DAMN
Not yet, but the evening news has not been aired. The Church of Global Warming is preparing its news release.
If there is any fracking for natural gas, drilling for oil, mining coal, hydroelectric dams or nuclear plants within 1,000 miles of the epicenter they will be blamed.
Windmills, solar panels and ethanol plants will all get a free pass.

I live in MD and the one time an earthquake hits I miss it because we’re on the freeway in the mountains! We heard about it up there and thought “that’s odd, we never get earthquakes that strong here.” Then it occurred to me that nukes can cause earthquakes, so we turned on the radio and the first thing we hear is “evacuations in downtown DC,” and we’re going “oh crap” until we hear that it was actually a natural earthquake. We came home to discover stuff knocked off desks and bulletin boards and opened drawers (and freaked-out cats!). USGS says it may cause more quakes in the next few days too, and Hurricane Irene is supposed to hit the Chesapeake on Sunday, so it’s possible we might get an earthquake and a hurricane on the same day. Talk about the Perfect Storm...
Meanwhile, all of California must be laughing at us for our over-frenzied reaction to a tiny 5.9 quake.
Best tweet about the quake: As all of DC leaves work at the same time, the United States experiences a brief economic recovery
Yes, HE has a way of reminding us who’s in charge.
You OK?
We're talking about the 'cane a-comin'... there may be time to have the boat pulled. Menfolk are out now until tomorrow, chasing tuna.
Hint.. To my left, the san andreas, direct ahead, the hayward and to my right the calaveras and lordy knows how many more that intertwine
California, a No Fault state, muh butt. :-)
This CA girl is wondering how a 5.9 garnered over 1,000 posts? Over here it's just called "Rock N Roll"!
a friend in my town sent out a txt at 4:39 PM for us pray for the people in the hurricane and the earthquake
the hurricane i know about but what earthquake ???
No I didnt feel a thing
Im in SE TN
ROFLOL!! Love it!
DEid you check the graves of the Founding Fathers ???
They have got to be rolling a lot in the last 2 1/2 years...
Just damn....perfect.
It shut down your federal government. I spent years in Bayarea, Loma Prieta survivor. The incompetence in DC is pretty disgusting, actually. People fleeing perfectly sound buildings to run out onto the streets, where all kinds of potential hazards could do them in. Talk about earth quake no no's. Had the Washington Monumnet toppled, it would have been the single greatest blow for freedom in our history with all the bureaucrats out on the mall.
This one was worth about 10 minutes conversation around the water cooler.
LOL. I’ve been in several 5+ in Oregon; turns the waterbed into a massager.
Because earthquakes of any magnitude are so rare there.
My childhood BFF who has lived in the DC area all her life, but has traveled quite a bit reported that this was her very first earthquake experience and it pretty much freaked her out. My sister in Alexandria didn't like it one bit either. LOL
If one like that hit here in Houston, I imagine the reaction would be similar.
Well, except that we're Texans, so we wouldn't be so much freaked, just amazed. ;-)
A steel reinforced concrete building is a steel reinforced concrete building. The only fragile thing in DC are its denizens.
Not at all... in L.A. they put them on giant rollers and things to allow movement. Huge difference.
If we draw a line from VA epicenter to CO epicenter how close to the center of the line is New Madrid?
VA is slow to anger, but when VA moves, the earth shakes!
