Sadly, this corresponds to real world experience. Those too stupid to upgrade from “PLEASE COME EXPLOIT MY COMPUTER IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY” aka IE6 are often not real smart in other aspects of their life.
Many vote Democrat.
Kind of a really stupid, self-evident “study”.
You would expect that smarter people would be more likely to take the time to switch to other platforms, even if it turns out those platforms aren’t any better. They simply would make choices.
The “less smart” people are likely going to buy a computer, and use what it gives them. This also explains the “smartness” difference between IE6 and IE8 — the less “smart” you are, the more likely you are to just keep using what you have, to not be set up to get automatic updates, and to not need to keep buying new computers that come with newer versions.
If tomorrow every computer started coming standard with Firefox, within 5 years that would be the browser used by the stupidest people.
I’m off to remove Internet Explorer from my resume’.
I guess the libtards use IE.
Flame war warning! LOL
Smarter people still use their brains.
what waste of time.
I use IE at work (many of our in-house and customer aps require it), but Firefox for personal use. So does this mean I’m only dumb on the job?
I think the real purpose for this poll is differet than what they are saying.
“psychometric consulting” — I just found a new scam!
Half of all people are below average. On average, anyway.
I like Mosaic.
That is all we have at work, so I use it at home too. Wife has Firefox, and I hate it.
isn’t this kind of biased reporting slamming someone supposed to be reserved for Christians or republicans?
No mention of Chrome? I tried it, doesn’t quite do what I need.
This survey has a couple classic issues with it:
1. Assuming a homogeneous population. If you work in a computer field or otherwise work a lot with a browser, this study has merit. However, if you are the president of a company who doesn’t have much time to surf the net, it probably is pretty meaningless.
2. Relative sample sizes and self selection. If a person with a 200 IQ selects Explorer and a person with a 180 IQ selects another browser, but then two people with an 80 IQ select Explorer, which is the browser selected by “smart” people?
...I use IE at the office, when I use anything at all. The computer that I purchased for home-use came with IE. I have better things to do than worry about fixing something that doesn't need to be fixed, especially when I don't use it very often in the first place ...
