I know what I’d like to see done but it ain’t gonna happen. We are still an election away from meaningful changes in government.
If I had my druthers, we’d allow the ceiling to be hit. And deal with the consequences. The nation would learn very quickly there’s life after big government.

1.2 trillion in cuts spread out over 10 years;
A joint select house/senate committee will meet to find an additional 1.8 trillion to cut over the next year;
There will be a vote on a balanced budget amendment after Oct. 1 2011 but before the committee meets;
President can ask for a debt increase up to 95% of the cuts;
If the joint committee does not report, "We will act on our own" (paraphrasing).
Boehner admits this is not the greatest solution but "Rush, we waited too long to act." (NOT paraphrased.)

Hmmm. Debt ceiling increased now. $1 Trillion in cuts over 10 yrs...back-end loaded? Our debt is projected to be $25 Trillion in 10 years.
Obama gets money now and cuts are done over ten a year period. Disappointing.
Forgot to add to my last post “with spending caps in place.” Boehner also said “Too many baby boomers retiring.”

He sounded like a demrat talking about baby boomers retiring and checks have to be mailed.
A part of me would like to see that, too. However, I believe that Obama and the MSM would manipulate that scenario to tamp down our victory in the next election. I would rather go for the best deal we can achieve at the moment and focus on a huge tea party victory in 2012. Of course, my plan is based on Palin winning the election and changing the way the game is played in DC. If she doesn’t win, I doubt much will change as I don’t see anyone else who knows how to operate outside the the current political paradigm.
