Veterans for Rick Perry, a candidate committee under Federal Election Commission rules, today called upon Texas Governor Rick Perry to enter the race for President of the United States.
"As a veteran with a solid record of supporting veterans and military issues in the State of Texas, we believe Governor Perry is the best person for the job of President," said Dan Shelley, Air Force veteran and founder of Veterans for Rick Perry. "We believe Governor Perry is uniquely qualified to lead our nation through the trials that lie ahead. He has demonstrated an ability to reduce government and keep taxes low while supporting veterans' issues and creating economic and educational opportunities for veterans. Governor Perry, we need you as our Commander-in-Chief!"
Perry, a captain in the Air Force from 1972 to 1977, has a long history of supporting veterans and active-duty military members from Texas. As Governor, he has supported the "College Credit for Heroes" program, which allows universities to extend college credit for military experience, education and service; signed legislation making it easier for active-duty military personnel to vote while overseas; extended the property tax exemption for fully disabled veterans to a surviving spouse; and ensured the property tax exemption will follow disabled veterans to a new property.

And former Air Force at that. Sorry, I couldn't resist pointing that out as well. At least the endorsement by such a major noteworthy veteran's group was worth a chuckle.
Misleading? Hogwash, Clairity made it perfectly clear in her post that Palin was talking about the Governor's race.
But there's no doubt that Palin sees Perry as a solid Presidential candidate as well....
Ponder this, 2DV.................................
Its still too difficult to tell whether one or both will jump in the race. Perry seems more likely, and if he does, Palin might opt out and choose to back her friend.
In fact, during the midst of her recent bus tour, Palin brought Perrys name up again, unprompted, telling a group of reporters in Baltimore, I think he would be a fine candidate. We have a lot in common.
She added: I really like him.
As a Veteran I wholly agree with this groups endorsement. Be nice to see a CIC who knows how to salute....which is something that a bunch of Perry bashers on these threads probably don’t know how to do....and it amazes me that FReepers from Virginia are so adamant and persistent in their criticisms of our good Governor...and post outright lies... I’m a Texan and I’m here to tell you Rick Perry is the real deal...he will kick azz and take names and the folks in the Dept’s of Education and Energy as well as the mammary suckers in the EPA...need to think of putting their houses on the market in the spring of 2011 because their jobs will be gone with a Perry Presidency....as well as a bunch of fat cats in the Department of State... Nothing is as sweet as the smell of napalm in the morning and the sight of a huge housing surplus in the DC area...
You call that misleading? You need a nap.
On a paid to post site, I am sure there was a secret vote of all of the one member.
You claim that Perry supports the debt deal -—— please provide proof of your statement ——— I am betting that you can’t.

Sounds like you don’t know much about this particular veterans group. You’re from Texas, right? Ever heard of John Brieden? He’s one of the honchos of this outfit’s steering committee. Past National Commander of the American Legion, what you might call a “noteworthy veteran’s group”.

Your meaning was clear. Now you want to squirm away from it, like a stray dog that craps on the church lawn then runs away from the stink.
As Johnny Carson used to say: "Wrong bar rag breath"...old org.whodat says he's from Virginia....but in that he post such bull shitte on FR...who knows where the boy is from......he may be posting from China, or Iran....who knows...here on FR for the cowards who refuse to fully identify themselves and a little of their background....I am suspect and my fellow FReepers should as well!
I think org.whodat is a fugitive from a chain gang, just less charming. It was Ron H. I was directing the comment too, with a tag to whodat.
Those two seem to think Veterans for Perry is some phony one man outfit, when it’s anything but. Some of the notable members include John Briedan, past National Commander of the American Legion, there’s also Jay Kimbrough, the current Chancellor of Texas A&M. These Perry bashers don’t like having facts thrown at them, it makes them nervous, screws up their script. :)

Perry was one of only five or six governors who actually signed the state version of the cut, cap, and balance act, and he was already running Texas in such a fashion.
Also, Perry did make a public statement against the deal two or three days before the vote. In fact, he came out strongly against it all in a public statement at least on July 27, 2011, perhaps earlier but I know at least July 27, 2011. I had not seen a Perry statement on these negotiations until August 1, but then someone on Free Republic posted a newspaper article dated July 27 which clearly showed Perry’s view.
If I can find that, I’ll share it with you.
Here’s that link someone put on Free Republic the other day.

The next time these so called veterans groups have a meeting wonder why most vets do not have anything to do with them, they should start out by looking in a mirror.
If you read post #8 and cannot understand it you have a problem.
What in the world are you talking about, you’re not making a lick of sense.
Is this group 'Veterans for Rick Perry' a 501(c)(3) organization and what does it it do for veterans? Maybe I missed their press releases touting what they do for veterans and or their families. I'm sorry but endorsing a political candidate for office doesn't quite register with me as being of service to veterans.
I too am a lifelong Texan (60 years so far) and I personally believe Perry to be a RINO through and through. LOL.
Good posting about Perry’s efforts to heighten border security!
Like you and some others here, I’m tired of reading the same old Perry bashing lingo/lies from a half dozen Freepers that they post on every thread that mentions Perry.
No candidate will fit the pure Conservative ideal. Our job is to pick the one that best comes closest to that ideal.
