President Barack Obama ditched the Beltway grind yesterday to seek the pleasures of summer on the beaches of Martha's Vineyard - by way of two helicopter flights and a trip aboard Air Force One. And a further government jet was used by Michelle Obama as she arrived separately to her husband, with daughters Sasha and Malia, just a few hours before he landed.
The President left the White House aboard Marine One on his way to Andrews Air Force base to hitch a lift aboard Air Force One. The President arrived on this wealthy Massachusetts island retreat as the stock market plunged and fears of global recession hung in the air.
Mr Obama joined the First Lady and their daughters who had landed at about 2pm, around four hours before his helicopter touched down. The extra transport will have cost taxpayers thousands in additional expenses to get her a few hours of extra vacation time.
The costs related to Mrs Obama’s solo trip mainly include the flight on the specially designed military aircraft she took instead of Air Force One, as well as any extra staff and Secret Service that had to be enlisted to go with her. She would also have had her own motorcade from the airport to her vacation residence.
The family are to spend 10 days in a rented compound. The President will be staying with his family at the Blue Heron Farm, a sprawling, $50,000-per-week estate with plenty of room for staff and Secret Service agents accompanying him on the trip. Mr Obama boarded Air Force One with First Dog Bo on Thursday as a new poll showed a startling loss in the commander-in-chief's favourability before he heads to Martha's Vineyard.

yeah right, barry cancel the vacation... lol. they say he is so good at politics, but really just the thuggish chicago stuff.. the messaging is not there or he would schedule a vacation just so he could cancel it later to show he is working sooooo hard. are they really this dumb?

Now separate jets. And this palace they're staying at in Martha's Vineyard is so huge they can each occupy a separate wing, and never see each other.
I'd say that this is the way a wife might act after her husband has been discovered having an affair.
This pure speculation on my part, but I'd guess Michelle found out that Barry was having a tryst at tee time with one of his pretty little golfing buddies.
