A President In Over His Head Should Resign
IBD Editorials ^ | August 10, 2011 | DOUG MACKINNON

Posted on 08/10/2011 4:57:46 PM PDT by Kaslin

As our economy continues to self-destruct; U.S. credit is shockingly downgraded; home prices remain at historic lows; unemployment rises; small businesses continue to close their doors; public-employee-bloated cities, towns, states and employers continue to default; race riots flare, Mexican drug cartels cross our sovereign border at will to establish ultraviolent operations; test scores for public school children continue to plummet; the health care system falls under the control of a failed socialist model; terrorism rises, and the world outside our borders spirals into deeper and more dangerous chaos, a serious and very legitimate question needs to be asked:

In the best interests of our nation and the American people, should President Obama resign his office?

Supporters of the president will be offended by the very question and more than likely fire the usual "racist" accusations my way. But it's a question that at least needs to be debated.

Even if Obama loses the election in November 2012, he will still remain in office until Jan. 20, 2013. If, as many people now believe, Obama is in way over his head and dramatically ill-equipped to handle the critical responsibilities of his office, then it seems logical to assume he can still do quite a bit more damage to our nation from now until then.

As to why he is so far over his head and so unqualified to be president, one of his strongest supporters just outlined the answer in a lengthy article for the liberal (and Obama-defending) New York Times.

In the piece, Drew Westen, a committed liberal, articulated his hopes and disappointments of Obama. By doing so, he (in a Nixon-going-to-China moment) pinpointed exactly why the Obama administration has been such an unmitigated disaster.

“Now, let your mind get around the idea that the economy and society are going exactly as he wants them to.”

It’s SO apparent that it’s actionable. I believe destroying the US economy deliberately rises to the level of “High Crimes and Misdemeanors”

"I mean it’s notlike they’re ging to get a real job and make normal living."

Normal is in the eye of the beholder. What is it that you would have a wealthy person do to be "normal"? Live your life? Does a homeless, poverty stricken person think that your life is not "normal"?

Stock will go back up soon enough. The truly wealth people that live entirely off of investment money have nowhere else to go.

I mean it’s notlike they’re ging to get a real job and make normal living.

There are two iinds of "truly wealthy people" who live off of investment income:

1. Trust funders who let other people worry about the money and live lives of leisure.

2. People who earned the money they invest and work at it -- like any other job, trying to make a living.

You might resent the former? But why play the class warfare card on the latter?

What good does it do to "punish the rich" anyway -- even the John Kerrys of the world? Does it enrich your life? Does it make anybody wealthier?

This is a conservative website. Let's lay off the class warfare hatred that's typical of liberal websites.

The Presidency wasn't supposed to matter much. Our hero-worship nature is unAmerican and what caused this fiasco. You “conservatives” who worshiped Reagan and the Bushes are no better than the FDR idolaters. Obama shouldn't be able to cause this much harm, but the Republic is long gone ...

Obama and what he’s done falls squarely on the shoulders of the media and those people who fell for the media’s lies. Also all those Lib’s that lied for him too.

if no resignation then start impeachment proceedings on Obama and Biden - demonstrated incompetence in every phase of the job!

"Yes, well here is the rub about Obama resigning— does ANYONE think that “Plugs” Biden is up to the job?"

It would make a great screenplay for a horror movie!!

Yes, well here is the rub about Obama resigning— does ANYONE think that “Plugs” Biden is up to the job?

Then the question becomes, what if Biden can't handle the job (or has a breakdown, or a health incident) before he can nominate a new Vice President and get that person confirmed by Congress?

Then you're looking at President Boehner.

“If, as many people now believe, Obama is in way over his head and dramatically ill-equipped to handle the critical responsibilities of his office,”

The above should have read as follows;

As anyone who is not a complete idiot has long since realized, Obama is in way over his head and dramatically ill-equipped to handle the critical responsibilities of his office,

The author covered that base. "Plugs" resigning was part of the proposal, so that a "competent, well-vetted vice president" could be appointed before Obama resigned in turn.

That question is precisely why 0bama picked him for VP. He's the best insurance policy he could ever have against removal.

The First Secretary of the party in an average Communist dictatorship would be by now forced to step down, and it has happened, even if you insist that it never happened in North Korea or Romania.

But hey, we’re such a perfect system, we have to let the communist drag us to hell until at least January 2013.

Long Live the Monarchy!

It would be interesting to see if Obama could get a majority of the House to vote to confirm his nominee for this plan to succeed.
