DAMN
my favorite quote of the day so far, Philly area newsbunny saying with breathless emphasis over the radio,
“yes this area DOES have tectonic plates!”
I’m relieved, actually to think I’m not on a part of the earth that’s suspended over nothing
I was on the 11th floor of the (at the time) Crocker Bank building in downtown L.A. when I was a youth and a 5.6 hit. It was weird to feel the swaying and hear the walls creaking.
Lake Anna Reactor Ranked 7th most At-Risk for Earthquake Damage
The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission has ranked the earthquake damage risk at all 104 nuclear power plants in this country. The pair operated by Dominion Power, at Lake Anna in eastern Louisa County, come in at 7th most at risk on the list.
According to Jim Norvelle with Dominion Power, North Anna was designed to withstand a magnitude 5.9 6.1 earthquake.
It’s Bush’s Fault

You are correct and there are interstate underground pipelines spanning hundreds of miles; carrying chemicals, gases and petroleum products.
This map shows a conduit under the earthquake area.

In 1997 a man in our church gave me a 62 Gibson 12-string acoustic he had sitting in the closet for years. I’ve used it while playing on praise and worship teams since then. Leo Kottke? Oh yeah, he’s the man when it comes to acoustic guitar playing.
And the Alaskans laugh at us Kalifornians and the Japanese laugh at the Alaskans. You just probably do not want to be the one who gets in the last laugh.
Laz, everyone loves you - quit with the ‘fatal’ stuff...
North Anna (reactor) was designed to withstand a magnitude 5.9 6.1 earthquake.
(this is about 15 miles from today’s 5.8 quake epicenter?)

“The most interesting was the report of a mini-tornado near Dallas. Said no storm, but tornado moved in one direction and then reversed and moved in the opposite direction”
Sounds like an old fashioned dirt devil to me. Haven’t heard any reports of this here in Fort Worth today...only here on FR. If you have a link to a news report of this, please ping me. I would be interested to see it.
lol. I love that. Your son is on the ball.
Glad you’re OK....
I’m happy the quake missed you... glad you’re safe.
Long Island - thanks for checking in - glad you’re OK.
I was thinking of the old historic ones.
A little spice to that vacation? Glad you checked in and that you’re OK...
I haven't heard of any. I guess the media decided to go all Drama Queen about it and others followed suit?
Seems to me the last decent shaker was Easter Sunday, about two or three years ago? Or was it a Mother’s Day? Can’t remember except I had my in-law over. Of course that always shakes me up!
