Eric, dont call my bluff, the president said, warning Cantor that he would take his case to the American people. He told Cantor that no other president not Ronald Reagan, the president said would put up with the treatment he was getting from the House majority leader.
The latest and sharpest in a series of harsh exchanges between the two leaders heightened concern that markets could crash at any time amid fear of a reduction in the rating on once-ironclad U.S. debt.
Cantor accused the president and congressional Democrats of progressively low-balling, over the last several days, the savings that could be achieved from proposals discussed by Vice President Joe

I agree. Over 10 years, 2.5T would probably be only a 10% reduction in deficits. We’ll add $22.5 Trillion of new debt instead of $25.0 Trillion.

RT @CBSAndrew Never mind a groundbreaking deal, our political leaders evidently can’t even agree upon how deficit/debt meeting ended today
My dream...
Republicans: “President Obama could easily ensure all benefits will be paid during this supposed ‘crisis’ by eliminating Foreign Aide. If Obama would rather give these benefits to other countries rather than the American people whose taxes earned them, remember that it was not the Republican Party that stopped your grandmother’s social Security check from coming.”
Simple and instant 100% support for the Repubs.

By the confession of his own mouth, he IS bluffing.
Hold the line, Mister Cantor. His right hand is broken and the fight is yours.
Oh yeah, McConnell you can STFU.
Gingrich was dealing with "Slick Willie".
There ain't no such thing as "Slick Barry".
Forgive me Mr. President, didn’t you take your case to tue American People las November and didn’t they puke on it?
Yeah, that’s kind of effed up. Trying to make a simp look strong imho.
I got news for you zero. The American public is sick of hearing your crap.
Forgive me Mr. President, didn’t you take your case to tue American People las November and didn’t they puke on it?
Translation: Obama aide says, "I know you are but what am I?"
Obama is nothing more than a pouty child, and his aides act like children, too.
That dumb bunny Jonathan thinks he’ll survive the hangman.
Every meal is possibly his last.
‘bout time!
I’m not against foreign aide, but it needs to benefit the United States. It’s a tool that often times is used against ourselves. The worst examples are the those that denounce us after we fund them (United Nations and the Palestinians)
The same can be said for foreign trade. Remember when Congress had to vote annually for MFN status on China? Communist countries should have very limited access to our financial system and definately should not have more favorable trade rules than free countries. It’s not just a trade issue, it’s a foreign policy issue.
The same is true for immigration and defense.
Democratic officials had a different interpretation. “The meeting ended with Cantor being dressed down while sitting in silence,” one official said in an email. “[The president] said Cantor could not have it both ways of insisting on dollar-for-dollar and still not being open to revenues.”

Now Obambi is praising Mcconnell
“”Talk about arbitrary,” he said of Cantor’s figure, according to a Democratic attendee. “I am totally willing to do the hard stuff to get well above what you need and you won’t do it because you can’t put one penny of revenue on the table.”
“At least Mitch McConnell, to his credit, was willing to work for a solution,” the president added, acknowledging the proposal by the Senate Minority Leader to, essentially, give him the authority to lift the debt ceiling without passing commensurate cuts”
I have a sick feeling this is blowing up in our faces. This whole debt default topic is too susceptible to spin and pinning blame.
On one side you have:
- Alinsky tactics, lying, no social security checks, etc.
- 97% of the media outlets carrying water for them and just spewing their talking points
- Treasury secretary talking up economic armageddon if the debt limit is not raised, so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy
On the other side you have:
- Boehner (possibly breaking down in tears at any moment) and 2 other naive babes in the woods in Cantor and McConnell.
This is not looking good.
congratulations are in order and can be sent here......

someone needs to continually remind that assnine communist raghead wannabee at 1600 pennsylvania ave that his crap does stink, and its stinking up the whole country
okay it is not nice, but I’ve had it with him
I agree with you.
Where is Palin’s message on this?
Btw, Cantor had replaced Boehner in the talks according to one piece I read.
I wonder why?
I;m not either really. Any country that is aligned with us and if it’s beneficial to do so, I’m all for it. But most of the FA is a total waste.
But take a page from the Dem book. Play hardball and put it on the table. The public, dems included will not want granny to lose the SS check. The dems have done this for years. Turn it back on them on every issue.
No need to raise tax, cut FA.
No need to starve the poor with a choice of food or gas/high gas prices, Drill more.
All those issues are easily winnable if the Repubs would just stop the pussified crap and play verbal hardball whether they mean it or not. The majority of dems would go against Obama on all of them if the Reps would push it.
