Norway terror suspect described as Christian fundamentalist (Christian bashing season is on)

The death toll from attacks in Norway has risen to 91 with police also confirming they have arrested a suspect whom they described as a 'right-wing Christian fundamentalist'.

In a press conference police said that they had arrested Anders Behring Breivik, 32, on suspicion of carrying out the Oslo bombing and the youth-camp shooting rampage.

Norwegian Breivik, did not appear to be linked to Islamist terrorism.

The suspect appeared to have acted alone and police said "it seems like that this is not linked to any international terrorist organisations at all".

Internet postings "suggest that he has some political traits directed toward the right, and anti-Muslim views".

On his Facebook page, he describes himself as a Christian and a conservative.

Earlier World leaders condemned the terrorist attacks.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron said the attacks were a "stark reminder of the threat we all face from terrorism".

The statement came as diplomats sought to establish whether any UK nationals had been caught up in the carnage.

Mr Cameron said: "My thoughts are with the wounded and those who have lost friends and family, and I know everyone in Britain will feel the same."

US President Barack Obama said the bombing was a reminder that the world has a role in stopping such terror from happening. He also expressed his condolences to Norway's people. Nato Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen called the blast a "heinous act".

Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission, expressed his "utmost shock", saying an attack of that magnitude is not "something one would expect in Norway, famously associated with peace at home and peacemaking abroad".

I’m confused...is the right wing in Norway the same as the people on the right here in the US? I’ve read that the right is a progressive group there and in other places the right are neo nazis...Is the right wing in Norway conservative Christians? the more I read the less I seem to understand...aaarggghh

Yes, and he was obviously demon possessed and not a conservative nor christian. You people in Norway and all over the world had better start packing heat right now! Do not be a sitting duck for satan! Jesus told his people to sell the cloaks and buy a sword if they had not the money. Do it now!

Assuming that the web posts attributed to him are legit and google translate conveys their gist, he doesn't seem to have been very Christian. He had been confirmed and considered himself Protestant, but his posts weren't about religion.

If he "defined" or "described himself as a Christian, it was largely in opposition to Muslims and multi-culturalists, not because he had any great commitment to the Christian message.

He did like to throw the word "Marxist" around a lot though. Those who also like to do that might learn from the news. Also "dhimmitude."

Right in Europe is not Right in the USA.

There are Right Wingers in Europe who would be considered Democrats here in the USA ( including support for Gay Marriage ).

Consider Australia for instance... the Party most close aligned to Conservative principles in the USA ( epecially Former PM John Howard ) is the LIBERAL PARTY!

Go Figure.

LABELS DO NOT MEAN ANYTHING UNLESS WE GO INTO THE IDEOLOGY PEOPLE HAVE IN MIND WHEN THEY USE THESE LABELS.

Only Lazy thinkers argue in terms of labels.

There's gotta' be some sort of ideomatic expression in Scandinavia for people who do not adhere to the Lutheran state church.

That doesn't actually translate as "Fundamentalist" since that is either a very broad term not meaning anything in particular ~ e.g. as in "The Pope is fundamentally a Christian", or a very narrow term that can mean a member of a small number of Biblical textual absolutists (who think the Bible was written by God Himself).

If the cops in Norway actually used "fundamentalist" they did so in a sense not generally recognized in English nor handled well by Google

Not all people claiming to be Christians are. Hitler (I believe) claimed to be, but he was a nut case just like this guy.

As a Christian or Jew you IMO have to obey the Ten Commandments which include “Thou Shall Not Kill”.

“Norwegian Muslims want blasphemy law”
(From 2006)
Eurabia Alert from Aftenposten, with thanks to Looney Tunes:

“Norway needs anti-blasphemy regulations to protect minorities against derisive and hateful expression, says lawyer Abid Q Raja.
“The point is not to restrict freedom of speech but to give it direction so that weak groups do not feel insulted or mocked. If we do nothing the differences within Norwegian society will increase in the future,” Raja told newspaper Dagsavisen.

Raja’s statement comes after the new wave of controversy surrounding caricatures of the prophet Mohammed, first published in Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten last September and now recently in the Norwegian Christian weekly Magazinet.”

Is anyone able to discover the schedule of events and speakers at this summer camp attacked in Norway? I don’t have a clue about the language.

Remember, VG and Aftenposten were there as well (re: mo cartoons). The suspect also spoke of the multi-culti problem and that he was somewhat protected by islamo beatings due to a Paki friend; yet it sickened him because he saw the hypocrisy up close. So how to take a shooting of blond, blue eyed labor youth vs. Islamic, African refugee or any other camp? Will post links when able. FYI, LGF was the usual ifiot and accused Fjordman of GOVienna blog as suspect.
No one has disclosed letters to the three newspapers re: mo toons days before this. Will be scrubbed since Christan, Zionist, right-wing meme is out there (a la McVeigh).

Here is the difference between Islam and Christianity. Had a Muslim done this, and I’m not convinced that isn’t the case, he would be a hero who acted in accordance to his religion. If it is true someone claiming to be a Christian has done this, he has violated the teachings of Christ, and most every Christian in the world knows it.

Sadly, an ignorant world that has sought to lump all religions together, a world where the word fundamentalist is an insult, won’t understand this simple distinction.

So, if I call myself a Christian and murder a boatload of people in direct opposition to the tenets of Christianity I’m a fundamentalist? LOL!
On the other hand if I scream allah akbar while mowing people down, am a muslim, have been in contact with radical imams ad infinitum, ad nauseum, I’m not a radical terrorist muslim. Ok.
