I carry a small caliber handgun and my first thought upon reading this was that I wondered if my peashooter would do enough damage to prevent him firing back.

I keep a .357 in the house, but it's too heavy to carry around.

my carry pea shooter is a .380 Colt Mustang...I would not try it with a guy with a 12 gauge if I didnt think I would get a clean head shot...preferably the back of his head...

Not sure what you mean by "small caliber" ... my thinking is that "handgun" and "small caliber" are synonymous. ;'}

That said, there are several surprisingly compact 9mm handguns on the market that are quite concealable. The Ruger LC9 and SIG-Sauer P239 are examples.

There's a reason they call a .45 ACP round “A flying ashtray”. .45’s come in all sizes for the whole family.
:o)

You said, “I carry a small caliber handgun and my first thought upon reading this was that I wondered if my peashooter would do enough damage to prevent him firing back.”

My exact thoughts. I have carried a Ruger LCP (.380) for sometime. Is that enough gun? Well, yes and no. There’s too many variables in each shooting situation for a definitive answer.

So gun shopping I go. Over to the largest gun dealer in Kentucky, wanting something small in the 9mm caliber.

The only thing they had at that time was a Kel Tec PF-9. Kel Tec? Eww!!

Well, that money was burning a hole in my pocket so I bought it. Price was low, in the 260.00s or 280.00s, can’t remember and I had money to spare. Olive Garden time!!

The PF-9 is a bit larger and a bit heavier than the LCP as expected, but 100% concealed carry.

How does it shoot? I’ve put 50 rounds through it so far. No jams and deadly accurate at 10 yards.

I’m extremely pleased with the PF-9 and it’s a Kel Tec.... Eww!!

Try a S&W Model 641 5 shot .357 revolver with a 2” barrel and shrouded hammer. That little sweetie is my car and carry gun.
