UPDATE 3-White House denounces Perry as Republicans target Fed

* Perry threatens Fed chairman, Bachmann also criticizes

* Remarks reflect intense political pressure on Fed

* White House says threatening Bernanke "not a good idea" (Adds fresh quotes from Bachmann, Obama, economist)

WASHINGTON, Aug 16 (Reuters) - The White House denounced Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry on Tuesday for his threatening remarks toward the head of the U.S. Federal Reserve that represented some of the most inflammatory rhetoric of the 2012 election campaign.

Campaigning in Iowa on Monday, the Texas governor said he would consider it "treasonous" if Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke "prints more money between now and the election" in November 2012 -- a fresh sign of the political heat the central bank faces as it tries to right the stumbling U.S. economy.

"If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don't know what y'all will do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas," Perry said to laughter from supporters in Iowa.

"Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, treasonous in my opinion," he said.

The White House responded by saying it is important for the Fed to remain independent, and jabbed back at Perry, who on Saturday entered the race for the Republican nomination to face Democratic President Barack Obama. Perry is already considered one of the strongest candidates for the Republican nomination.

The fact that the Fed said they would not raise interest rates for two years shows how political it has become. Such a statement is unprecedented.

“Perry’ love for the illegals will destroy the country even more than Obama.”

Not really sure where you have been. Perry championed and Texas just passed one of the strictest voter ID laws in the nation. Texas is now just one of seven states (yes only seven) that will not let a person vote under any circumstances without a valid government issued ID. The other states are Alabama, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan and South Dakota. The ACLU and the Dems are going nuts over over the new Texas law, which is fine by me.

you are showing your unbelievable bias, prejudice, and bad judgement.

Given the lock-step mormon votes in every election for Romney, and any other mormon candidate which epitomize "unbelievable bias, prejudice, and bad judgement", perhaps you should ask yourself why the over-heated response from you to my post.

FR was exposed to MittBot fever in '07 and '08 from mainly mormons and paid operatives...the only reason that hasn't happened recently is that the site owner has forbidden it.

BTW is "stick it some other place where the sun don't shine." an appropriate comment from a priesthood holder? ;o)

Although I usually despise Huff-Po, this article compares the immigration stance of Perry to Bush. Huff-Po hates Perry because of his stance on immigration.

Greyfoxx39, my so-called "over heated" response was anything but. It was a response that was direct and to the point and, IMHO, was well deserved given your assertions and blatant bias.

You blantantly misjudged me, and yet you still somehow want to make it my fault, and the fault of my faith.

I live in Idaho, I can tell you that support for candidates is not "lock-step" mormon on mormon. Most people I know actually look at the issues and try and decide what is best for the country and its constitution and then vote accordingly.

I apologize if you feel I was too crass...they were perhaps not the best words to use. But they also left no doubt in your mind about my feelings reagrding your prejudiced and judgemental comments about me...and I did also say "can it," and wish you would.

As I have stated before, and as my response earlier shows, on political and moral issues we are very, very much on the same page and need to be united in out stance against the true evil that is actively and willfully destroying our nation...instead of attacking other conservative, Christian perincipled, moral standing individuals because you disagree with theologicxal points.

There's a religious forum for that...in the fight for our country and our liberty, we should be working together if we are to survive.

I a more than happy to appeal to you on those grounds...because that is really what we should be doing.

Why is it fascinating to you?

Because of my own personal experience? I have been reading the comments on the major papers/sites for long before 2001 (and posting on FR for apparently 4 years years longer than you) and I have never seen this many negative comments about Obama, nor have I seen such few defenders of him in the general populace.

Obviously it's a positive trend.

Thank you though for telling me not to listen to the MSM, WOW I hadn't ever thought of that! =P /a

Seriously, watch where you're swinging your reply bat.

Just smart politics.

Let Uncle Ben know that if he announces QE3, that it's going to be a partisan political issue in next year's campaign.

And it should be, because QE3 would benefit Prince Barry by providing shadow “stimulus,” even though the Fed is supposed to be non-partisan.

So it's good to let Uncle Ben know that if he goes for QE3 he's going to get ripped savagely and repeatedly.

Fair warning given.

agreed. Interesting that O called Bernank to WH the day after like being summons to principal’s office. What I found most interesting no media leaks/releases of what was discussed. Must not have been good for.

Imangine: Benny said he was out of bullets and will sit out until after the election. O told him he needs the FED to print more. Benny said dont mess with me or I will sell all my bonds and securities. LOL

Perry steps up and calls Benny treasonous and O falls for the dare. expose the lie that FED printing is the only thing that has kept economy from crating for past 2 yrs, which it will soon or later imo. but I have been on the wrong side of this market for 2 yrs of QE1 & QE2. only made money last 2 weeks and May-July last yr.

LOL! I understood what you meant - and yes those comments would make us surprised because we hear the opposite daily. I didn’t mean to infer you didn’t know that - and it was good you posted what you read in the comments section - because it is encouraging. It’s those daily poll threads some post here that my comment was for - being feed the propaganda instead of what you commented on - real voters and what they think (on reuters to boot!). So thank you and sorry for the misunderstanding. Keep posting the comments!;)

Me thinks you protest too much, Jeff...my simple post was "Hmmmm...my guess is fellow mormon, Romney? No surprise there."

I fail to see how I have "blantantly misjudged you, and still somehow want to make it your fault, and the fault of your faith."

What "fault"? What "blame"? I simply have pointed out that mormons vote for mormons more than 80% of the time, and as I am in AZ AND a former mormon who has seen it in action, I can certainly assure you that is true.

I really fail to see how you can reasonably assume that my simple comment would prohibit our "working together if we are to survive."

I really wish you wouldn't take a simple comment and turn it into a persecution of you and your faith although I do understand why you would do so.

“The fact that the Fed said they would not raise interest rates for two years shows how political it has become.”

Absolutely. This was the most irresponsible move ever to come out of the Fed. Purely a political statement. Trying to save Obama’s *ss.

Actually, I hate those poll threads too!

You’ll find me on there quite often pushing two points:

“Day to Day” variations in ANY poll are meaningless, and the “strongly yes-strongly no” statistic is silly.

And anyway, those polls show 40+% approve or strongly approve even now! Disgusting. No way that those people at this point would ever vote for a Reagan today.

Given you posts in the past...we both know it was not a simple commnet...irrespective of your protests to the contrary at this time.

As it is, I am fine and willing to work with any patriotic American who is didicated to the constitution and the founding Christian and fundamental moral principles it is based upon.

If that is what you are about, then we're fine.

First, Perry didn’t threaten Bernanke: they were obviously humorous comments about “if he were in Texas”.

Second, siding politically through printing money is “almost treasonous.”

It undermines the Constitution to use a governmentally appointed position to support or undermine another candidate or candidates.

Exactly! And it's an insult for anyone who can think for themselves.

No way that those people at this point would ever vote for a Reagan today.

Good point! Shows how propaganda is working despite how some say they don't listen/heed it. What goes in must come out. That's why I hate them/media because they do have an effect on people-despite what some think.

Going through life with the 'finger in the wind' as a guide to one's direction or making any decision based on it shows one who is easily controlled - they have no rock solid foundation but thrown around by any wind. BTW, polls remind me of Dick Morris.
