No doubt there are those who imagine that the federal budget can be balanced simply by cutting the pay of federal employees ~ most of whom work at the post office or for the Department of Defense.

The House and Senate debt proposals released Monday do not contain specific provisions targeting federal employees' pay or benefits,...

As it should be, because government is what gives us a reference point for hard work equals more pay, less work equals no job, and over all government workers are those workers who suffer the most because they give selflessly for the promotion of the freedoms that the rest of us enjoy and in many cases abuse.

And this is without even considering the hell that those in the armed services have to go through.

Government workers, especially politicians are true civil servants because they give more than they take.

This doesn't really matter....old Harry already said it is DOA...when it reaches the senate and the crack smoking man child in our WH has already said per his advisers he'd veto it....it sounds like it is time to invoke the 25th.

What? So now all they are proposing to cut is Defense? Am I the only who remembers that Republicans vowed that defense cuts were off limits?

Step 1: 10% cut, including pension, or you may feel free to quit.

Step 2: The taxpayers default on government employees, and your get NOTHING.

Want to save billions and juice the economy? Nuke the EPA, EEOC, OSHA, Dept. Education. Fire every last parasite. Numerous other Federal agencies can be slashed to skeleton crews or fire all personnel

If vets and old folks are going to get cut off then not ONE of these beaurocrats(sp?) needs to see a paycheck either.

“”I am pleased that neither of the two latest proposals addressing the debt ceiling and fiscal deficit calls for immediate federal retirement cuts,” National Treasury Employees Union President Colleen Kelley said in a statement.”

Well, I’m appalled! And since I’m retired military, cuts would impact me personally - but so will a refusal to cut the budget!

If you want to make a turn, you can make a small correction and let time go to work, or you can slam it full to one side. The sooner we start turning, the less painful it will be.

I personally think I will never collect Social Security. They will means test it before I hit 67, and I won’t see a cent. I would be OK with that if they would just get serious about cutting spending now before total disaster strikes.
