WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama for the first time is allowing for the possibility that the U.S. may default on its financial obligations.
At a hastily arranged White House appearance on Friday, Obama said: "If we default, then we're going to have to make adjustments."

Failure to raise the debt limit = immediate 40% cut in govt spending. Their spending will be limited by the tax revenue coming in on a weekly basis. You want a balanced budget? This is the cold turkey way to do it. Bring it on.

Unfortunately for Barry, it's not going to work out for him. Instead, he's going to end up with even less support and then saying that since Congress is so uncooperative he's not running again. That way he never has to face the fact that he doesn't match his own image of himself. If he comes up with a last minute deal, he'll do the same thing, complain that it's too difficult to deal with such ignorant mortals as those in Congress and announce that he's not running again. Then he can spend decades doing a Carter style intervention into anything and everything that he wants to without ever being responsible for anything again.
I think if we default, impeachment is a real possibility. Not removal, but, impeachment (ala Clinton).
And so, now the emperor has summoned congressional leaders to his cp, has he!
Now, will they meekly heel to his command, we’ll see...

The meaning of default is that you don’t pay your creditors. There’s more than enough money coming into Treasury to pay interest on the debt. It’s like, you pay the mortgage and the credit card interest first, then economize elsewhere. Shutting down the EPA, HUD, HEW, Energy, Education, Agriculture, Commerce - the list goes on of easy savings. But no, our so-called President threatens to stiff our creditors first. What further proof do the people of this country need that HE HATES US?
The United States has revenues , I know its a shock to the media.
We can pay our debts, Medicaid, Social Security, Soldiers and still have money left over.
The figures I hear are that we borrow 40 cents on the dollar to run the Government. If true than we can pay 60% of our Government operations. First the 535 members of Congress, Vice President and our Dear Leader who says he has too much money. Cancel HIS GOLF AND VACATION.

No way. Not in a million years. He will never not run again.
(It’s be great, especially if very late in the process as whomever the D’s put up will be pounded relentlessly...including Hillary...but he won’t walk away).
