Democrats and the Social Security Trust Fund Lie Exposed today

This has been one of my favorite subjects for years but today Democrats exposed themselves on it with the threat over the debt limit. Start with Democrat Senate Majority leader Harry Reid.

“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday disputed warnings that Social Security is headed for bankruptcy, calling those assertions an “outright lie.” And he says the huge federal entitlement program has not added “one penny” to the federal deficit.”

OK, so Social Security does not add one penny, not one! If that is the case then this must be explained:

“President Obama on Tuesday said he cannot guarantee that retirees will receive their Social Security checks August 3 if Democrats and Republicans in Washington do not reach an agreement on reducing the deficit in the coming weeks. “I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it,” Mr. Obama said in an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, according to excerpts released by CBS News. ”

Anyone (besides me) think to ask Democrats how raising the debt ceiling is required to make Social Security payments when they are claiming it doesn’t add a penny to the national Debt? Don’t worry. Congressional Republicans appear tied to the imaginary $2T SS trust fund too because that allows them to delay spending cuts until the distant future, you know when the imaginary trust fund runs out? So they are not ratting out Obama and Reid on it.

I have occasionally listened to him too , that is another big lie too.

A T-bill is a legal document that requires the govmt repay a investor, individual, corporation, mutual fund back principle and interest.

But a SS IOU is from the government to itself. There is no legal requirement to pay SS recipients beyond current spending law. Congress can and has and may cut those payments, or tax them more.

If congress was to pass a law negating T-bills repayment the Federal government could be sued by the investor. But we have no recourse, the SCOTUS long ago decided recipients are not legally entitled to SS.

SS IOUs are just worthless paper saying the government owes itself money. But those elected will never admit that.

Well duh ! it should be no surprise that the congresses with Reagan, GHWB, Clinton, and GWB all spent these excess FICA taxes (SS/FICA started running deficits in 2009) .

The big lie was that the money was being put in a trust fund for our retirement . The bigger and bolder lie is that it is there now. In spite of being clearly exposed as a lie this week, as documented in the body of this post for all time (by me ) , both parties are still standing behind the big lie.

This is why Republicans lose me. I don't hear no candidates talking about this, nor is Palin(that I have seen). Just waiting for the Germany and China to bail us out and dictate the terms.

Someone at DU asks the question, about their own Democrats big lie about SS not adding to deficit:

The 14 trillion dollar debt figure comes from $ 11 T publicly held (or Federal reserve) treasury notes and 3 trillion dollars IOUs from treasury held by Social Security. So to make SS payments the IOU # $3T goes down and the public debt number $11T goes up, requiring a debt limit increase to pay it. The second number is real debt to individuals, companies, mutual funds, pensions, except the Federal reserve and the SS IOUs to itself.

As a funny aside, Ron Paul suggested the US government should default on it's debt to the Federal Reserve since we will never pay back any any of the principle we owe anyway and the FR is part of the government in a sense, another subject they don't want discussed. He has a way of hitting the nerve sometimes.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the DHS’ own internal documents list predominantly white conservative groups as the most likely terrorists, such as Ron Paul supporters, gun owners, gold bullion enthusiasts, and a myriad of other comparatively banal political interests that are largely the domain of white middle class Americans.
