A Palin Announcement on September 3rd Looks More Likely
Big Government ^ | Sunday August 21, 2011 | Natalie Nichols

If the Republican Presidential race were a poker game, you could say that Palin, the underdog has remained in late position long enough to see the full ring, to expose the live ones. She’s learned their tells, and she’s seen some bust, but now it’s time for her to go all in with what looks to be a royal flush.

If you’re not a poker player, you may need a poker dictionary to decipher my analogy. And “they” think she doesn’t know how the game of politics is played. The good old boys just never realized that she wasn’t playing by their rules.

If, or rather when, Sarah Palin announces her candidacy for President; Republican polls will likely shift in her favor.

[...]

It’s looking more and more these days as if Sarah Palin will announce her run for the White House in short order. If you keep up with Palin’s history, you may come to the conclusion that there is no accident in her decision to go to Iowa September 3rd for what many believe will be her big announcement. September 3, 2011 is three years, to the day, that Sarah Palin accepted the nomination for Vice President and gave her famously rousing speech during the Republican National Convention.

[..]

72% of likely Republican voters say when casting their primary vote, they favor a candidate who shares their views over one who has a better chance of winning.

That turns the notion of people agreeing with Sarah Palin, but “don’t think she can win” from a negative, into a potential strength. They are going to vote for her regardless, thus, breaking the mold of the typical voter.

You're confusing celebrity with a demand to run for president. Paris Hilton draws crowds, too.

Do you read polls? They are not good for Palin.

If there is this huge demand for Palin, why did she get less than 35 votes at the Iowa SP out of 17,000 cast? These thousands of Palin supporters should have been willing to crawl over broken glass to vote for her.

Hi dearest Outlaw Woman,

Fund raisers? $35,000 per plate fund raisers to meet and greet the candidate?

IIRC, Glenn Beck’s ticket gate sales, (after expenses) goes to Wounded Warriors, just like it did when Governor Palin last appeared with him in Alaska.

Be well, GF!

>>conservative and in the other as an idependent? Sorry, you can't be both.<<

Don’t be naïve. I’m both an independent and conservative. What do you think independent means anyway? Independent from being a conservative? Independent from the conservatives who support Perry? What? Maybe you could enlighten by posting the official platform of the "conservatives" as it relates to the official platform of the independents.

Y’all are missing the boat here. Jimmy “rent is too damn high” McMillan is already in the race. All others should just step aside. Now.

You make a valid point. My dad gave me an autographed copy of Karl Rove’s book and I haven’t yet read a single page of it.

Positively Palin

Imho, Iowa is out of touch, and increasingly inconsequential.

Dearest Conservativegreatgrandma,

You know better than that! The Ames Iowa Straw Poll is FUND RAISER FOR THE IOWA GOP!

Governor Palin didn’t spend one dime on tickets!

She displayed all the honor and consideration for the declared candidates as she possibly could!

She was in and out in one day, but she sure attracted a whole lot of crowds and media attention!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You and I have had this conversation before. You were told then that Palin had chosen NOT to be involved in the straw poll and indicated that to her supporters. Not that being told again will change your mantra.

The crowds Palin draws are indicative of the support she will receive and the vitriol that she and her supporters endure which serve only to embolden are telling. The more lies the lamestream spew being proven wrong will serve to lesson their impact over time.

That doesn’t answer the question of why she didn’t get more than 35 votes out of 17,000 at the SP?

When the announcements are made is a completely separate calendar and has no bearing on when the primaries are and when the general election will be. Sarah Palin can announce whenever she chooses and she can announce that she’s running or that she’s opting not to run.

Rush’s comment about ‘playing politics’ about a political election seems like it may have been taken out of context or he’s simply wrong about it because everyone already knows when the elections are going to be and who the candidates are, whether they’re declared or potential at this point.

Well if you’re right then she won’t be nominated so no worries. The beauty of this country is we’re all free to support who we want. If Palin gets in, she’ll be my choice. You should support/send money/vote for whoever you support.

The Ames Iowa Straw Poll is a FUND RAISER FOR THE IOWA GOP!

Had attendees voted for Sarah Palin with tickets paid for by other declared candidates, that would have been mighty dishonest of them!

GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN didn’t spend one dime buying tickets, because she wasn’t there as a candidate!

Her name was not on the ballot and she wasn’t promoting a *write-in* campaign!

Sheeesh. What a red herring.

There is no way to put a smiley face on the Palin results at the SP. If the demand for Palin is as you say, they should have been breaking down the gates to get in to vote for her.

The free tickets mean very little because they're available everywhere--even from groups not associated with a candidate.

We are in a serious situation and it will be foolish to choose a candidate who is our worst bet to defeat Obama. Right now polling shows Palin will be our weakest candidate. I'm not willing to take that risk.

Because those thousands of Palin supporters were not allowed to cast ballots. In order to cast a ballot, you have to purchase a ticket for a fundraiser for the state Republican Party. Those tickets were quickly snapped up by party hacks who wanted to ensure their candidate got a good showing. That's how Ron Paul ended up in second place, only about 150 votes behind Bachmann. You think that is an indicator of how Ron Paul will do when the real primary season starts?

Then you had announced frontrunner candidates like Rick Perry and Mitt Romney who only got a few votes because they decided not to expend their energies on it, because it is such a worthless poll that is easily manipulated by party hacks.

Guess how well 2008 nominee John McCain did in the same straw poll back in 2007?

He got a whopping 0.7% of the vote.

And in 1987, Pat Robertson was the winner of this poll. Yes, the same Pat Robertson who claims that God diverts hurricanes for him.

So basically the Ames Straw Poll is nothing but a joke...a diversion to help get bored journalists through the dog days of summer.

The Iowa Rino fund raiser has been explained to you repeatedly. You choose to twist the truth. And even spread disinformation.
