Just donated to perry and bought bumper sticker & yard sign (I am in)

Posted on 08/14/2011 6:43:59 PM PDT by indianrightwinger

I just committed myself 15 mins ago. My first round donation is done. Was always looking for the winnable conservative candidate with extensive executive experience. Between Romney and Perry, choice is clear. Only other possible entrant is Palin and she interested me as a reform minded GOP Governor who was a VP candidate. While she may enter the race and be more to the right of Perry, I am not looking for the "right most" candidate.

Yawn. When the election comes, you do whatever you please. Just know that a purity vote for Ron Paul is a throw away vote that helps Obama.

In other words, narses, since we cannot guarantee a perfect candidate, we should embrace a candidate that perfectly guarantees the reelection of Barack Hussein Obama.

Oh brother, not the dreaded graph!

Do YOU Polybius, have anything better to do than repeatedly post that infernal graph? lol

Let the primaries begin, and let the best man (or woman) win. That's my take. And BTW, that graph is the summation of SNL propaganda. No doubt those numbers change dramatically once Palin throws her hat in the ring.

Regardless, good luck to you and your graph.

Over the last 30 or so years our major political parties have been shifting left. The dims and repubs aren’t our fathers dims and repubs. The dims have become communist and the repubs have filled the void and become the old traditional democrats. There is no republican party anymore. So we are faced with the choice between a comminist or a socialist.

really is a shame what has become of this country.

Fine. Whatever you say. This is starting to remind me of a college football thread, and I'm not much of a sports fan. Can't say I'm interested in Perry after getting a good look at his supporters and their 'charming' insults...even if Palin endorses him. Good luck.

Did you join Free Republic in 1999 and then take a 12 year nap?

Posting on Free Republic is a contact sport.

If you want to see "insults" check the archives for the flak I have taken on Sarah Palin threads over the last several months when I have pointed out that she has absolutely no chance of winning a general election.

I have taken as much flak as the Eighth Air Force did in 1944.

That goes for any other FReeper that has dared to claim that Sarah Palin is not Practically Perfect in every way.

One thing we real Texans also know is that we can speak our mind and not shut up just because someone things we should.

Oh and I remember having the same fights with McCain supports 4 years ago. I said the same thing then that I am saying now...I am not sure who you supported but in the end you are going to wind up with the same result if the GOP nominates another RINO. You have been warned!

I did not even give my own opinion on this in-state tuition issue. I have not made any firm conclusions myself what I think of it, so please use some discipline by not telling me what is OK with me or not. I do not feel qualified at this point to know all the legal issues or ramifications. However, I do not feel I need to jump on the bandwagon saying this is dangerous or senseless or just completely wrong either.

As I study this issue, I am glad to see these are not just random illegals that are busting into the country getting a free ride. These are young adults who, as soon as they are of age to make an adult decision, request American citizenship, go through the same hard process any immigrant desiring citizenship goes through, and who works hard to pass all the citizenship requirements.

I hear so many people say one sentence about something of the other (of ALL the candidates) and say “nuff said”. Well no issue is so small that one sentence is ever “nuff said”. “Nuff said” remarks scare people and cause them to just take misinformation as information or get scared out of their wits for no reason.

I forgive you for trying to label me as you did, for yes, I DO have some empathy to children who had no control over what their parents did but who wanted to do the right thing themselves. However, I will continue to do my best to provide information to others who may not know everything involved in the hopes that they will dig further into the subject and get more information for themselves. I gave information you may not have wanted to be public because it muddies up your point of view, but as far as I’m concerned, people knowing it ALL is much better than being a simplistic know-it-all who can put their beliefs, values, and concerns into one little sentence or thought. Nuff said?

I’m trying really hard to figure out who to support. There are things I like about several of the candidates, but frankly none I can just say, “this is the one, no holds barred”. I’ve been aware of Perry for a long time, obviously, since I lived in TX while he was in office and in other offices. He has baggage that concerns me. I had hoped he wouldn’t even get into the race. I know what he’s saying now is very compelling, and if I knew nothing else about him I would very much like him.
But yes, if they think they are winning followers here I think they are sadly mistaken. But this is not uncommon. FR has given me a very tough skin.

Then, we can fight for other things.

Another RHINO is not going to get us "other things" except the same old crap we've been seeing time and again. Not this time! NO MORE RHINOS! Perry is one.

No,
I am not OK with another Obama term, but if the GOP puts up another rino you run the risk of him being re-elected.

If we had a good solid conservative 4 years ago Obama would probably be a foot note in the history books. Instead, same crappy GOP rino nominee and we all got Obama because of it.

I think you're referring to me and I would love a discussion about it, but there are clearly freaks out tonight that cannot handle a rational conversation/discussion. I simply wonder if it is better to rip off the band-aid. Even though a third party vote puts obama back in the White House, I want to fight the second American Revolution so that my kids don't have to fight it. They will have to fight it if I vote for a RINO, because the Republican party is simply driving us toward socialism at a slower speed than the Democrat party.

I'm not accusing Perry of being a RINO. I'm from Ohio and I will have to do a lot of research on him before I commit. I will not vote for someone just because some FReepers from Texas think he's awesome. However, if he does not do what he claims he will do, we are stuck with him for four years. Four years of, “Well, I'd like to repeal the healthcare bill but it turns out it's a lot more difficult than we thought.” That's four more years on my children's ages. That puts them closer to having to fight the battle. I don't want them to have to fight for their freedom. I'd much rather do that for them. Oh, and I'm a “her” by the way, lol.

Facts, who wants to listen to facts when we can talk about how we feel? Very apparent to me there are either a lot of DU types coming over here to stir the pot or a lot of very uninformed folk speaking out of their arse. Perry isn’t for open borders so people either need to give it a rest or do the research like you have. Thanks for the post.

LOL brythlea,

You’re sure right about Texans speaking their minds! We have enough of them here in Texas that we’re bound to have different opinions, and as per Texas pride, they’re probably all BIG opinions too! :)
