Mrs. MindBender and I keep a secure home; passive IR lights, alarm, long weapons in closet, hand guns close, planning, drills, etc.
Due to worldwide "problems," we have gone to more lights on, long weapons next to bed, and taking the Glock 23s with extra mags with us whenever out of home 20.
Anyone else?
Four attack cats ready to deploy in any renegade SWAT situation.
Great question ‘bender and it might get a few thinking more along the lines of not what if, but when. I’m retired and live high up in the mountains, on the side of a large one to be exact, in an area known by preppers as the ‘American Redoubt’. Very conservative area with the nearest town, (think Northern Exposure’s Cicely, pop. of 650 or so), about 4 miles down. Since we are all set for the most part the only thing I have noticed changing a bit here is how much faster certain food items are leaving the grocery store shelves between stock days. Most have already ‘hardened’ homes to a point, layed in basic prepper items, are very firearm and shooting/hunting savy etc. etc. but it is the when, not if, mindset we have had here that will be the benefit when it does happen because that thinking is what got most of us to the preparedness level we are at now in the first place. I can’t imagine what it will be like to be stuck in a larger city type area when all hell breaks out, it is not gonna be fun.
That's useful information. So there appears to be a credible threat relatively near your home. Consider moving. If you can't move, make your house a poorer target. From what you've written, you've already done that--dogs, exterior lighting, a clear field of vision, alarms, evacuation plans, drills, fire extinguishers, medical kits, weapons, locks, strong doors/windows, etc. Don't underestimate the value of practicing in advance for the most probable threats, because you want your response to be second nature.
If you haven’t been ready since the late 90’s, it’s too late...
None of your beeswax.
Have 3 dry chemical, and when we built house, installed hise bibs in each bathroom, kitchen and garage. Have 100 feet of good 7/8 hose on each and 70 PSI at taps. There is nothing like mega-gallons of water in a fire,
What, no structure turn out gear or air pack? Are you new?
(How are you going to survive the heat or BREATHE!?, let alone see?)
Kudos for planing ahead. Series lee. ;)
Absolutely. Just had a talk with my 76-year old dad about this.
And don't think for a moment that this sort of crap couldn't happen in America.
The only difference is that the duration would be much shorter, inasmuch as most thugs would lose their taste for looting and mayhem once a sufficient number of them had been shot dead...
I don’t even lock my doors. As my grandmother used to say, “They’ve got to bring it in before they can take it out.”
Haha, yeah, our police have weapons with real bullets. Unfortunately they work for politically correct utopians and they’re getting laid off due to budget cuts...
I’ve become very award of that - how many firearms can I use at once, vs. how many people do I trust 100% and have plans to survive with if our social decay goes UK.
Is that stuff pepper spray on steroids or what? Never heard of it; thanks for your post.
I knew it - clicked on your page and yep, California. I’m in Sacramental.
Great post; rock on!
Remember a few years ago when they had those bad guys around here that were following folks home from the shooting ranges and then ROBBING THEM when they got home? I never did hear if they caught those guys.
Nice; like the pistol-grip.
Are bad times probable, no, but are they possible, yes.
Never hurts to be prepared.
I have a Golden Retriever - if the bad guys bring a ball, I’m sunk.
Due to riots, no. However, my zombie alert posture is now at DefCon 2.
