Harry Reid debt ceiling bill to be targeted by House on Saturday (What bill?)

House Republicans will bring up Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s debt limit package Saturday just to vote it down, an attempt to show that the legislation is dead in the lower chamber, according to GOP leadership sources.

Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) debt limit package passed the House Friday with 218 votes. The Boehner plan would raise the debt limit by $900 billion, requiring another vote to boost the government’s borrowing authority early next year by another $1.6 trillion.

Reid and other Senate Democratic leaders have already declared the Boehner plan dead-on-arrival in the Senate.

In order to show Reid’s package would face a similar fate in their chamber, House Republicans will do force a vote on Saturday.

I have to assume that Boehner will bring up the same language that is in the Reid bill, in a House bill. Purely symbolic vote, telegraphing what the House will do with Reid's proposal.

/facepalm

Senator Reid is too much of a coward to have the House plan receive an up and down vote.

14th amendment, here we come. I truly believe zero’s going to go for broke. After all, who’s stopped anything else he’s done?

-- Senator Reid is too much of a coward to have the House plan receive an up and down vote. --

A passed vote to table on the substance of the bill, which is what took place, is functionally the same as a failed vote to adopt.

The Senate uses motion to table because that motion is not debatable, and because it is not debatable, doesn't get hung up in cloture and other delay tactics.

It's business as usual and why we are so screwed.

It’s the functional equivalent but in the record it will show a vote on a motion unlike if you vote on a bill.

He’s a coward.

The House needs to just start working on a bill prioritizing spending under the current debt limit.

The House should pass the Tea Party bill and send it to the Senate tomorrow.

Schumer just said the house republicans can’t tie their shoes. Boehner should call a press conference and say “We can’t vote on anymore bills. We’re trying to get our shoes tied.”

When will the GOP stop taking their crap?

This guy isn’t bill clinton. He’s not waiting around for proposals. He’s about ready to make his grab for staying power. He can deal w the Senate, not so much the house. I’m probably over-reacting, hope so at least, but this issue is ripe for expoiting.

I believe there's at least one, maybe a lot more, that have been proposed in the House. Here's an article about one, Debt ceiling fears prompt fallback plan from GOP appropriator

After everything we've seen in the last couple of days, what do you think Reid would do with that bill?
