Obama: "That is no way to run the greatest country on Earth"
foxnews.com Transcript: Obama's Speech on Debt Talks ^ | July 25, 2011 | Barack Hussein Obama

~ SNIP -

But there's an even greater danger to this approach. Based on what we've seen these past few weeks, we know what to expect six months from now. The House will once again refuse to prevent default unless the rest of us accept their cuts-only approach. Again, they will refuse to ask the wealthiest Americans to give up their tax cuts or deductions. Again, they will demand harsh cuts to programs like Medicare. And once again, the economy will be held captive unless they get their way.

That is no way to run the greatest country on Earth. It is a dangerous game we've never played before, and we can't afford to play it now. Not when the jobs and livelihoods of so many families are at stake. We can't allow the American people to become collateral damage to Washington's political warfare.

Congress now has one week left to act, and there are still paths forward. The Senate has introduced a plan to avoid default, which makes a down payment on deficit reduction and ensures that we don't have to go through this again in six months.

“The greatest country on earth?”

Would that be the one your wife wasn’t proud of until you got nominated for POTUS?

Would that be the same country that caused you to go on your World Apology Tour?

Would that be the one your Attorney General called a nation of cowards?

And would that be the one you said you would “fundamentally transform”?

And what about your minister - the esteemed USA hating Jeremiah Wright and your good buddy the American terrorist who lives in the neighborhood?

Maybe even Obama has figured out that no one loves a traitor.

In Obama’s demented mind, America is only great because of social programs.

Just wait until all those Europeans, UN types and his Muslim buddies hear that “O” thinks the US is the ‘greatest nation on earth’.... after he bashed and belittled us up one side and down the other for 2 and a half years.

How many ways does he want it? He ought to STFU

I’m agreeing with Thomas Sowell on this one. Get rid of the debt ceiling. Let them own their spending without the chance to co-opt and blame the GOP.

If they vote the spending, they own the debt, hold them accountable for their votes on spending, make them own the economy and face the voters with it.

The first thing 0bama has ever said that I totally agree with - no way for a big zero to run a country. A 0 that had almost 0 experience in government and an ineptness that is amazing.

Lately, these past few days, I wonder what Obama will be like after his presidency. I know he will disgrace us (e.g., think Jimmeh), but I suspect he will fall below my expectations for him then, too. Before he was elected I kept telling blue friends that he was an empty suit - and then he went and pulled that Caesar’s soliloquy before Greek columns and thereby proved he was worse than I thought. I knew he was malevolently self interested but the actual conduct of his presidency has begun to dip below even my worst projections. And now - I wonder how he will disappoint beyond contemplation after his presidency. Bush could have had a field day pointing out Obama’s errors but that is not what Bush has done. But I begin to imagine a post presidential office Obama ‘commenting’ on the next president’s speeches - holding long winded empty speeches of his own: mocking, chiding, and playing the race card with that weird hollow eyed and crooked smirk on his face. And if it’s GOP presidency, the MSM will certainly grant him more air time than they would the GOP pres. I picture him active trying to lead a resistance movement - maybe it’s just because he’s always dug below all my previous expectations I’m trying to conceive of his ‘new low’ before he does.

... the greatest country on Earth"

Of course, he means that in the same way a Greek would mean it if speaking about Greece, or a Zimbabwean would mean it when speaking about Zimbabwe.

Hopefully, this demagogue's blatant Marxist demagoguery will wake some bemused folk up. This is where we have been headed, since we embraced the premises of the Welfare State under FDR. Most of the problems, for which the demagogue feigns concern, are a direct consequence of embracing the concept of ultimate dependence upon Government to solve the problems of the individual.

To better understand how the Welfare State undermines human societies: How The Welfare State Works!

For a clear contrast, see how Welfare--the social safety net--was handled in Jefferson's day. (Constitutional Overview.)

We have been led down the primrose path; but the poor are among the victims--not the beneficiaries.

Boo Hoo boy king. Grow a pair. We know deep down in your heart you believe Kenya is the greatest country in the world. Do us all a (colorful metaphor) favor and go back there.
