I just committed myself 15 mins ago. My first round donation is done. Was always looking for the winnable conservative candidate with extensive executive experience. Between Romney and Perry, choice is clear. Only other possible entrant is Palin and she interested me as a reform minded GOP Governor who was a VP candidate. While she may enter the race and be more to the right of Perry, I am not looking for the "right most" candidate.
Another fool here who just donated to Perry...
LOL!!!
While you’re right, 4 more years of Obama are unthinkable, I’m going to fight hard during the primary time to get an excellent candidate to run against him. After that time, I’ll work hard to get whoever that candidate is elected. (and pray for no third party, what a disaster that would be).
3-term Governor, yes. He is undoubtedly a career politician. Sucesssful? Well, his fan club can point to "Texas created more JOBS!!!" over and over again, but unfortunately for them, that happened long before Goodhair ever took office.
>> who, unlike Palin, can attract a large number of independents <<
Right. That's why this guy gets 40% of the vote against laughable "opponents" in a safe Republican state. Somehow, "independents" are flocking to him. We just haven't been able to find any yet.
You forget that lots of people were perfectly happy to vote Perot and get Clinton, just so they could send Washington a message.
I'm not sure what that message was. Bill Clinton threw the message away. Bush I, Bob Dole, and Bush II didn't seem to read it, either.
I guess Ralph Nader read it, though, and he did save us from Gore and Kerry. Fortunately for us, people on the left were just as happy to throw the election to Cowboy Boosh and Darth Halliburton, so they could send the Democrats a message.
I guess it's our turn to vote for the Super Awesome Party, to send Obama's second term a message, and then maybe President Barney Frank or President Chuck Schumer a message.
Yeah, messages!
Cue the 3rd party crybabies!
Waaaaaaaah, I didn't get my way. Waaaaaaaah, the primary voters don't agree with me so it must be a conspiracy to keep my views suppressed. Waaaaaaaaah, I'm going to flush my vote down the crapper on some 3rd party nobody with exactly zero chance to win.
Geeze, let it go already. 3rd party voting is a cop out and a wasted vote. Our winner take all system just doesn't easily allow for 3rd party's because we can't build parliamentary coalitions.
My point exactly.
And they let use use a 'puter? That must be a pretty liberal facility.
That’s what I’d like to know. Let’s see each one vetted thoroughly first.
Romney was not my favorite. However, as I have said in my posts a year or so ago, if it came down to Palin vs. Romney, I would have gone Romney (for pure electability and less polarization reasons).
Now, I don’t have to face that ridiculous choice. :-)
But tea party types aren't angry, he said. We're indignant about big government hurting companies. We're indignant about [the fact that] Washington would take half of what you have worked for in what we call the death tax.
We're indignant about a president who goes on an apology tour instead of talking about American exceptionalism, He seems to still consider himself part of the tea party, although I guess you don't. He was endorsed for Governor by another tea party favorite.
;o)
Perry isn’t that bad. Let’s see how he campaigns. I prefer Bachmann, but Perry may be acceptable if it comes to that.
On the other hand, if the RINOS don’t support the conservative, then they are also splitting the vote and it will allow Obama to be elected. It works both ways. Demanding a half-assed candidate as a condition of being elected is also a losing strategy.
Conservatism prevails every time it is tried.
McCain is proof that accommodation fails.
If your enemy wants your $100.00, and you compromise and give him $50.00, he gets half of what you have. The next year, you can compromise and give him 50%, he will get another $25.00. The third year, he gets $12.50 and you have $12.50, and your enemy has $87.50.
Such is the result of compromise. Such is the result of voting for RINOs. However, the RINOS feel good about themselves when they write out the checks.
Yeah, it is amazing, isn’t it? You’d think the majority of us Texans really hate him by listening to the four here on FR that actually do. The proof is in the puddin’. We have jobs, low cost of living, no state income tax, and the least number of illegals entering our fine state per square mile than any other border state. Those involved with the smear campaign against Perry can just go EAT IT. TEXANS FOR PERRY 2012!!!
Perry, the RINO version of Obama. OK, maybe not as rabid a Communist as Obama, but he sure as Hell isn’t pro-America. He’s pro-Mexico.
