Perry's credentials: As conservative as they come
Atlanta Journal Constitution ^ | July 17, 2011 | Chris Tomlinson

Posted on 07/17/2011 6:59:38 AM PDT by Clairity

If Texas Gov. Rick Perry runs for president, he'd bring along strong conservative credentials.

He's advocated laws that require a sonogram before an abortion and that force police to enforce federal immigration law.

The Urinal-Constipation advocating CFR-Rick.

Earlier in the week, the Washington Compost was campaigning for him.

What in the heck more do you need to know?

State-controlled media is desperate for ABP.

ineluctable

Perry is better than McCain (though no better on the border), but not nearly as principled as Bachman.

Thats what I am worried about. I lived in Texas for 7 years and I didn’t see anything that caused me to think he was enforcing the border either. The longer that I lived near Houston the worse it got.

If Palin hadn't supported the man who MADE her a national figure and thus currently the last best hope for America, most people would have thought her an ungrateful POS.

Enforcing border security is the responsibility of the Federal Government. Perry tried and tried to get Obama to send National Guard troops to the border, his request fell on deaf ears.

“Gov. Perry on Border Security

We cannot have homeland security without border security. Under Gov. Perry, Texas has been a leader on border security while the federal government has faltered. Under his leadership, Texas has put more boots on the ground, more technology to use, and more targeted operations to dramatically reduce all crime along the border.

— Surge Operations. Starting in June 2006, state-funded operations have committed resources to strategic areas, resulting in an average of 65 percent reduction of all crime, including rape, murder, human trafficking and narcotics smuggling in our border communities. In 2009, the 81st Legislature reapproved funding for border operations, dedicating more than $110 million for the second consecutive session.

— Transnational Gang Initiative. In response to a rising tide of gang violence in Texas communities, Gov. Perry secured funding for enhanced anti-gang efforts all across the state. On Feb. 26, 2009, Gov. Rick Perry sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano requesting the deployment of an additional 1,000 National Guard soldiers to the Texas-Mexico border and has yet to receive a response. Gov. Perry reiterated his request and concerns in a letter to President Barack Obama on Aug. 21, 2009.

— Ranger Recon. In September, Gov. Perry launched the Ranger Recon security initiative, which utilizes Ranger Reconnaissance Teams to tap the specialized criminal intelligence and apprehension capabilities of the Texas Rangers to protect Texans who live in remote areas of the border and whose lives and property are threatened by criminals coming across the border. “

Perry is for in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, .........and amnesty.

I hate to think what Perry would do with federal power...probably give illegals the key to the US Treasury.

REFERENCE Aug. 28, 2007——In Mexico for trade talks, Perry blasts US immigration policies
Houston Chronicle, Mexico City Bureau | DUDLEY ALTHAUS

MEXICO CITY — Leading a large delegation of Texas executives trying to drum up business in Mexico, Gov. Rick Perry on Tuesday criticized the U.S. Congress for failing to pass an immigration bill that would legalize millions of workers. “I don’t think this is that difficult an issue if Congress would have the maturity to sit down and really discuss it and cut out all the mean rhetoric,” Perry said during a break in the third day of meetings with Mexican officials and business executives. Everybody but Perry knows that when a US official is on foreign soil, it is treasonous to criticize your government.

Perry supported the federal Dream Act; the state of Texas has had their own version for many years.

Perry can’t carry his home state.

What are you talking about? He has been elected Governor in Texas several times. I know he has warts but your statement is not accurate.

I have never met "Governor Rick" but he was born 15 miles from me. I know both of his parents, and was a delegate at the State Republican Convention the first time he ran for Governor (on his own, after Bush). His family has been in Haskell county for several generations. My family has been here since 1889. He is not a Lib. He is a Texan (an undefined characteristic to many outsiders). I have mixed feelings about him running for President, would prefer that he stay on as Governor of Texas.

I don’t find it especially ‘rogue’ or refreshing when someone shades the truth for political gain, whether or not it be their own gain or that of another candidate. Nor do I believe that there is any one person who is going to save America from the death spiral. It is going to take many leaders with the strength of their convictions, and tens of millions of citizens to do what is right.

Old, but not forgotten.

It shows how Perry can move all over the place on issues just like Mitt Romney.

I just wonder why the MSM is PUSHING Perry so hard on us.

It really seems like they want him to be our candidate.

I love having Perry as my Governor. We’re in good shape down here. He brings in the business and finds ways for the state to make money, which has helped us keep our taxes low as well as a vibrant economy. He’s a Christian, he’s pro-life, pro-gun, he’s family, he’s a husband of the land, and when he has to get in somebody’s face, he will. He’s served his country in uniform. He also detests the EPA and ObamaCare’s insanity. We’ve had high risk insurance pools to cover those with pre-existing conditions before anybody else thought of it. And we’ve had two sets of Tort Reform before anybody was willing to buck the trial lawyers and their lobby. He’s NOT a scull and bones lawyer. He’s not pro-union, he’s right-to-work.

His minuses are that sometimes he hies off in a direction with enthusiasm and then we have to slap him up side the head when we see the far-reaching consequences. Like the Trans-Texas Corridor. He saw a way for the State to make money with little investment. Good idea, until he ran into the eminent domain that would suck up good farmland. And the fact that Texans don’t like the idea of foreigners having control of a major transportation route cutting our state in half. But when we marched on the capitol and struck a hammer to his head, he listened and he backed off. Some were screeching he’s pro-NAFTA, but he never supported the Union. He just supports free trade and we’re one of the country’s biggest exporters.

Because of Texas’, notice I said Texas’ success, he’s high profile. He’ll be able to assemble a war-chest of the biggest and brightest, not to mention MONEY! The money part is good, but can get scarey. Too much influence stirring the pot. I said ‘Texas’’ success because it’s a group effort. The people down here are basically of the land. We’re reasonable, yet independent. We’re not pretentious, nor fake or high maintenance like the California crowd. We don’t let others muck ruck around in what’s ours. The idea that a fool needs a union to suck off our salary so we can work in a job is abhorent to us. Why in the HELL would you need to pay a union what you can do for yourself better. We raise sheep, we know their mentality, sheeple we will NEVER be. And we were smart enough to recognize when the democratic party turned commie and we threw their butts out. We’re still trying to forget the Texas native son that was the FIRST communist president president of the US. Even the county with his boyhood home in the county seat, just REFUSED an 18-foot bust of the old commie be placed on the courthouse lawn.

I have no reservation that he would make a ‘good’ president and be an asset. But he’s slow, he’s a plodder like most husbands of the land, and he takes LOTS of encouragement, and he’s very, very compassionate, and he loves this country. I was raised in a family of men just like him. The very salt of the earth.

But THIS TIME, we need somebody viscious, that can fight dirty, that’s got the ideas up front, that’s quick, that’s a strong debater, and especially one that’s prepared to slash and burn Washington DC to the ground NO HOLDS BARRED! Somebody ready to buck the establishment and call them out immediately, and put them in jail if necessary. No pandering, no posturizing, and no backroom deals!

If Sarah Palin does not come out, however, no matter what, I will put the full force behind Perry, as will the Texas Tea Party that’s had his full support from the get-go. As much as I love Michelle Bachmann and praise her work in getting our voice in congress, Rick Perry, as well as Sarah Palin has schooled us, helped mold us into a formidable entity in our state that’s helped us push thru much needed legislation here.

God bless America, and help us win it back!
