ATF promotes supervisors in controversial gun operation
The three, who have been criticized for pushing on with the border weapons sting even as it came apart, receive new management jobs in Washington.

Reporting from Washington The ATF has promoted three key supervisors of a controversial sting operation that allowed firearms to be illegally trafficked across the U.S. border into Mexico.
All three have been heavily criticized for pushing the program forward even as it became apparent that it was out of control. At least 2,000 guns were lost and many turned up at crime scenes in Mexico and two at the killing of a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Arizona.
The three supervisors have been given new management positions at the agency's headquarters in Washington. They are William G. McMahon, who was the ATF's deputy director of operations in the West, where the illegal trafficking program was focused, and William D. Newell and David Voth, both field supervisors who oversaw the program out of the agency's Phoenix office.
McMahon and Newell have acknowledged making serious mistakes in the program, which was dubbed Operation Fast and Furious.

Hush money, plain and simple. That and to keep close tabs on them.
Same thing happened after Ruby Ridge and Waco. The agents in charge (both FBI and ATF) were almost to a man promoted.

These are the things that liberals rail against regarding corporations (you see it in the news and movies) trying to silence “whistle-blowers”.....but when gov’t does it...no problem.
Wtf!
The Peter Principle gone to extremes.
By the way, from my perspective, this attempt to silence them is called being an accessory after the fact.
In today's America, if millions were rounded up for orderly disposal, the authorities would promote those involved.
The participants in the Ruby Ridge murders got awards, too.
“In today’s America, if millions were rounded up for orderly disposal, the authorities would promote those involved.”
Uhhh - aren’t you assuming that the ‘rounders’ (pun intended) survived the responses of the ‘roundees’?
What complete and utter scum they all are. Rather than being promoted they should all be arrested and tried.
Gots to be.
Three ATF agents directly involved in an operation that let straw buyers buy guns that ended up in the hands of mexican drug cartels, let the operation get out of control, and get promoted for their efforts. Doesn’t that sound odd to you? Am I missing something here? What would you do with someone who you knew could take you down with what they know?
“Voth was an on-the-ground team supervisor for the operation, and last month he was moved to Washington to become branch chief for the ATF’s tobacco division.”
HIs first scheme is to allow tobacco to freely cross the border into NYC.
That is the way it is done at the ATF. The criminals rise to the top.
The SEC did the same, rewarded the employee that botched Madoff investigation. Very corrupt administration.
