Santorum: Bright, upbeat, yet strong. I think he commanded attention, once he was allowed to talk. His one flaw was he drew attention to the fact that he had to fight for the attention. I can't see him moving into the upper tier, but I actually could see him on a ticket.
Romney: Having seen him campaign and then govern as a liberal in Massachusetts, I don't trust him on the issues. But then, I also don't see him crusading for lefty domestic issues the way Bush did. What impressed me in 2008 was how sharp he seemed, and an impressive resume that combined executive governing experience and real-world business experience. In this debate, however, he didn't seem so far ahead of the crowd. I think the crowd got better than McCain, Giuliani, and Huckabee and Paul. I think he's still the front-runner, but he'll be in jeopardy as the anti-establishment candidates fade away.
Pawlenty: Gettign tangled up with Bachmann just seemed pricklish and unpresidential... a personality flaw. And this coming from someone who previously has shown all the personality of a #2 pencil. Stick a fork in him. It's too bad; he's good on immigration, pro-life, etc., but Bachmann made him seem like a waffler even on pro-life issues.
Paul: His case for drastic cuts in government should seem all the stronger in 2012. But what kind of fool spends a Reoublican Presidential debate defending Ahmadinejab? He sounded more Berkley than Washington. n A joke.
Huntsman: Made Pawlenty look like Reagan. And going after the teachers' union's votes was just wierd. (Psst, Huntsman: conservatives don't like the spendign of No Child Left Behind. Can the horror at teachers being held accountable.)
Gingrich: Wow! He came off as the passionate fighter of the debate. His fight with the moderator was Reaganesque and his attack on the budget supercommittee was perhaps the greatest moment I've ever seen in a political debate. Too bad for him he's unelectable; he might have veen had me forgetting his strange flirting with liberal issues like global warming.
Cain: Didn't come off very charismatic at all. He simply seemed like politics wasn't his chosen career field.
Bachmann: Being ganged up on might have actually helped her show a presidential side, if she hadn't flubbed describing why she accepted the Pawlenty tax hike. Otherwise, she seemed strangely lacking in charisma, and hardly seemed over-flowing with ideas. Not bad, but not good enough to gain on Romney and hold off Perry.
Pleeeeeeease Sarah, pleeeeeease!
romney is a unelectable
Let me try that again
Romney is unelectable
I liked Santorums clear informed answers. I also liked his passion and scrappyness. Him slamming RuPaul was fun.
Too bad he can’t raise his profile any. Poor name recognition.
Your assessment of the candidates from the debate is pretty much spot on.
Biggest loser — Pawlenty.
Winner — Gingrich.
There is just a gut thing about Romney that never sits right. He is not bad looking and he seems pretty intelligent and sounds ok, although I think he is a Rino and socialist sympathizer-—but there is something else.....there is this Stepford husband-thingee that oozes from him.......It is icky.
Honestly, I think I could forget Newt’s ‘baggage’ and vote for the smartest guy in the room.
I could support Newt for someone who is a career politician he seemed like the new kid on the block by talking ideas not politics
I went to FOXnews.com and voted for Santorum as the winner. I tho’t he was great. I was also impressed with Newt. He kicked Chris Wallace’s butt.... AND I LOVED IT..... Cain held his own.... Romney and Huntsman = Morman Milquetoast. Paul: Typical nutcase but had a few good points. Michele probably gained some ground by being “the fighter” although not a lot of “wins” under her belt. Big Loser tonight...... Pawlenty. Poor T-Paw; put a fork in him, he’s finished.
you right: winner newt........loser T Paw. Everyone else had some good moments and some not so good ones....
Santorum did well. I can’t forget he backed Spector tho. I believe the winner was Cain. Gingrich, seems very intelligent but his personal life is a monkey on his back. He tied with Santorum for second place. Romney was unimpressive and forget Huntsman. I’m hoping Bachman gets a cabinet appointment when the Republicans win the next election. Pawlenty picked the wrong fight when he went after Bachman. My hopes for president and vice president are Perry and Palin. I wish they were in the debate. Paul seems bipolar. He has some great ideas but then ...That’s my 2 cents.
Yeah! but then we would have Calista as VP!
You done good. I’ve recommended you to replace the Krauthead on the Bret Baird show. My take similar to yours.
1. Gingrich - but he’s uneluctable
2. Romney - exuded confidence and leadership qualities; had more concrete proposals than anyone; didn’t stumble.
3. Huntsman - sincere; stood his ground without waffling
4. Cain - not offered much time; did fair, but not as good as his previous performance.
5. Bachmann - totally failed to answer her first question; seemed too one dimensional; did win the debate with Pawlenty and Santorum though; has the best overall views of the panel but continues to be a major disappointment, performance wise.
6. Santorum - needed some cheese with his whine; he is uneluctable as well.
7. Pawlenty - picking on Bachmann was a major mistake; he came across as small; no personality except for his culinary skills; as you said stick a fork in him.
8. Paul - Paulbots that stacked the audience declared him the winner; everybody else agrees he needs to go back to Lake Jackson to spend his senile retirement.
Time for Palin to hop in and clean some clocks.
bttt
Agree - Newt kicked ass. Pawlenty looked like polenta.
Newt definitely was the highlight of this debate. Smart man and on his toes every single minute. He knows how to deliver it all too. Newt won.
Huntsman angered me when, in referring to Rick Perry, he made a snide remark about prayer. How dare he.
Michele Bachmann looked like a fighter, but that’s all I kept hearing... I fought for this. I fought for that. I fought for this. I fought, I fought, I fought. It got really annoying to me after a while. I wanted something she actually DID other than fight. Sadly tonight I lost a lot of respect for her, even for a VP slot.
Rick Santorum did really well. He would make a good VP pick.
I like Herman Cain, but I think he looked better in the Fox interview after the debate than he did on the debate itself. While he was OK in the debate, a person to person situation seems to do him very well. He’s a very personable man!
Tim Pawlenty should not have engaged in neighbor wars with Michele Bachmann. He was set up for that, and unfortunately he took the bait. Bad showing. Too bad.
Mitt Who?
Newt’s smart but I don’t think he has firm convictions. I think his reputation when he was speaker was as a smart guy who could never carry through on an idea because he would always come up with something else. Huntsman is a total RINO and there’s something so contrived about him that he’s an obvious establishment plant. I couldn’t stand him.
Paul got a lot of applause from his fans and from saying get out of the wars but I think if we went out to win the wars, defeat our enemies utterly and have them pay us reparations instead of us paying to rebuild their countries the wars would have been over years ago and we wouldn’t be spending money to not hurt them while trying not to win.
Yeah my BS meter goes off every time I see him
