The Sleeping Giant Awakens (Obama, radicals and racial violence)
American Thinker ^ | August 10, 2011 | Robin of Berkeley

One of my closest friends, "Gail," lives in a pristine suburb in northern New Jersey. It's one of those leafy bedroom communities where residents drive their Lexus SUVs to the railroad station each morning to catch the train to Manhattan.

After 9/11, Gail told me that eerily, several vehicles were left abandoned in the parking lot for weeks. Their drivers never returned home that day to retrieve them.

But, in general, not much goes on in her sleepy, idyllic town. The residents rave about shopping sprees to Loehmanns and sprints to Whole Foods for organic strawberries. There is no crime to speak of; the local paper blares news about a recent traffic accident or the opening of a Trader Joe's. So when Gail told me what happened to her son, I was absolutely dumbfounded.

As for Gail, like my former self, she's a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party.....

However, this author implies that he is somehow behind the outbreak of the violence. He has not uttered a word of condemnation, (unlike Mayor Nutter in Philly) but I cannot view this a some sort of assault orchestrated by Obama.

Come again?

Remember the Obama Justice Department?

For one, I think your use of disconsonant was very appropriate. There's something about the violence that is hard to pin exactly on Obama. The authors attempt to do probably resonates more clearly with a liberal or a recently converted conservative audience, one more accustomed to emotional thinking.

Here is the distinction in more concrete terms. Obama sees himself as a revolutionary. He's an agent for change who is singularly blessed to operate from within the beast he intends to tame. His heart is with the people in the streets. His ability to make his sympathies known is vast, directly and indirectly. It would be very easy for him to lend that street agitator credibility as a stabilizing force. He chooses not to.

In a very fundamental sense, he thinks that American society has to be transformed, and what we live in now is a profoundly unfair and immoral existence. He wants class envy. That's why he stokes it. He wants government control of industry, to support those workers who support his vision. He doesn't trust the police. His view of the justice system is as a weapon, not an establishment of stability.

In countless ways, he's taking the spirit of our times, and channeling it down a very selfish and shortsighted path. This path appeals to his emotional vanity, and the vanity of rich, guilty liberals and poor, dependent folk. As far as that goes, he really is a man for our time, to a great many Americans. Buyers remorse aside, I still know people utterly transfixed by him, as an agent for societal change.

I’m right there with you, Ronin.

And I’ll add one other gut feeling, a lot of this is being orchestrated by forces hostile to America and our way of life.

You might not like/want to think so, but regardless any current 'nice guy' world view you may harbor, the marxist scum on the left is at War with YOU and yours !

Until such time as conservatives truly understand that fact, we will continue to be demonized and assaulted.

I barf a little every time he uses the word, “folks”. He wouldn’t know folks if they came up and kicked him. The class envy bit infuriates me. He is deliberately stoking that.

Of course not.

Obammie and his commies can work very covertly.

It is the Obama’s of the world that have brainwashed black youth into believing they are victims of capitalism, victims of the whites, victims of America.

It is the Obama’s of the world that shout through the media that the violent criminals that attack whites at a fair are innocent and we had it coming.

It is the Obama’s of the world that talk about “typical white people.”

It’s the Obama’s of the world who, when a white cop is doing his job and arrests a black man who refuses to comply with an officer’s demands when there has been a report of a break-in, automatically calls that officer stupid and implies that he is a racist.

No, you can’t point the finger directly at Obama. That’s the way they want it. They stir up the rats with a secret hand and then they claim the authority to solve the problem and end the violence.

Obama is, in fact, directly responsible for all of this.

I’ve been feeling the same way.

Actually I’ve been wondering if this is how Germany felt just before the rise of Hitler? Is what we’re seeing similar to what Germans saw and felt before the horror really started?

Or Italy and Mussolini, Stalin, Lenin, Mao...we study these people and their warped philosophy, but they had to be brutal leaders. Did those people who didn’t go along...feel like we do today?

As crazy as it seems...we all see the train in the tunnel and realize we’re powerless to stop it. It is not slowing down, but picking up speed...

By 2050 (if not sooner) whites are going to a minority in there own country, these type of events are going to increase in magnitude and frequency

The crisis will happen MUCH sooner, like in the next two to five years.

Your demographic trend is dependent upon the continuation of the Welfare State. You think underclass women would have five or six kids if they had to support them through their own work? It is the despised middle class which keeps the checks coming, and we've reached the end of the ability of the middle class to support Great Society. Atlas is on the edge of shrugging, and letting it all fall down with a smash.

There is something in this article with a disconsonant ring to me. I heartily blame Obama for the economic malaise that inevitably accompanies a clearly anti-business administration. However, this author implies that he is somehow behind the outbreak of the violence. He has not uttered a word of condemnation, (unlike Mayor Nutter in Philly) but I cannot view this a some sort of assault orchestrated by Obama.

I don't think the article is saying that 0bama is "behind" all of this, more like he's a symptom. Think of it this way, let's say you're deciding on a neighborhood to relocate into. You drive through an area and the downtown center is covered in graffiti, there are lots of pawn shops ,liquor stores and those check cashing and payday loan shops. Unless you're on a real tight budget you'll continue looking. Why? because inside you know the area is a scum pit.

Now, did the graffiti, seedy shops and dirt cause it to be a scum pit? No, but all that's a symptom that the people who live there don't really care.

The same is true of 0bama. Did he necessarily cause all the problems mentioned in the article? No. He is a symptom that the majority of the electorate looks to government for a free ride and as a result when that free ride is interrupted or it isn't enough they will take what they want.

My problem is that I am seeking after that which I cannot find. I want to find an explanation in logic for a phenomenon of emotion.

Maybe the explanation you seek exists in a realm beyond the influence of mortals where mysteries yet wait revelation.

WISDOM OF THE AGES..' a conseervative is a liberal who hasn't been mugged yet....'

Actually, it's "A liberal is a conservative who hasn't been mugged yet," meaning that he's currently a liberal, incipiently a conservative, and, once he get's mugged, his incipient conservatism will come out and he'll leave the liberalism behind. It doesn't work the other way round.

That’s probably true. Would you bump it tomorrow afternoon?

The nearest thing I've found to bumping is to post a reply. Later on go into your "pings" you'll see your reply and you can get back in the thread that way. Not as good, but it keeps the "re-posting police" off your butt.

I would agree, the same would be happening under any other president regardless of party. The moral fabric that holds our society together is very slowly unraveling......
