More votes for Perry than Palin in Iowa Straw Poll

Posted on 08/13/2011 5:35:56 PM PDT by Minus_The_Bear

Rick Perry who just announced his candidacy received more votes than Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.

How much longer can Palin just drive around the country not doing much of anything and still expect to run for POTUS?

A potential candidate without the organization to even manage 100 write in votes looks really really bad.

The TRUTH is the Palin supporters here are constantly whining about how Palin is persecuted and how she's been victimized by "the establishment".

I've never heard either Palin OR her supporters "whining" about how she's been victimized. I hear them explaining how her perseverance, cheerful demeanor, resourcefulness, and continuing support all over the country despite her treatment, reveal her as the natural air of Reagan.

The only ones I hear whining are the shills, whores, and flacks for Dems or for other candidates who whine that "she's too damaged so she can't win."

Learn to brush up on your projection-based slander. You suck at it.

Here, it looks like you need one of these.

General *PING* to post #158 this thread.

Can someone verify the links related to our friend the bear...?

Not very tasteful, nor yet classy, there, Minus.

Cheers!

Do you remember the vast number of specious ethics suits filed against her in Alaska?

Including one claiming that her exhaustively-vetted-by-lawyers legal defense fund was ITSELF illegal?

And why? To distinguish it from the fake "legal defense funds" expressly created to siphon money away from her defenders and into the hands of her political enemies, it was called "The Official" Sarah Palin legal defense fund: and for that they accused it of being illegal.

She was made to return the money, but she was able to document so much prior consultation with lawyers at every step of setting it up (it was a virtual carbon copy of some other East Coast politician's fund) that they couldn't accuse her of malfeasance.

So of course she's goint to be careful about announcing, fundraising and any "conflict of interest" / "improper use of money" issues.

And the easiest way to handle that is to postpone the run as long as is practicable.

Cheers!

What state are you in?

If he's honest and not a paid disruptor, then he's in denial.

Fear of Palin induces a LOT of it.

Cheers!

Windy, Windy, Windy...

You absolutely MUST sell me some of that cologne you are wearing. All these PDSers drooling all over themselves to get at you and you didn’t even bother to call? I’m hurt! Share the love man! ;)

Oh and Minus? Yea that whole “Palin got no votes” thing? Let me ask you one simple question. But first, lets set you...er I mean this up.

Upon her arrival until her departure, Palin was utterly mobbed. Other candidates were left at the podium and cut short speeches when throngs of people left to stand DOZENS of yards away just for the POSSIBILITY to get a glimpse of Palin.

Now, Perry was known to be running/announcing. Palin was not.

Now, Votes cost money thanks to the GOP being FRIGGIN BROKE since the majority of conservatives are not giving them any because many said they are specifically sending it to Palin the day she announces.

Now, since people aren’t going to throw money away on a meaningless vote that matters NOT ONE IOTA, why exactly should a single person spend $30 for ANY candidate, much less one who told them all that she was there to just shake hands and have a bite to eat? Oh wait... You seem confused lately...

“Her constant vacation isn’t helping the country or the conservative cause.”

“Palin missed her chance. She isn’t seen as credible. “

“If Palin was running you might have a point but it doesn’t matter. Palin isn’t running and she’s just another average person.

So why would a constant vacationing, average not credible average person get any votes? She missed her chance after all. You said so.

That being the case, and it is, because those are your words, why are you even bothering to waste your time arguing with all these crazy people? You said she’s just an average person on vacation. Lots of those there yesterday. Why single Palin out? None of those people were on the ballot or got votes either.

Please help me out here. What’s your purpose?

Because the goal is to tamp down enthusiasm for Palin by badmouthing her in anyway possible because they fear her and see her as a threat to their candidates.

Bingo!

>Plenty of time.<

Your right. there is time for her. But if she is going to get in the game it would be nice to know it now. A lot of people have very limited financial resources to devote to defeating Obama. With so many candidates asking for money people are spending what they have in hand now. If she is going to run, it would be nice for her to get in on the cash while it is there for many people.

I hope Obama faces his own primary to deplete some of his cash reserves and make the eventual GOP pick that much more financially competitive.

The money is going to make a lot of difference in this election. Not that any republican is going to match what Obama will pull in through his corporate ties. But still, every bit would help.

Remember the last election - obama bought like 30 minutes airtime making it seem as if he was giving some state of the union address and it boosted his poll numbers like mad.

That was priot to his 2.5 year swath of destruction. All the ads and speeches (that even libs are sick of) cannot save him. I understand your concern, but this is a totally different dynamic at work for the dems. Spending fortunes on ads will likely be equated to spending the fortune of America.

As for SP, I recommend reading Sun Tzu’s Art of war and your very legitimate concerns will be explained.

yup ... exactly.

isn’t even worth making a comment anymore on reality. People see what they want and get down right nasty if they don’t read what they want to see.

>Spending fortunes on ads will likely be equated to spending the fortune of America.<

It could certainly be spun that way. There were a lot of things that could have been done in the last election that would have saved us all 3 years of grief.

Will they do it this year though. I think a lot of people are very disappointed in the lack of courage and determination that has been shown by the GOP.

Last election if Mccain had a stroke or something and Sarah had taken over she would have won.

face it, too many people are not following the candidates, they catch political news in sound bites while changing channels from Dancing With The Stars to American Idol.
Too wrapped up in their own daily trials and problems to really worry about much else.

Thankfully .. or more to the point, tragically. Most Americans are far worse off now than they were before “hope and change” got it’s chance. So they will vote for anyone but Obama.

I just hope that we get someone better than a RINO. Someone who is not afraid to ruffle feathers and turn the tide back.
Even if it is an unpopular decision, if it starts bringing the country back on track, people will appreciate being in a better position later.

I think (hope pray) that as the decline continues (and it surely will) that people will feel the pain and place it where it belongs. We have a long way to go yet and Obama is going full steam ahead. Libs are rebelling now. Even Dowd is penning critical articles. Unheard of even weeks ago.

I gotta believe that he crumbles along with the Dems. If the American Public is/are that stupid, then it’s already over. We just haven’t got in the coffin yet.

Iowa straw poll has predicted 5 of last 8 GOP nominees
and 6 of last 8 Dem nominees

that cannot be dismissed as purely “nothing”

I would like those odds in business

>We have a long way to go yet and Obama is going full steam ahead. <

yeah I noticed everything is back to the norm. he hit the golf course yesterday for 18 holes ... I guess gearing up for his vacation.

I can’t see how people won’t blame him for the pain.
He has worn out the blame bush card. The race card. and his recent blame of everything on the planet for our AAA downgrade was pathetic to most everyone. When Chrissy Matthews becomes disenchanted Obama has a problem.

Though I see that congress is not fairing much better with Boehnner in the polls.

Everything becomes perception at some point. People are numb to it all now and will take what they are given.

Moreover, I am not sure if that is good or bad. It would seem that 10% of the voting public is going to determine who leads our nation and what direction we will be taking. They cry the loudest so they get the attention. the rest just kind of go along with it.

Maybe .. Obama was a good thing. If you think about it, it really did awaken a lot of people as to the dangers that liberals bring. I hope that enough stay awake long enough to make it through November ‘12. If not, like you said, all that is left is to decide what the box we place the once great flag in looks like .. plain pine or something a bit more elaborate with brass handles.

But we have to stop this in fighting. Nothing could possibly help Obama and the dems more than that.

troll has been here 7 years

everyone who doesn’t support Sarah Plain is not a troll

they simply don’t support Palin

which last time I looked is ok here...even JR hisself congragulated Bachmann heartily on the big thread

now if you guys can cook up that bear is a 7 year sleeper Romney plant then you might be onto something

Ardent Palin supporters should be able to defend her short of the troll and zot defense wouldn’t ya think

and why use up you ammo till she actually enters

Perry did outscore Palin as write in...does it mean anything...hell if I know...people are all over the place on this stuff...I think Perry, Palin and Bachmann split the same shares to some degree and I’m happy a social conservative won...we never place this high since Reagan

but who knows...we have plenty of Giuliani exile returnees here now to support Sarah Palin who is about as 180 degrees ideologically opposed to Giuliani as one could be

begs the question...is it politics or persona for many folks?

it’s ideology for me but must not be for some others

yes...Pissant’s tuna comment did not help him much..lol

I forget who Piss liked actually....it wasn’t Romney or he woulda been gone way back...I can’t remember...Cain maybe..or DeMint

I agree totally the infighting has to end, or at least mellow out to rational levels. But the reality is that there are willful disruptors. The general Freepage has to just flatly reject them wholesale. But until then, all any of us can do is deal with them one on one, lest they run roughshod.

“Moreover, I am not sure if that is good or bad. It would seem that 10% of the voting public is going to determine who leads our nation and what direction we will be taking. They cry the loudest so they get the attention. the rest just kind of go along with it.”

Trolls and congress alike. And that’s why they have to be stopped. People have to hear the truth and usually recognize it when they do.

I truly wish it was different.

In elections when there is a sitting Democrat as President, the Ames Straw Poll has correctly predicted 2 out of 5 caucus winners. Bob Dole in 1995 (who was tied with Phil Gramm) and George Bush in 1999. Of those 5, they correctly predicted the Presidential winner only once.

That doesn't seem very impressive to me.

Sorry, let me correct that by saying not just during a sitting Democrat as President, but also at the end of a double Repulican tenure, such as Reagan and Bush. I still don’t think prediction value here is very impressive at all. Other people may differ.
