Veterans for Rick Perry, a candidate committee under Federal Election Commission rules, today called upon Texas Governor Rick Perry to enter the race for President of the United States.
"As a veteran with a solid record of supporting veterans and military issues in the State of Texas, we believe Governor Perry is the best person for the job of President," said Dan Shelley, Air Force veteran and founder of Veterans for Rick Perry. "We believe Governor Perry is uniquely qualified to lead our nation through the trials that lie ahead. He has demonstrated an ability to reduce government and keep taxes low while supporting veterans' issues and creating economic and educational opportunities for veterans. Governor Perry, we need you as our Commander-in-Chief!"
Perry, a captain in the Air Force from 1972 to 1977, has a long history of supporting veterans and active-duty military members from Texas. As Governor, he has supported the "College Credit for Heroes" program, which allows universities to extend college credit for military experience, education and service; signed legislation making it easier for active-duty military personnel to vote while overseas; extended the property tax exemption for fully disabled veterans to a surviving spouse; and ensured the property tax exemption will follow disabled veterans to a new property.

Remember how the Dems hyped John Kerry’s military record and how superior it was to Bush’s?
Let’s say, for the sake of discussion, that Perry wins the GOP nomination.
Wouldn’t it be sweet to have some payback, trumpeting Perry’s service over Barry’s....well, you know.
I’m talking about making it the Mother of all mantras, the Titan of all talking-points...shouting it from the rooftops and replaying all those sound bites from ‘04 about how much military service makes you a better leader.
I’m not saying I’m a Perry guy (I’m waiting for a certain lady from Wasilla), but if that is the hand we get dealt, we could make the most of it and really punish some lefties. (I know there are better issues to pummel Obama with, but this would be apropos on steroids.)

People are spreading misinformation — Perry supports strong, secure borders.
He repeatedly asked the Federal government to secure the border, Obama ignored him, Perry spent Texas funds to secure the border.

Gov. Perry on Border Security
We cannot have homeland security without border security. Under Gov. Perry, Texas has been a leader on border security while the federal government has faltered. Under his leadership, Texas has put more boots on the ground, more technology to use, and more targeted operations to dramatically reduce all crime along the border.
â– Surge Operations. Starting in June 2006, state-funded operations have committed resources to strategic areas, resulting in an average of 65 percent reduction of all crime, including rape, murder, human trafficking and narcotics smuggling in our border communities. In 2009, the 81st Legislature reapproved funding for border operations, dedicating more than $110 million for the second consecutive session.
â– Transnational Gang Initiative. In response to a rising tide of gang violence in Texas communities, Gov. Perry secured funding for enhanced anti-gang efforts all across the state. On Feb. 26, 2009, Gov. Rick Perry sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano requesting the deployment of an additional 1,000 National Guard soldiers to the Texas-Mexico border and has yet to receive a response. Gov. Perry reiterated his request and concerns in a letter to President Barack Obama on Aug. 21, 2009.
â– Ranger Recon. In September, Gov. Perry launched the Ranger Recon security initiative, which utilizes Ranger Reconnaissance Teams to tap the specialized criminal intelligence and apprehension capabilities of the Texas Rangers to protect Texans who live in remote areas of the border and whose lives and property are threatened by criminals coming across the border.

Perry also touted Texas efforts to protect the border, saying it has dedicated funding because it’s been forced to “step into the gap and take care of our people†in the absence of the federal government doing so.

As he has before, Perry contended the federal government has “been stonewalling†the state on its appeals, saying Texas has called for additional border patrol agents and National Guard troops.

Take up reading, my response was about his statement about west, there is that little comma in the statement. Did not say he supported the debt deal ,perry, but he did not say anything until the poll results were in. Then I said if Perry follows his political history he will switch sides tomorrow.
That was for the Texas governorship against ultra RINO Kay Baily Hutchison, as I’m sure you know. She has not endorsed him as president. Very misleading.
I was referring to A single group as was the case with Kerry.
