Bachman bests Paul. Pawlenty third. Romney fourth. Works for me!
Straw Poll — anything like straw man? Thanks DRey.
“This may put Bachman into the first tier with Romney and Perry”
By acknowledging the concept of “first tier”, are you not playing their game? And what defines “may”? Surely whether the TV says so
I think of the Ames Straw poll in the same way that I think of Opening Day of the baseball season.
Before the first pitch, everybody is in first place, and every fan has hopes for a successful season.
At the end of the day, half the fans are disappointed, and it is downhill from there.
Perry/Cain or Perry/Bachmann. Sorry Sarah but stay the motivator for the TEA Party.
To parents who were Cuban exiles. Therefore:
The Government of Cuba does not recognize the U.S. nationality of U.S. citizens who are Cuban-born or are the children of Cuban parents. These individuals will be treated solely as Cuban citizens and may be subject to a range of restrictions and obligations, including military service. Source
Hence, by the standards of US law, Rubio is not a Natural Born citizen, whether we like it or not. You deliberately chose not to address the question at hand in your reply. IMO, that is disingenuous at best. Throwing insults on top as a cover is even worse. That's not very smart in dealing with me.
Rubio is a very attractive leader: handsome, smart, serious, and articulate, but he is ineligible to be President. I'm sticking with the law even if nobody else seems to care. Don't like it? Then amend the Constitution. Ends don't justify means, which means we are not like Democrats. Are we?

There is no need. The Supreme Court precedent set by swearing in Barack Obama indicates that anyone born in the United States would be considered a naturally born citizen. If Rubio ran as Vice President or President, the Supreme Court would swear him in exactly as they swore in Barack Obama. What this means is that you and the Supreme Court differ on the definition of the phrase "natural born citizen.", not that the Supreme Court has broken the law.
The fact that you don't agree with the non-Vitter definition the Supreme Court uses won't stop Rubio any more than it stopped Obama. The law was unclear before, but it is settled by precedent now. At this point, we'd have to pass a law to stop Rubio, not to help him.
What does the Cuban governments recognition of someone’s citizenship have to do with it?
If he was born in the US, he’s a US citizen...
She’s raising lots of money. She held her own in the debate. She did well in the straw poll. She is getting lots of name recognition.
Maybe according to customary US administration and a bogus SCOTUS ruling, but not according to the Constitution. Moreover, there is a difference between a naturalized citizen and a natural born citizen, which is why Hamilton was ineligible (which was the point of the language).
I couldn’t agree with you more.
Bachmann wins by getting only 152 votes more than a crazy loon....... now that would be funny if our times weren’t so serious.
At last. A post I agree with 100%
***Gingrich 385***
I forgot about him. Maybe he should just write a book to pay back that Tiffanys money, and call it a day.
I hope that Pawlenty finally goes away I can't stand that liberal POS!
That’s because it isn’t true and MittWit fake conservatives like you going around repeating it and insulting actual conservatives won’t ever make it true.
I went to the Washington Caucus they were too passionate!!! Like foaming at the mouth types!
I understand where you are coming from with that argument, but today is MUCH different and face it, legislative experience is nothing in getting elected now.
As a prime example I give you the pResident now.
He did NOTHING at all and got elected.
He ran against Bush .. no that is not a typo. He never ran against Mccain .. he was always comparing himself to Bush.
Bachmann is doing the same thing. She is running herself against the worst leader our country has ever seen. And she is making a very stark contrast to him. She is well spoken, has been an established leader of the TEA party, add the female factor (which was BIG for HRC) and I think she can do it with ease.
Nothing about this is going to be easy. I wish I could agree about Bachmann but I just don’t see it. There are other more experienced conservatives running or going to run who would give Obama a tough go.
Agreed that Obama was an empty suit but I have higher standards for our movement. Bachmann should run against Al Frankin instead and do the country a real favor.
He is a nut job. Once he gets off the topic of the economy it is all over for him. he is out of touch with everyday americans.
Although he may make some really good decisions in an economic venue and actually be of service to the country in ‘12 as a cabinet member .. but only limiting his input to economic matters. I could even live with him in that position .. but he is like Rain man ...
thanks for the input Barack, I didn't know that you participated on Free Republic
