WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama for the first time is allowing for the possibility that the U.S. may default on its financial obligations.
At a hastily arranged White House appearance on Friday, Obama said: "If we default, then we're going to have to make adjustments."

I believe he wants to create a stalemate and default as a way to damage America even more.
He wants to arrive a point where he can order Geithner to default in a way he can blame on conservatives.
As long as he can fabricate a story that directs responsiblity away from himself the press will help him sell it to the public.

Three hours after he said there was absolutely no chance of default. And they wonder why businesses won’t rely on anything he says. Oh yeah, I’m going to get in the water when the guy in that speedboat can’t steer the same course for thirty seconds at a time.
I think he once again suddenly realized that he’d talked away his bargaining position by saying there was no way he’d let a default happen. Shades of ‘don’t call my bluff’.

Don’t you think he is losing control of the messaging here? Don’t you think the American people are waking up (including the idiot independents who put him into office)?
What he’s doing is setting it up so he can raise the debt limit without congress’ approval.
I just don’t see a way out of this mess we’re in. In the future I see us living like it’s 1850. Got a toothache? Tie a string around the tooth and tie the other end to a door then slam the door.
The reason the northeast media elite and congress are using the default straw man is because they all have investments and if the credit rating gets hit, all these idiots are going to lose their shirts.
They already took ours in 2008. Now it’s their turn and they aren’t too thrilled.

Yes, the kenyan does want default, its part of the marxist agenda. Congress has to act without him, push him aside, CC&B without him.
He wants the default, he really wants it. That is obvious.
The democrats need to ease him out like the repubs did with Nixon. Its just too much, every day is a total disaster with this bozo. Every single day some new outrage.
He doesn't worry about impeachment because he counts on the media to convince the public that the Republicans are to blame. It seems to be working so far.
I have a new theory, one at least new to me. Maybe we’ll go through August 2 with our a ceiling increase. Obama will declare “We Defaulted” and the press will report it as such. Meanwhile interest payments on bonds get paid, SS checks go out, the military gets paid, etc. Then S&P/Moody’s will downgrade the US credit rating and Obama and the press will say “That’s because we defaulted.”
Maybe we’ll go through August 2 withOUT a ceiling increase.

I still say we kick everybody in Washington out, and replace them with “joe everydays” from around the nation.
