The much awaited figures for Michele Bachmanns fundraising in the second quarter of the fiscal year reported today did nothing to burnish her image as the up and coming Republican. Her total of $2 million raised in the last three months plus two million more shifted from her congressional campaign account illustrated that for all of the progress her candidacy has made in the last several weeks, she seems to lack the infrastructure and staff work that more established hopefuls have already put into place. The high expectations her poll figures have produced means pulling in only $2 million has to be considered something of a disappointment.
Bachmanns excuses for this showing will center on the fact that at the start of the quarter she barely had a campaign, let alone the sort of organization that would allow her to rake in the big bucks. Her Internet fundraising operation, key to a grass roots populist candidacy such as hers, so far lacks the sophistication and promotional efforts needed for her to harness the energy of enthusiastic Tea Party and conservative Christian backers.
If she can manage to put together a better online effort in the coming months, then she may be able to start raising the big bucks from a broad base of small contributors that could help put the nomination within reach. But if she fails to do so, this shortfall will put a brake on both her momentum and her ability to compete with the cash-rich Mitt Romney.
Having lifted herself from the second tier to leading alternative to the frontrunner in just a few weeks, Bachmann no longer has the ability to fly below the radar. The congresswomans fast start has set high expectations that require her to do more than just skate by. If Bachmanns performance in the Iowa straw poll in August or the next fundraising report again falls short of what we believe a first-tier candidate must do, her hopes will suffer.
Oh I was ;) Gonna be alot worse this go around I imagine.
Then you DO know and yes, I figure that when Palin throws her hat into the ring, it WILL get worse here, for the “outs”.
And about twenty or so will seethe with indignation......
I think the term “Pandemonium” will apply ;)
Yea, I have been glued to FR for every election. There’s always a lot of open warfare for sure, but Palin seems to bring out the worst in her detractors. Not going to be a pretty primary. Once she get the nod though, it’ll probably get even worse around here. I pray it doesn’t and that we can all just get it done.
Just to be clear though, If for some reason Palin does NOT get it, I an NOT going to ‘sit’ it out. Obama has to be dethroned.
And somewhere, one former virulent little troll’s head will explode. But no one will be there to hear it.
She can; and she knows all this.
This is why Sarah Palin is confident that she will win; or at least one reason.
You betcha........that thread WILL be bigger than the UNDEAD THREAD and I'll be smilling !
You betcha.....that thread WILL be longer than the UNDEAD THREAD and I'll be smiling a big smile.
I know that Obama is losing to a generic GOPer, right now; however, once we have a nominee, it really won't be easy to dethrone crybaby Obama. That's why it just has to be Palin.
What did I tell you just a couple of days after Rollins attacked Sarah Palin?
I noted that the positive responses on Michele Bachmann's Facebook pages had dropped about 90% in those two days. Her fundraising now reflects an 80% drop from the first quarter.
Of course, someone with a PHD in Statistics from WEB-U would tell us that, "correlation does not imply causality."
Detractors aside, I really don’t see any groundswell out there for anyone else. I don’t dislike Bachmann and would vote for her, problems and all, and I like the Herminator. Both have great and very conservative ideas in the big picture. But neither really inspires me to ‘Want’ to vote for them.
I have read Going Rogue and will by the DVD when it’s out but that’s mostly because I want to support her in whatever way I can. I want to see it, but I don’t ‘need’ to.
I like wher her head is at with my pet issue - Enviro/landuse and I like how she deals with idiots. THAT inspires me and makes me want to vote for her AGAIN ;)
The fact that she has so many political enemies is also a biggie. That means that she likely will not roll and be co-opted so easily as a current DC politico.
I am not ashamed to admit, Palin is the only candidate willing and proven able to go toe to toe and slam the media back to where it belongs - Reporting on, not determining policy. The media has far too much influence over the weak minded. She has contempt for them and for good reason.
Lastly, she “IS” a redneck snowbilly hick. And I like that. A LOT. I think the intellectual elite (not that Palin is a dummy, far from it) has proven that Harvard/Yale degrees are about the last thing this country needs governing it.
Actually there’s about a thousand more, but this;ll do for now ;)
The fact of the matter,re candidates, both declared and not, on our side, EXCEPT FOR GOVERNOR PALIN, have NO sizable grassroots backing. There are good reasons for that and good reasons why Palin has a large and deep group behind her.
In truth, I used to be very open towards Bachmann. She's the one who has completely turned me off and it's not just the Rollins thing.
She and Cain have one considerable problem, though Cain's problems ( why NOBODY should vote for him in the primaries ) are many and major. Time was, nobody would ever consider someone running for president with his CV. Just because he has been a successful businessman and a conservative aren't presidential qualifications. Now don't get me wrong, I think that he is genuine and probably a very nice man, but he shouldn't be in the race any more than Trump should have been; though THE DONALD has a far better knowledge of pols than Cain has.
I'm going to get the DVD of the Palin documentary and make sure that I show it to as many people as I possibly can. :-)
What really turned me off to MB as a serious consideration aside from SP was the Birther issue initially. Slapping half the base in the face is not a shrewd move. Rollins finished it. That was moronic in every sense of the word. Campaign against the status quo then hire it? Not bright. But still better out of what’s left than most, even with my considerable problems with her.
Cain, would be top 3 for me at the moment just because he represents a no-bs approach to business, regulation and Sharptonesque race bating crap.
If Palin does in fact get in (and of course I believe strongly that she will) it will come down to Palin/Bachmann (barring further screw ups) or Palin/Perry. That man I do NOT trust. But I’m willing to listen to his ideas. He’ll have to sell me.
But For me, A Palin/West ticket in the big show is the best of all worlds. Hope she drafts him.
Lets just stick to the topic and to the facts..........okay?
Ah...I am extremely confused. you said the following
“She and Cain have one considerable problem, though Cain’s problems ( why NOBODY should vote for him in the primaries ) are many and major. Time was, nobody would ever consider someone running for president with his CV. Just because he has been a successful businessman and a conservative aren’t presidential qualifications. Now don’t get me wrong, I think that he is genuine and probably a very nice man, but he shouldn’t be in the race any more than Trump should have been; though THE DONALD has a far better knowledge of pols than Cain has. “
And I responded to your statement that MB and Cain have considerable problems and got into qualifications. I responded with what I feel their problems are.
I was under the impression that that’s what we were talking about.
Lets let this thread die a peaceful death.
Works for me ;)
You have mail.
AWESOME!!!
We are in total agreement, could not have said it better
