Bachmann`s fund raising very weak
Commentary Magazine ^ | July 15 2011 | Friendofgeorge

Posted on 07/15/2011 1:25:52 PM PDT by Friendofgeorge

The much awaited figures for Michele Bachmann’s fundraising in the second quarter of the fiscal year reported today did nothing to burnish her image as the up and coming Republican. Her total of $2 million raised in the last three months plus two million more shifted from her congressional campaign account illustrated that for all of the progress her candidacy has made in the last several weeks, she seems to lack the infrastructure and staff work that more established hopefuls have already put into place. The high expectations her poll figures have produced means pulling in only $2 million has to be considered something of a disappointment.

Bachmann’s excuses for this showing will center on the fact that at the start of the quarter she barely had a campaign, let alone the sort of organization that would allow her to rake in the big bucks. Her Internet fundraising operation, key to a grass roots populist candidacy such as hers, so far lacks the sophistication and promotional efforts needed for her to harness the energy of enthusiastic Tea Party and conservative Christian backers.

If she can manage to put together a better online effort in the coming months, then she may be able to start raising the big bucks from a broad base of small contributors that could help put the nomination within reach. But if she fails to do so, this shortfall will put a brake on both her momentum and her ability to compete with the cash-rich Mitt Romney.

Having lifted herself from the second tier to leading alternative to the frontrunner in just a few weeks, Bachmann no longer has the ability to fly below the radar. The congresswoman’s fast start has set high expectations that require her to do more than just skate by. If Bachmann’s performance in the Iowa straw poll in August or the next fundraising report again falls short of what we believe a first-tier candidate must do, her hopes will suffer.

I kinda wish Obama would take a few min. away from his hard work in D.C. and ‘Focus like a Lazer’ on funding a cure for PDS. Lindy (like is spiritual brethren who should be here shortly I’m sure) has it bad. I might even be willing to agree to raise the debt ceiling and to a tax hike if only someone would find the cure.

I keep hearing the version of “Poor unfortunate souls” from the Little Mermaid playing in my head...wonder why? ;)

Poor unfortunate souls
In pain, in need
This one longing to be a winner
That one wants to vote for the girl
And do I help them?
Yes, indeed
Those poor unfortunate souls
So sad, so true
They come flocking to my cauldron
Crying, “Guide us Normie, please!”
And I help them!
Yes I do

Millions of people are sitting on their money, waiting for Sarah Palin to announce her candidacy. How many, how much, we just don't know yet. But ...

Ten million people contributing, on average, $100.00 to Sarah Palin will put her over the One Billion Dollar mark, right off the bat.

One million people contributing, on average, $1000.00 to Sarah Palin will put her over the One Billion Dollar mark, right off the bat.

Sarah Palin has ten times the supporters on Facebook than all the other GOP candidates combined. Same with Twitter.

Pro-Palin blogs number in the hundreds, if not thousands, far, far above all the other candidates combined.

Most likely it will be a mix of various amounts, but it will be hugh and series.

I have $1000.00 set aside for the day Sarah Palin officially enters the race.

Are you kidding? Zero needs all the help he can get. Sarah is coming...

I am very glad to accomodate you. Thing is, I believe it is actually you that should be embarrassed with your petty disingenuous sniping and glee at bad news for the only real conservative candidate in the 2012 race. All that for the FOX news contributor that will probably let you down and seems unable to make up her mind.

Me, I will vote for whoever is chosen after actual debate and campaigning alongside the other competitors who have chosen to join the race.

As candidates, they all will be scruntinized and stacked up against each other. May the best man or woman win.

Me? Embarrassed for me? Not on your life FRiend.

I don't know how old you are, nor how much of a news junkie/interested in politics you are/have been; however, from your comments about Rollins, it is patently obvious that your abject lack of knowledge, re the world of politics and Ed Rollins, is one your most execrable traits.

Rollins takes credit for things he hasn't done, talks about things he has supposedly done that IF he did, should have been kept secret ( look up Rollins and "walking around money" ! ), which damned near loses elections for those he works for, and has been involved in at least one sleazy sex scandal. Anyone, pol who doesn't know this, at this stage of the game, is an ignorant fool.

Oh gee.......you wouldn't mind if Bachmann hired Chelsea Clinton to run her campaign and believe that that kind of moronic crapola wouldn't taint nor change her? SERIOUSLY ?

Yea but SP is a forgone conclusion. PDSers need help NOW. I think that President Obama could display his passion for the ‘little guy’, ‘organize’ the community of the addled and prep them for the fact that Palin will be replacing him in 2013. Since Obamacare will be DOA PDQ, that won’t help them cover the cost. No this is in Obama’s court. He did tell them to ‘get in our face’ after all. He could show his commitment to diversity and social justice by embracing the opposition and help ridding us forever of this vile and debilitating condition... For the children...

Admitting you have a problem is the first step on the road to recovery.

Sorry, I do not yet have my Sarah-showing-off-her-legs-in-her-running-gear pinup, yet. ;)

Speaking of "worship" there seem to be a few Bachmann supporters here who can't deal with a little analysis of Bachmann's fund raising numbers.I am not yet a Bachmann supporter. But the media's attempts to demonize her do not speak well of her being "their candidate". I definitely prefer her over Mitt. Before "the insult", everyone at FR loved Bachmann, which makes me think the PAS is out of hand.

If Palin runs, and looks strong, i will support her. However, I think Palinstinans like you will vote Turd party if your dream-girl isn't the nominee.

Disappointing, but not surprising. The big-money players either already gave to Romney or are waiting on Perry.

$$$+no votes=fail.

I imagine quite a few individual donors are waiting to see if Bachmann has staying power.

And yet you don’t seem to refute anything I say. A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G. Sorry Lindy. “Sleeper Troll” is a badge of honor for me. Argue facts, or continue the preschool BS. Either way is fine with me. Play to the crowd and see where it gets you.

Why is it so hard for you PDSers to accept any critique of your sacred cows but expect Palin supporters to roll over and bow to your whims whenever you mouth off? Not happening.

BTW, please cite chapter and verse where ‘sleeper/lurkers’ have been criminalized on FR by anyone but you and your like minded buddies. Could it be that since you run from the facts and start juvenile name calling, it’s YOU that is trolling?

I didn’t bother to read your cheesy little post. I really don’t care what your opinion is.

Have a nice Friday evening, if you can.

Please tell me why you felt that inserting the phrase “dream girl” was required. Did it add anything constructive? Why can’t you simply discuss the facts or opinions regarding Palin, without resorting to juvenile name calling?

Eventually you’re going to see that dropping the catty remarks will help the discussion for all of us immensely.

Yes, people tend to avoid things they don’t want to see. Thank you for making my point.

Nice try, but you pulled that out of your azz, and you know it. Check my posting history for "petty disingenuous sniping" about Michele Bachmann, and you won't find it. That's your domain, PDSer.

I've posted honest critiques of Bachmann, but that's about it. Again, go find a snarling nasty hit that I've posted to prove your point, if you can.

Projection is not your friend, friend.

Oh, I'd love to help them, and Lord knows that I really have tried, but they proved to have an impenetrable force field of ignorance that no facts, reason, or logic could puncture.

I've given up, sad to say, and am now resigned to simply pointing at them and laughing.

Rollins was Reagan's campaign manager in 1984. Did that make Reagan and RINO or part of the establishment? Probably, in your mind, yes.
