SarahPAC released the following statement:
Three years ago DC pundits predicted with glee the demise of Sarah Palin’s political career. This past weekend their tune changed, citing false information that she has made a decision and set a date regarding a future campaign. Any professional pundit claiming to have “inside information” regarding Governor Palin’s personal decision is not only wrong but their comments are specifically intended to mislead the American public. These are the same tired establishment political games that fuel the 24-hour news cycle and that all Americans will hopefully reject in 2012, and this is more of the “politics-as-usual” that Sarah Palin has fought against throughout her career.
PS – Kudos to CNN for setting the record straight and including Governor Palin’s own words.
Here is an excerpt from the CNN article by Peter Hamby referenced above:
Here she is, in her own words:
Q: When is a good time? Do you have a timeline?
Palin: I have said that that August/September timeframe is important for logistical and legal reasons to jump in there, but
Q: So by next month?
Palin: I think that just practically speaking that has to be kind of a drop dead time. Also, in fairness to supporters, who are standing on the timeline, and this is what I have told Todd over and over again, I don’t want to be seen as or perceived as stringing people along, asking supporters, ‘Oh don’t just jump in there on someone else’s bandwagon because I may jump in, so hold off a little bit.’ That is not fair to them. After another month or two goes by, they need to know who it is that they can jump behind. Now more than ever, everybody has got to get involved in this 2012 election. They need to get out there and campaign for their chosen candidates, its all the more reason to hurry up and decide.
A few moments later, there was this exchange:
Q: Will you know by the next time you are here in Iowa whether you will be in, over Labor Day?
Palin: I doubt it. By the next time I am here by September 3? I don’t know if within the next couple of weeks I will be ready for an announcement or not.
Q: So the end of September is no longer a viable deadline?
Palin: No, he was asking about my next visit here on September 3, if I would be ready for an announcement September 3. And I said I don’t know if I would be ready by September 3.
Q: So the end of September would still be your timetable?
Palin: That is still a possibility for a timetable. Yes, definitely.
I do not know what her plans or intentions are. Up until a couple weeks ago, I was fairly certain that she wasn't running. Now I'm not so sure.
Beck usually donates his proceeds after expenses to Wounded Warriors, ( possibly another organization) but you likely know that, too.
I don't follow him much so I was unaware that he donated his proceeds. That's very decent of him.
Exactly!

I don't go to Perry threads. I'll only support Perry if Palin makes him her veep choice. IMO, people are latching on to Perry because they are afraid. They think he is a "safe" choice. I don't deal well with people who lack the courage to do the right thing.
In other words, Perry couldn't be bothered to take on a rogue president bent on destroying the country because he had a day job? However, even though he still has that same job, Perry can find the time to travel the country lobbying for another job. Isn't that a whole lot hypocritical? Rick Perry, the same as other Republicans, failed to criticize Obama early on, not because he had a day job, but because he was a coward. Case closed.
Well, out of respect for my dear FRiend onyx, I don’t want to have a discussion about Perry on her Palin thread. I responded to a snarky comment about Perry supporters on this thread but that’s as far as I’ll go.
As for your insult about Perry supporters lacking courage, it was overly broad, unnecessarily rude, and based on faulty assumptions. I support both Perry and Palin. While you may be confident that Palin is running, I am not. That doesn’t mean I lack courage.
We need to raise the level of discourse during this important political season not lower it by insulting fellow FReepers who are loyal conservatives. We can disagree about Perry and agree about Palin without denegrating each other’s character, can’t we?
I don’t know who on here is a loyal conservative and who is a paid political operative stealthily working to defeat conservative candidates.
My point about lacking courage is that people are so afraid of Obama that they’ll grab on to any candidate they think may beat him, whether they agree with that candidate or not.
Sarah Palin is the finest candidate to arrive on the scene in a generation but many fear that she can’t win because of the job the media has done on her. I hate that others are giving into the media’s “political correctness” in that regard.
I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that should Palin get the nomination and we get a solid slate of tea party endorsed candidate for other offices, we will create a landslide victory of the size this country has never seen.
Everyone says they want to get the country “back on track”. Well, that is going to require some courage, faith and thinking outside the box of politics as usual. I’ll guarantee that if we go with one of the more “acceptable” GOP candidates, nothing but nothing is going to change.
Palin + Tea Party = An American Revival
Establishment GOP president + Status Quo Congress = NOTHING CHANGES
You’ve been here forever. You know how to examine another FReeper’s posting history to determine if they’re truly conservative or not. Saying you don’t know who is conservative and who isn’t is a cop out. I expect more from a class of ‘99 FReeper.
Certainly Sarah Palin is extraordinary and outstanding. That doesn’t mean those who support Perry lack the courage to do the right thing. Palin hasn’t declared her candidacy. So it isn’t “wrong” to support one of the declared candidates.
If Palin declares, it then becomes legitimate to ask why someone supports another candidate. Even then, any discussion should be about the differences between candidates and the pros and cons of supporting each and not about personal attacks on fellow FReepers.
FR can be “Palin Country” without denigrating loyal FReepers.
Read: “Fed Up!”
You'd at least hope so.
Before I knew what I know now about him,I thought he would make a good VP for Sarah. I never want to be that wrong again.
Even though I used Football vernacular, I might caution some Texans to stop thinking like this is a Cowboys,Aggies,Baylor, or any other damned Football game. This is our Country we are talking about, and if you lose the Football game you usually don't lose your Country.
I am a big fan of RFDTV so I know that all Texans are not unrealisctic, most know what the hell they are doing, and will treat this Election with the proper attention and not like out of touch Football fans.
Will I see you soon over on Perry threads, telling the Palin supporters the same thing? Because I can't seem to find a Perry thread that isn't saturated with Palin supporters posting trash about Perry within the first 10 posts or so.
May I respecfully request that you provide the same admonition of Palin supporters on the Perry threads? If civility is to be demanded (and I think that would be a good thing) then it needs to be demanded of all.
UPS you might want to stick to driving your brown truck. Your debating skills are less than stellar.
You wanted to know why Perry wasn’t taking on Zero while Rush and Sarah were?
It’s Rush Limbaugh’s job to take on Zero. He’s a political commentator.
After losing the election and quitting her job, Sarah Palin became a political commentator. It became her job to take on Zero.
Governors such as Perry, Jan Brewer and even our own Rick Scott are not in the business of sniping at Zero, it’s just not their job. Their jobs are to run their respective States.
So your argument of “where was Perry” is just plain silly. He’s in it now and he’s on the attack. Palin’s not in it now, is she?
Perry’s “gallivanting” around now, running for President just like Plain “gallivanted” around running for Vice President while she was governor. Sheesh!
And as you can see from my tag, I’m not even a Perry gal! I’m just a FReeper who’s been seriously disappointed by all the divisiveness around here. I’d hope that this smart bunch could debate the pros and cons of all our our primary candidates (and apparently several non-candidates) without sounding like a bunch of DUmmies!
Ditto that. I will personally make every effort to raise the level of discourse on the Palin and Perry threads. We must hold ourselves and each other accountable to the standards we expect of FReepers. This is an important election season. The liberals want nothing more than to divide us. If we keep the discussions focused on the candidates, we can avoid division.
I haven't been here long enough to exerience a purge and I certainly don't want to experience one now. If things continue down hill between Perry and Palin supporters, it could lead to that. A purge of one group or the other will weaken FR. Let's not put Jim in that position. We need all the conservatives we can muster to defeat Obama and his minions. Let's encourage civility and discourage personal attacks. We shouldn't have to ask Jim and the mods to police these threads.
I agree. I have felt in my heart for some time that she decided a while ago. Her announcement is a strategic move that requires timing and is not from any indecision.
Onyx, Thanks for fighting like a wildcat on these threads to defend Sarah. You and Jim were out with both fists tonight. I can only post when I can so I appreciate seeing both of you here defending the front lines.
Regards, Mr. Sol.
Thank you. You said that in about a hundred words less than it took me to explain it.
Political pros understand what Palin is doing, and so do savvy and well-informed voters. She's gaining a lot of mileage from all of the speculation without lifting a finger right now. Entering the race at this (still) early date would cause that to cease, and she would begin having to expend energy in an official campaign, which at this moment in time, would likely not benefit her chances of winning the nomination at all.
Conserving hers and her supporters' resources until such time as it does benefit her to enter the race, is just smart politics. Actually, it's brilliant.
Thank you for your kind words. I am amazed at the complexity of her strategic mind. She is so far beyond anyone in the field. Her opponents are confounded. Yet at the same time she telegraphs to the hearts of those who support her just what she is doing.
Have a good evening, friend.
Regards, Mr. Sol.
One can always hope. I believe that a lot of FRwwpers type things they would never actually say to each other face to face (unlike the DUmmies - they DO talk like they type).
Well said. But, that calls for individual restraint and reflection about both the substance of our posts and also how it will be perceived. Obviously, many of us have no desire to do either.
I have developed the skill to quickly scroll through post after post after post of one liner, knee jerk, vulgar / semi-obscene comments. They add about as much value to the board as does scrawling on bathroom walls.
And, if the past is a predictor of the future and this thread stays alive, I'll get me some flames for that.
Maybe even an invitation to hit the road - that's happened before, as well.
You're listening to liberal talking point hog wash.
