We visited Texas Tech in Lubbock a few weeks ago to give daughter #2 a tour. As we drove on campus, the first sign we saw was, “Unlicensed carry of weapons on campus is prohibited”. I told my daughter the place just shot up on my list of preferences. Gotta love West Texas!

Perhaps you missed it. It's understandable, since most people go through life with their head up their butts, not noticing anything going on around them.

Post 7 made no reference to where the info came from (the comments section of the article). There were no quote marks or italicization. It could have been them summarizing info they read or heard elsewhere, as opposed to an excerpt.
It was a direct quote from the link provided. You missed it, or didn't read the link. No big deal.

When you post an excerpt you are supposed to indicate that it is an excerpt. Not leave it up to the reader to determine on their own. There were no quote marks or other indication.
Saw a late report from the website of a Richmond newspaper; apparently, the kids who made the report are participating in some sort of academic camp at VA Tech, and campus police deemed their information credible. Still, you raise a good point. In this age of Facebook, Twitter, etc., you’d think one of them would have snapped a picture, which would now be all over the web.
Still a pretty good chance this thing turns out to be a hoax..

It’S Okay. There seems to be only one gun carrier on campus.
Also a pretty good chance that it’s real, but misunderstood. Probably just a guy carrying something wrapped up that looked a tiny bit like a gun. “Wrapped up” or “covered” in itself means this is majorly misunderstandable.
