Were you born without a sense of humor, or did you lose it as a result of breathing refinery exhaust for too long?

Well, that’s a right nice friendly Texas thing to say.
Not.

Hell a good hailstorm would be nothing! At least it would melt fast. Flood??? The 1st 6” will soak up like a sponge, next 6” might run off a little.
Wouldn’t want any hurrycane winds as all the trees are stiff as a poker being so dry.
Last couple of weeks have had to watch rains come and go around NW of TYR.

Making lemonade out of lemons...this could break the drought as it has the potential of causing a lot of rain spreading inland.
Bad side...it could rain too hard too fast causing local areas of flooding.

Nauti, thank you for the ping. Everyone is right - it’s not official until you post it.
The track has shifted dramatically north since this morning at 5 AM. The hurricane dog hasn’t reacted yet - so that may be right.
BOT: Dolly pounded the stuffing out of us here in the Valley. The metal roof vent on our house was bent up into a ‘U’ shape. You’re forgetting about tornadoes.
Prayers for all the Houston people to be safe.

The name "Don" for a hurricane/tropical storm is so lame. Why the political correctness? The reason hurricanes used to be named for women is because like hurricanes, women are unpredictable and you have no idea where they are going to end up. Most of the time, they go out to sea and pout but once in a while, they turn their wrath on a heavily populated area. You just never know what the woman is going to do and that is why they used to use women's names for hurricanes.
I mean, if a Hurricane Betty was to knock your house off its foundation, you'd have the insurance adjusters there the next morning taking pictures. But if you called them to say that Hurricane Henry did the same, they'd probably just laugh at you. Hurricane Henry? Give me a break.

If some place has to go, what better than Houston? Maybe blow it over to New Orleans where it belongs.

We were weaponized just fine but we didn't have any a/c. The first couple of days after Ike the temperature was fairly cool ......... but then, the heat came back and it was awful!
I am so spoiled I'll admit it, I grew up without a/c but I'm old now and I NEED it! LOL!

Yes, but it doesn’t mean I can’t be hoping and praying for my brother and sister Freepers in Texas. Davy Crockett was a Tennessean, after all.

We used to have dial-up rules on Hurricane threads, and three years later we still may? Standing to be corrected if so. Some people in harm's way might still not have broadband.
