Stuart Varney, on Fox News, just said that 30 out of 55 economists believe our credit rating will be downgraded no matter what deal is struck. Why should we make any concessions on more spending and higher taxes when we're going to lose our AAA rating anyway? We might as well hold fast and get the pain over with.

Shut down the Department of Education today. Defund the EPA, NEA, and Planned Parenthood today. Shut down the Department of Energy today. Repeal/defund ObamaCare today.

In my opinion, Rush handled the John Boehner interview masterfully because as TEMPTING as it would be to scream at John Boehner and burn bridges behind him, Rush as usual let John Boehner dig a deep hole for himself.

No kidding. My husband and I took care of ourselves, we saw the writing on the wall regarding SS back in the early 80s. Besides I suspect they plan to steal our retirement accounts anyway. We will have to work til we drop dead. I’m glad I know how to plant a garden and make my own butter.

Exactly, so shut it down now!

Start by demanding cuts with no debt ceiling increase, then when Make Obama and the Democrats squirm. Come back with an even harsher deal for them.

If they get mad, then make the next deal even harsher. Every time they shudder and complain that the Republicans are too drastic in their demands, it is time to get tougher.

Each time they reject a deal, make the next one more severe.

Put them on notice that WE control the purse strings, and that means no more money!

Defund and shut down the ATF.

I recently heard that the Navy's budget will have to be reduced by $10 billion dollars. Yet ACORN had $8 billion dollars earmarked for it. Give ACORN nothing and only cut $2 billion from the Navy budget if we're that short on money.

Agree. Rush turned to Mush when Boehner talked about cuts over ten years. If Boehner and his pals can't find REAL cuts (and BIG ones) that take effect over the next ten weeks he needs to go.

There is so much crap they could defund IMMEDIATELY it isn’t even funny. Hundreds of people are being laid off at New Hampshire hospitals right at this moment...security is handing them a box and giving them a few minutes to ‘hit the road’. But G-d forbid we do the same to government employees...who would be left to surf eBay all day in those fancy Washington offices?

You are right. I too have taken care of business, and all I see is those around me who haven’t being treated as if they were the smart and responsible ones.

I get real angry every-time I hear a boomer complain we need to help them, because they are hurting financially when 9 times out of 10 nit is their own fault.

I do not own much, because I paid my bills when they came dues and bought things when I knew I could pay them off.

Sure it can make for a boring life at times, but I found comfort and companionship in company of my wife. Now we can sit back and relax knowing we have ZERO debt. As I said we do not have much, but it is ALL OURS!
