What's behind Sarah Palin's surprise trip to the Iowa State Fair?
Christian Science Monitor ^ | August 11, 2011 | Peter Grier

Posted on 08/11/2011 12:51:59 PM PDT by Virginia Ridgerunner

Sarah Palin and her One Nation bus tour are making a surprise trip to Iowa, if you haven’t heard. In an email sent yesterday to supporters of her political action committee she said she’s going to “meet folks at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines this week.”

(snip)

Sarah Palin has proved that she is the quasi-political attention-getting master of the US media universe.

That’s because there just happens to be a debate in Ames, Iowa tonight among declared GOP presidential contenders. A straw poll follows this weekend. So hundreds of political reporters are already in Iowa – pre-positioned for a Palin drive-by. Pure genius.

(snip)

Plus, SarahPAC has posted a new one-minute Palin video that makes pretty much every other Republican contender’s commercials look underproduced.

(snip)

The sound track is Palin’s speech at the 2008 GOP convention. The overall impression it leaves is that Michele Bachmann is a good speaker, Michele Bachmann is a former tax attorney, Michele Bachmann is a tea party favorite, but Sarah Palin is still way better at lighting people on fire with words.

Does all this mean Palin is going to run for president? She’s still not saying. But it sure looks like she’s running for something, even if it’s only Queen of the Midway.

I hear ya. I’m a Bachmann fan. I was kind of hoping Perry would not run but it looks like he is.

you do realize that unlike with Gingrich and Santorum, Fox depends on Palin for RATINGS — they BOTH benefit by allowing her to stay on as long as she can before she decides.

DUH

Actually forget it. Maine needs LePage. It's the Presidency or nothing.

She could very well announce her official resignation and her candidacy in about thirty seconds of airtime.

For all you know she has already unofficially resigned.

OOPS, I didn't mean to sound rude in my previous post by ending with "DUH" -- just got a little excited there and realized after posting that the comment may come off badly. Sorry about that. :)

I’m going to let that one go. I agree with you, but I’m going to let that one go. Everyone is entitled to one mistake. Everyone.

How dumb!!! Do you want a list of all the people in the media that only travel by Personal RVs. Some people do not like planes and some people do not wish to deal with the TSA.

I wonder how Sarah is going to handle this?

By endorsing him? Discussing a position as Energy Secretary in his administration?

That's true. All those who say "she can't run because she hasn't quit Fox yet" have their heads up their butts.

Palin's options are completely open at this point. Completely.

Palin’s going to be in Iowa next week. Perry’s going to be in Iowa next week. Obummer’s going to be in Iowa next week. The planets are aligning, they are triangulating their position. Now what? Personally, I’m hoping Palin and Perry are going to use their combined powers to open a supermassive black hole in the space time continuum and disappear Obummer right into some alternate universe where we will never hear from him again. Or something like that.

Do you realize that then former Governor Ronald Reagan waited until November 13, 1979 to declare for the 1980 race for president? That was before Facebook, Twitter, the 24/7 cable news cycle and bloggers. Remind me how that turned out.
