In related news, Mexican and Canadian retailers are gearing-up for a big increase in mail orders for incandescent bulbs. Moron Dems just never get it, do they?

I prefer the fluorescent bulbs. They are kinder to my electric bill. Having said that, now government is trying to force people to make the switch. I do not prefer that.

might as well have given it in large bills to Charlie Sheen to snort coke off his hookers’ bellies with

Well, at least then the money wouldn't have been wasted.

All of this partisan bullshite is really pissing me off.

The only reason the Dems want to shoot this down is because it is sponsored by a Republican and Boehner is giving the business to Their Boy Obama.

To hell with what is good for the country and to hell with what We The People want. It's all about tit for tat you know.

One more glaring sign of the utter uselessness of the dim bulb Republicans.

I have an entire hall closet filled with 40, 60, and 75 watters. Good for the remainder of my life - NO GOVERNMENT is going to tell me what bulb I can light up.

So, how many negatives can someone cram into a title?

“ban repeal defeat”...

so... can we have our lightbulbs or what?

Start saving your dead CFLs now because they will become valuable during the election season of 2012. In fact, they may become as symbolic as tea was before the Revolutionary War.

Here is how CFLs can affect the next election.

Wherever Dems gather to rally during the election, break a CFL and call for hazmat teams. Across this country, make it impossible for them to gather and spew their agenda. Let hundreds or thousands of CFLs die daily so the networks cannot avoid reporting on it. And when they do report on it, force the conversation to how the Dems are all for taking choice away from the American public. Show them to be the elite nannies that they are and how they care more for the power to control us than they do for our welfare.

The cost will be small, but the effect will be great.

The old incandescent bulb is clearly an energy hog. Just 5 percent of the electricity it uses lights the bulb – the rest ends up as heat.

Sometimes 95% heat is desirable.

First they came for our light bulbs
But I wasn’t a light bulb so I did not stand to object...

In my opinion, this is precisely the type of simple, easy-to-understand issue that conservatives need to elevate during the next election cycle.

The underlying point is that no one on our side is making this an "either/or" issue. If you like fluorescents, knock yourself out. What is reprehensible is the prohibition on a product that has served us well for decades, and which is objectively safer for personal use than its alternative.

This is preposterous, nanny-state governance writ large (or small, depending on your point of view). The fundamental question: if they can ban incandescents, what would keep them from banning anything they choose?

I don’t mind the light CFLs give off but, they don’t last near as long as touted. And the warmup time is annoying.
I’ve been told by someone w/ the power Co. that they have to run 15 min. before you start getting any savings.
So I’ve started going back to incandescents in some fixtures.

LEDs are way too expensive and I question the longevity.
While the actual LED may last, what about the other electronics in the light?

Fred Upton brought the bill up this way to be sure it failed. He was one of the people who sponsored the original bill this bill would amend. He knew this bill couldn’t get a super majority.

What the dim bulbs do in Washington on this matter will not affect me. I have a lifetime supply of Thomas Alva Edison’s incandescent bulbs(in all wattages) in my cabinet. In fact, my supply will probably out last me.I guess the great-grand kids can use them for target practice if any guns are still allowed.

I continue to stock up, esp. with 100-watt bulbs. Heck, at some point I’ll have a lifetime supply—being an old guy.

Not surprising since the GOP is lead by folks who are more infatuated with the prestige ,perks & social status of elected office than doing / fighting for what is right for the nation.
