What's behind Sarah Palin's surprise trip to the Iowa State Fair?
Christian Science Monitor ^ | August 11, 2011 | Peter Grier

Sarah Palin and her One Nation bus tour are making a surprise trip to Iowa, if you haven’t heard. In an email sent yesterday to supporters of her political action committee she said she’s going to “meet folks at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines this week.”

(snip)

Sarah Palin has proved that she is the quasi-political attention-getting master of the US media universe.

That’s because there just happens to be a debate in Ames, Iowa tonight among declared GOP presidential contenders. A straw poll follows this weekend. So hundreds of political reporters are already in Iowa – pre-positioned for a Palin drive-by. Pure genius.

(snip)

Plus, SarahPAC has posted a new one-minute Palin video that makes pretty much every other Republican contender’s commercials look underproduced.

(snip)

The sound track is Palin’s speech at the 2008 GOP convention. The overall impression it leaves is that Michele Bachmann is a good speaker, Michele Bachmann is a former tax attorney, Michele Bachmann is a tea party favorite, but Sarah Palin is still way better at lighting people on fire with words.

Does all this mean Palin is going to run for president? She’s still not saying. But it sure looks like she’s running for something, even if it’s only Queen of the Midway.

“Uh no the time has not passed....and won’t for a few months.”

Jes’ wonderin’ — what’s your “cutoff date” for Mrs. Palin to make her announcement?

Now that Perry is jumping in, she will have to do something and have to do it soon....

Just sayin’...

But right now she’s a contributor and has been told not to mix the two things but instead to “choose”.

And how do you know that? Are you Roger Ailes or Sarah Palin?

If she were going to be running, the time do jump in was many weeks past.

You do know that the Presidential election is in November 2012 and NOT November 2011?

Right?

Likely she is going there to endorse him.

I guess you didn't hear about THIS then?

"In the latest indication that her sights are still set on a presidential run, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has accepted an invitation to keynote a Tea Party rally in Waukee, Iowa, on Sept. 3"

Yeah, so thick that last week, she retweeted an article critical about his spending ways in Texas.

Such a wishful state some live in, huh? I will say this, if (and I don't think she will) Palin goes to Iowa to endorse Perry, I am done with her.

Am I serious? You betcha!

Perry belongs in the trench, 6’ deep.

He is the biggest danger to America on the horizon; a Perry presidency would seal our destruction.

Maybe you should be a campaign manager with all that expertise.

If she were going to announce her support for Perry, why would she have posted the comparison as governor to him that shows her in a much more positive light than him?

I agree

I've been waiting for Sarah Palin to announce but my hopes are fading fast now. I can only assume she is not running. As a politician (and a good one at that)she knows it does not look good to skip all the debates then enter the race to do one or two near the end. It denies the voters the right see how she will do in debates and it's not fair to those participating already. It's unlikely she's going to run, in my opinion.

There's a point where it just wont look right and we're on top of that point now. I'll give her until saturday though. After that I need to get serious about one of the other candidates. And normally when people choose their candidate they do not change to a new one (unless that candidate they chose makes a big gaffe).

Perry is just lining up to be Sarahs veep.

Good luck with that.
Perry, Rubio, nor any of the other alpha males being touted will play second fiddle to Palin. Not every man is like her husband.

You don't say!?!

OMG, I must be out of the loop, or I've been sleeping.

I'll make sure to check the calendar next time before I post. /s

BTW, did Obama or McCain win?

Aren't we all experts here?

Perhaps Sarah does need to get me on her campaign. That is, if she really is going to declare. I don't see any signs of that.

But, really, I do hope that she does run.

.
It would be the end of her.

No friends, no job, no political influence.

Back to the kitchen table in Wasilla.

And she would get blamed for all the destruction that Perry would wreak.
