From mormon secondamendmentkid: "Most people will tell you that the Mormons they know are well meaning, honest individuals (of course except for Harry Reid) that DO NOT proselytize or mock other religions".

From mountainbunny in a great rant: "They don't proselytize? What in the world do you think all those nice young Mormon men do for the year that they go abroad? They go door to door and proselytize. It's required of all young Mormon men.

They don't mock other religions? Again, you're wrong. Why are you telling obvious untruths?

Mormons take the records of people who died as Martyrs for their Faith and "convert" them in proxy baptism. Jews who were marched to their deaths in the gas chambers simply because they were Jewish are baptized in death as Mormons. Because their faith wasn't good enough and they need to be saved by Mormons.

Mormons don't mock other faiths? Mormons mock all other faiths. .

No matter how many times the Mormon Church promises to stop, they find excuses to lie and continue this vile practice. Gotta put those Jews who were marched to their deaths in their place, you know? They were willing to die for God rather than try to hide their faith, but God's Chosen People aren't good enough for the Mormons.

Bears repeating, over and over!

Were you a Mormon, and if not, then how did you come by your knowledge of it?

Internet.

Knowledge abounds!

That is so comical I can barely respond.

You are absolutely correct if you don't count the 52K+ people who ride on those little bikes and annoy you at dinner time. Or that the very foundation of mormonISM is anti-Christian IE: whores of Babylon.

Thanks Colofornian. I don’t do the LDS threads anymore because I just don’t have the time nor energy any longer.

Far as Romney goes... I call him “Plastic Man” at home...mostly because of his perfectly groomed Ken doll hair. If the guy would just take a firm stance on something...

He’s also a typical politician. He’ll say “I’m a life long hunter” but has only hunted squirrels once or twice growing up. No that isn’t a life long hunter. Besides that the 2nd Amendment isn’t about hunting.

“I am firmly pro-life”...except in cases of rape, incest, etc. No that isn’t “firmly” pro-life. That’s pro-life with exemptions. And even with those you aren’t fully truthful because your RomneyCare allows tax payer funded elective abortions.

I do not support Romney particularly as a candidate. I do however support ANY candidate running against Obama in order of priority. Same as I did in 2008. Romney was near the bottom of my list in 2008. Only McCain was below him. Everyone else got knocked out or dropped out as the process went along.

This time around pretty much the same thing, except starting with LT Col Allen West and/or Sarah Palin at the top (yes I know neither are running). And all the way down there at the bottom is Mitt Romney.

All that said, IF it’s Romney Vs Obama in 2012 you can bloody well bet I’ll be voting Romney because I want Obama OUT of The White House two years ago.

Romney, as misguided liberal RINO as he is, he at least loves the USA, unlike the incompetent boob that’s running the show now.

And I will not vote for Romney under ANY circumstances. If he gets the nomination, I will leave the party because they have already left me.

I have held my nose and voted for far too long, McCain was the LAST time.

I was debating several months ago about whether or not to vote for Romney, and praying for guidance. That Sunday, the sermon my pastor gave was how Christians should never, ever, ever compromise. I took it as an answered prayer.

I will not compromise this time, I cannot do it anymore. I sure as hell don’t want Obama for a second term, but rather than hold my nose and vote, I will do my best to make sure he doesn’t get the nomination.

The internet?! There is so much bad information on the internet, take wikipedia for instance, anyone can post to. I prefer to talk to a Mormon and find out what they believe and why.

What would people be saying if this were a American Indian candidate (pick any tribe) that is traditional? Do you think there would be the same treatment?

You made my point without knowing it. I was refering to sticking to the Romney’s viewpoints on issues, rather than going along with the Lefty crowd who are mocking his faith. Obviously, you can’t help yourself. You have to mock. Too bad.

I understand that a person’s faith affects their worldview. How do you think his faith affected his governorship?

You are assuming they would tell you the truth. Mormons have this teaching/practice of ‘lying for the Lord’, in other words misleading, misdirecting, obfuscating and outright lying about their doctrines (and even their definitions - they have different definitions for basic terms like scripture, saved, grace, God, savior, atonement). One of the reasons I ended up not serving my LDS mission is I was told specifically NOT to discuss and even lie about certain teachings and doctrines (such as mother in heaven, god was once a man and a sinner, Jesus was married and a polygamist. I couldn’t figure out why, if we had the truth, did we need to lie. The response from my professor was shocking “If we told the truth, no one would join”.

You really want to know what they believe? Ask an ex-mormon.

Some reliable (and well sourced) sites are

MormonOutreach.org

Utlm.org (excellent on history/doctrine)

TRUTHSHALLSETUFREE.COM

exmormon.org

TILM.org

Mitt Romney is not Joseph Smith. Do you have any proof that Romney would try to appoint himself king of the world? No. Do you think that he would be demanding folks give up their virgin girls and property? Surely, you don’t. Alot has happened since the 1844. There have been changes in the Mormon church, or so I heard. I think some of the things they believe in sound strange, but I don’t know why they believe them. In other words, I don’t have all the parts to the puzzle. Neither do you.

I posed the following question to another poster: Would a candidate be attacked if he/she were a practicing traditional American Indian?

- - - - -
Remember, I see things a bit differently. I know what goes on in Mormonism, I know the oaths he took.

Gay marriage - actually supported by more mormons than most people think because they recognize it as a door to open the return of polygamy (which is required for godhood according to their scriptures).

Feelings before facts - things like Romneycare. Mormons determine ‘truth’ not based upon facts but by praying and receiving a ‘burning in the bosom’, which will make something true to them, even if it is contrary to facts.

Pro-choice - Mormons believe that there are ‘spirit babies’ waiting for bodies, but they don’t need to be born in order to get a body and children of rape, with birth defects and the like are PROOF you aren’t living the LDS gospel. Many LDS aren’t as pro-life as they appear and many more support exceptions for abortion. The attitude has changed a lot in the past 20 years regarding having large families, some do, but many are opting not to, at about the same rate as the rest of America.

I’m sure there are other things, but those are the three most talked about regarding his Governorship. Give ma a few other events/policies and I will look at them and see if there are any connections.

I can see is religion causing more problems with him as POTUS, including the LDS view of “Israel” and “Zion” as well as Mitt believing (like Glenn Beck) that he is the fulfillment of the the White Horse Prophecy.

TWO exclusive events

1. You can talk to a Mormon till the cows and goats come home but just like in these threads you wont get a straight answer

a. The Mormon may not know him or herself...even the missionariesx are in the dark about their own religious history and doctrines
b. They may know but theyre in denial
c. Moslems have a special word for lying to infidels/gentiles/apostates

2. To find out what Mormons believe dont go to a modern living Mormon...ask the original Mormons who set up the religion: Joey Smith, Brigham Young, John Taylor, etc...their doctrines are still Mormon beliefs...

3. Just because YOU havent seen a Mormon practicing what the doctrines require...doesnt mean that same Mormon doesnt believe it and would be in there boots and all if not for the bad PR for SLC...

Not really that many changes, at least not doctrine wise.

And Mormonism won’t set up a theocracy (according to their teachings) until Christ returns to Missouri, then it shall be “Joseph Smith or the sword”
