - The Mercer County Sheriff's Department has identified the suspected robber shot dead by a customer in a Bramwell convenient store -- and arrested his wife in connection with the robbery.
Authorities say the robbery occurred shortly before midnight Monday at the Pop Shop convenience store in Bramwell.
Police say 41-year-old David Douglas Roberts entered the store wearing a mask and pointing a shotgun. While in the process of stealing several hundred dollars, Roberts was shot by a customer in the store who was carrying a firearm.
Roberts died en route to Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
The customer was licensed to carry a concealed weapon.
Roberts' wife, 31-year-old Jessica Roberts, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with conspiracy and armed robbery. She was being held on $100,000 bond.
I do so love a happy ending.
Ditto!
Did you read your own post :)?
Fifth line.
Apart from the shock of the round hitting his physical person, I always like to imagine the surprise involved when some piece of walking filth finds out the world may be armed also.
I keep a .357 in the house, but it's too heavy to carry around.
my carry pea shooter is a .380 Colt Mustang...I would not try it with a guy with a 12 gauge if I didnt think I would get a clean head shot...preferably the back of his head...
I don’t always read the entire articles, as I have limited time and wish to get them posted. Thanks for the info. I usually read them in more detail later.
Yep. Most likely a CCW holder.
WV is a "shall issue" state.
That tends to get the day off to a good start!

Good shoot. CCW gives robbers a whole new set of calculations to deal with.
That old guy in the back corner of the store might just put one behind your ear.
Mine’s a .32 and, like you, I would want a head shot...in fact, multiple head shots just to be safe.
Might have been different if the EMT’s hadn’t decided to drive through Morgantown on the way :)
Not sure what you mean by "small caliber" ... my thinking is that "handgun" and "small caliber" are synonymous. ;'}
That said, there are several surprisingly compact 9mm handguns on the market that are quite concealable. The Ruger LC9 and SIG-Sauer P239 are examples.
kimber .45 all the way, doesn’t matter where you hit, he’s headed for the floor, where you can finish if required heh.
A both sad and good ending for sure. With the way things are going around the country it’s likely to be a more frequent happening. Being prepared is a key to survival,Both wife n I carry (ccw)
Hot damn , this is my kind of story.
Peashooter advice:
Keep firing until its clear he’s down.
If you’re not a large person, it’s hard to select the perfect carry weapon.
The mix of caliber, gun weight, and size, conspire against effective 2nd shots.
I’m slim and have a Sig P220 carry.
The key for me is wearing it at my 5:00 position (right, rear).
Good for walking, not for driving.
It’s NOT a small weapon, but very effective and reliable.(.45)
