Who paid for flash mob phones?
8-9-11 | Brett Brewer

Posted on 08/09/2011 9:07:07 PM PDT by Brett66

Simple question about flash mobs, did a federal or state program pay for the phones that they used to organize these mobs?

Assurance wireless is crowing about providing free cell phones in this video:

http://youtu.be/KQl9Tb8_cL8

So did taxpayers pay for the very devices that have been used against us?

It's an outrage if that's the case, I would like to know the answer to this question.

What I want to know is who is orchestrating them.

Yes, you paid for a portion of them from your taxes.

If not directly, then almost certainly indirectly through the form of somekind of government dole. Where I live it is easy to the underpriviledge: they are overweight, have a cellphone glued to their ear, have 26” rims on the car, and vanity plates, and if any money is left over: tinted windows.

My guess would be Van Jones, New Black Panthers, SEIU and ASFCME.

It would be interesting to actually interview one of these mob members and ask them where they got it.

Though I think we pretty much know the answer.

The last time I worked at a state employment office, my caseworkers (I was a supervisor over 30 of them) were giving away free laptops with wireless Internet, along with free childcare, food stamps, TANF (cash), govt. cheese, bus passes, gas credit cards, etc., etc. so phones wouldn’t surprise me. BTW, that was 2005-2006, so who knows what they’re doing now.

I taught in JHS in Queens NY in a mostly hispanic school. Almost every kid in the bldg had a cell. Poor in America is not the liberal’s Dickensian vision of poor.

Hubby was just wondering if it would be OK for the clerk in a convenience store to use tear gas on an unruly mob. Just have the tear gas canister and a mask behind the counter, and when the mob shows up, call 911, then set off the tear gas. It would be easy for the cops to identify who had been in the store by the smell on their clothing.;o) The security cameras from the store can be the ‘impartial eyewitness’ for the subsequent court proceedings.

I'd like to know too. I've wondered if law enforcement could take a “free phone” list and check the calls made and location. I don't know if it can be done.

Interesting. Activated cell phones can be bought for about $15. An average house during the real estate ripoff: about $600,000. A vehicle for about as much as a house is really worth.

Markets will probably be much more sane, after the default deposes enough of the extraneous and overpaid government employees and pensioners.

In fairness, you can buy a low-end prepaid phone for $10-$20 and get minutes for $0.10/ea., so a cell phone really isn’t a luxury item anymore. Sometimes it’s even cheaper than a landline.

A-men. Pursue those people and put them in jail for a very long time.

Apparently, everybody here is a little late to the party. The new government program is called Safelink, and it’s part of the welfare system. If you are receiving any kind of public assistance like welfare, food stamps or Supplemential Security Income, you are entitled to a free cell phone with prepaid minutes. Your stimulus tax dollars at work, I suppose. I’ve speculated for months that the street trash have been using these phones to organize flash mobs. More unintended consequences of Obama’s irrational policies.

I pay about $6 for a minimal land line. I pay about another $20 for all the taxes and service charges.
