Bachmann`s fund raising very weak
Commentary Magazine ^ | July 15 2011 | Friendofgeorge

Posted on 07/15/2011 1:25:52 PM PDT by Friendofgeorge

The much awaited figures for Michele Bachmann’s fundraising in the second quarter of the fiscal year reported today did nothing to burnish her image as the up and coming Republican. Her total of $2 million raised in the last three months plus two million more shifted from her congressional campaign account illustrated that for all of the progress her candidacy has made in the last several weeks, she seems to lack the infrastructure and staff work that more established hopefuls have already put into place. The high expectations her poll figures have produced means pulling in only $2 million has to be considered something of a disappointment.

Bachmann’s excuses for this showing will center on the fact that at the start of the quarter she barely had a campaign, let alone the sort of organization that would allow her to rake in the big bucks. Her Internet fundraising operation, key to a grass roots populist candidacy such as hers, so far lacks the sophistication and promotional efforts needed for her to harness the energy of enthusiastic Tea Party and conservative Christian backers.

If she can manage to put together a better online effort in the coming months, then she may be able to start raising the big bucks from a broad base of small contributors that could help put the nomination within reach. But if she fails to do so, this shortfall will put a brake on both her momentum and her ability to compete with the cash-rich Mitt Romney.

Having lifted herself from the second tier to leading alternative to the frontrunner in just a few weeks, Bachmann no longer has the ability to fly below the radar. The congresswoman’s fast start has set high expectations that require her to do more than just skate by. If Bachmann’s performance in the Iowa straw poll in August or the next fundraising report again falls short of what we believe a first-tier candidate must do, her hopes will suffer.

This is a case in point, where Rollins gets, from you and others who bring this up, faaaaaaaaaaar more credit than is his due. Rollins did little to to enhance Reagan's re-election blowout. It was also prior to Ed's biggest gaffes and major backstabbings.

Look up Rollins and "walking around money", because I don't feel like schooling you and wasting my time writing it all out, yet again.

Yea...the Palin threads are always attack-free. Only on Bachmann threads is there ever a problem. Why just the other night several...ahem... ‘Freepers’ didn’t senselessly and without provocation attack a person for a Palin supportive comment or carry it on for hours. Must have been our imagination.

But God, don’t let anyone have a rational disagreement on a Bachmann thread... That’s a ‘Flash Mob”!

The double standard here is nauseating.

Speaking of "worship" there seem to be a few Bachmann supporters here who can't deal with a little analysis of Bachmann's fund raising numbers. And speaking of being unforgiving, it's usually a simple apology that precedes forgiveness

I am not yet a Bachmann supporter. But the media's attempts to demonize her do not speak well of her being "their candidate". I definitely prefer her over Mitt. Before "the insult", everyone at FR loved Bachmann, which makes me think the PAS is out of hand. If Palin runs, and looks strong, i will support her.

The media is taking two approaches with Bachmann. They push Bachmann to the Tea Party crowd while they trash her in front of everybody else. They will continue to push Bachmann to the Tea Party crowd until she draws even with Palin. If she ever does draw even with Palin, then the media will have what they want, which is a split in the Tea Party vote and Mitt as our nominee.

However, I think Palinstinans like you will vote Turd party if your dream-girl isn't the nominee.

Well you were starting to sound reasonable until that brain spasm. Bachmann is still my second choice, based on her voting record, and based on the way she has taken it to Obama. That said, she has become a distant second for me, for various reasons.

Look, do me a favor. Don't make any attempts to put words such as "she's my dream girl" and "I'd vote third party" in my mouth. You're not smart enough to get it right.

Hey, lets just use their own words against them! The minute one of the usual wack-a-moles pops up on a Palin thread, lets all yell out...."Bachmann flash mob mole".

Ever notice the PDS brigade uses all sorts of leftist language and Alinsky techniques? Projection (flash mob), Personalizing Freezing and demonizing opponents( The thread iI previously refrenced)? Ridicule (Dream Girl/Palin-istinians)? Never addressing the issues and misdirection (pretty much every time one of us responds)? Then some publicly voice for preference for Democrats (see prior RINOS Suck/Clinton post or the repeated claim that Obama is better than McCain would have been)? And just like the Democrat Leftists, they get rabid when we fight back and then the accusations fly.

After a while it all adds up. Does not take a lot to figure where the preference really lies.

Any reader that dedicated some time to going over the threads in question would see a glowing in neon colors pattern and it is not coming from the Palin supporters.

But ‘We’ are the mob...No. The facts do not back that up.

Thanks :)

I really did not intend for this to become a thread about yours truly.

I knew MB had put off her announcement until the 15th, thought it was suspicious? Had to search quite long to find it today.

Speaking of suspicious...Couple LSM polls are overdue...NBC/WSJ and CNN. I am wondering what kind of shenanigans they are up to? Will they include Gov Palin in the polls as they have been, or will they omit her to give MB a bounce? Neither one of these polls has come out since she announced her run for the Presidency.

At any rate you can be sure they do not want Gov Palin to do well in them.

You're absolutely correct!

I post something factual and the PDers go bananas; use Alinsky tactics, never refute what I or anyone else has posted, and swarm every single thread werein Palin is even vaguely mentioned.

I have mostly stayed off other candidates/wannabes/maybes threads, but that's over now. They can dish it out, but when facts, real, actual, hard facts get posted, re their candidate, they can't take it and neither can their CHOSEN ONES!

Bachmann is getting "trashed" by the MSM? Her supporters don't know what TRASHING is !

I have had many talks with RINOs suck, he has called me everything from a monster to a POS, you name it.

He swore to everybody about 6 weeks ago that Palin was his first choice, he then switched to Bachmann (so he says) and in the last week or so he says he is for Perry.

All I know is he does not have a kind word for any of the Palin children, refers to Palin supporters in the 3rd person.

Suspicious comes to mind.

Their whole intent seems to mirror the leftist/Democrat tactic of making SP supporters shut up. Andrew Klavan had a great Klavan on the culture that if you removed Dem/Lib/Left and substituted PDSer there would be no difference.

Perhaps it’s time that THEY ‘Just shut up” instead.

He and the gang are exactly the same type that stood up and screamed “How dare you question my patriotism!!” with righteous indignation after 9/11...right before they whined and cried about ‘American aggression and ‘violence and bigotry’ toward Muslims.

Now it’s “How dare you question my Conservatism!!!? in righteous indignation right before they start barking like liberal moonbats. I’ll say it again. Anyone that thinks I’m full of it just needs to read the threads and see for themselves.

At this point in time, polls don't matter one whit. OTOH, raising money, turnout at events, and such is what matters right now and through the primaries. We should stick to facts and not use lies. innuendos, nor lefty tactics and/or talking points!

Thanks for the link.

Yup, and the constant negativity dished out on the Palin threads is designed to do one thing. Make people so fed up with politics in general that they just ‘shut up’ and stay home/not become involved in the process.

In my former life I dealt with a lot of eco nuts who used to go to outdoor recreation boards, pose as ‘outdoorsmen’ and stir holy hell. They were the greatest of hunters that backed gun control. Avid boaters who wanted motors banned on public waterways and avid campers who ‘felt’ that we must lock up as much land as possible ‘for future generations.’

It’s all smoke and mirrors. Some PDSers are simply followers who bandwagon the Palin threads for attention and acceptance. But there are some who I assure you from experience with their brethren, are far from conservative and I don’t care how long they’ve been here or what their ‘About’ page says.

How else do you explain their behavior?

Unless you weren’t reading FR, whilst you weren’t posting, you have no idea just how “BAD” it gets here during primary and election seasons. This is par for the course, here; just on steroids.
