LA Times: China demands U.S. 'live within its means'
Los Angeles Times ^ | August 6, 2011 | By David Pierson

The largest foreign holder of U.S. treasuries responds to the S&P downgrading by calling for decreases in U.S. military outlays and social spending.

Beijing — China called on the United States to "cure its addiction to debts" and "learn to live within its means" in a searing commentary published Saturday by the official New China News Agency in response to Standard & Poor's historic downgrading of the U.S. government's credit rating a day earlier.

China, the largest foreign holder of U.S. federal debt, blamed "short-sighted political wrangling in Washington" for creating the current financial morass that now threatens to undermine the global economy.

"China, the largest creditor of the world's sole superpower, has every right now to demand the United States to address its structural debt problems and ensure the safety of China's dollar assets," the commentary said.

"If no substantial cuts were made to the U.S. gigantic military expenditure and bloated social welfare costs, the downgrade would prove to be only a prelude to more devastating credit rating cuts, which will further roil the global financial markets all along the way," it continued.

All the You Tube clips of the SNL skit where President Hu demands sex with Obama have been removed. Drat.

Depressingly, and I hate to say it, I think they are absolutely right.

I think we should cut imports from China and restore the domestic manufacturing industry. And slice megatons of fat in social services costs, as well as abolishing some of the bloated government departments such as Education and Energy.

You should. Not easy to do though.

It apparently hasn’t yet occurred to Barry and the Democrats that tariffs are one tax you can raiss as high as you want and the payers can’t vote you out. I wonder what will happen if it does.

The communists call our social welfare “bloated”. I’m not sure exactly what to think about that. Are they suggesting our government is overinvested in making people dependent on government bennies? That sounds like an odd position for a communist government to take.

Sounds like China is worried because they were stupid enough to sink all that money into the USA (out of greed for profit) and now they are worried that they could lose out big time if the USA economy collapses like Greece. We’re just trying to follow the socialist/communist model that has been so successful for them. China would be nowhere if the USA didn’t buy all that cheap crap they make with slave labor. The stereotype is that Jews are tight fisted with money but nobody is tighter and cheaper with money than the Chinese. This is hilarious, let them sweat it out. What’s the old saying, if you borrow $1000 from the bank and can’t pay it back, you’re in trouble but if you borrow $1,000,000 from the bank and can’t pay it back, the bank is in trouble. F*ck China.

I remember an Illinois teachers union newsletter that exclaimed how the Chicoms were visiting US public schools to learn...what? How best to socialize all those captive young minds.

If you think the Chicom elite espouse socialism (equality), you got the game really wrong. Their leadership is joined with us at the hip..uh State Dept.

Propaganda blah blah blah.

No bureacracy needed. 100% on all Chinese imports.

No exception.

If China complains, make it 200%

America first.

So then they ship to Singapore, Japan, Columbia, and every other country in the world, and it gets repackaged there, saying “Product of ...”. Then reship from there to the U.S. So you still need your two million man bureaucracy or even more now to try (and fail) in your mad fantasy. Everybody who is able to think rationally knows that's what would happen.

And all because you want to make goods more expensive for the American consumer and thereby lower his standard of living. We could of course attack the massive burdens of overtaxation, the absurd union work rules, and the massive overregulation by government that make gives Chinese labor such an advantage, but nooooooo, we can't do that, that might actually work.

Look at that picture closely.

There are two types of bows.
One where you look at the opposite person in the eye.
One where you look down. baraq is looking down which in the oriental world is a sign of submissiveness.
Add to that, when Hu of China came to DC, baraq treated him with all the honors available. Red carpet and state dinner while he treats Netyanyahu like a piece of trash.

baraq knew this was coming and has been sucking up to Hu so he won’t come down too hard on him.

Back last year, timmy geithner went to China to give a talk on economics. He was publicly laughed at.

There is so much more going on under the radar that we aren’t being told. The baraq media has been covering for his failures but the truth is starting to come out.
China is pissed. Their borrowing terms are about to become nasty. And we get stuck with the bill and baraq continues to party.

People with character and intellect are not afraid of competition, especially when it comes to trade and business. They are not our enemy, yet you want massive import tariffs.

Sounds like too many Savage listeners are freepers.

Why not institute a case bonus program for those who find out, report, and then successfully assist in getting illegal immigrants thrown out of the country? That would end the illegal immigrant problem through a grassroots movement and you can bet your bacon that it would eliminate a chunk of the moochers from the welfare rolls. A huge part of our welfare problem is because of the illegals coming here and getting welfare for themselves and food stamps. With that problem solved, we can then put the rest of the moochers to work at the jobs that will be vacated by illegal immigrants.
