A Seattle police officer has been charged with fourth-degree assault in connection with a December 2010 fight outside a bar. But the police union president said not only was the officer a victim of a brutal attack, but the victim of a hate crime.

"The Seattle Police Officers Guild is outraged by the decision of the city Attorney Peter Holmes to charge Seattle Police Officer Garth Haynes with assault. The whole story has yet to be told regarding this incident," said police guild president Rich O'Neill.

Haynes faces a maximum of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine if convicted of the gross misdemeanor. He is currently on administrative reassignment.

What happened to that guard that smacked around a young girl in her prison cell when she kicked a slipper at the guard. There was a video of him just smacking her around as she lay on the cement floor. Creep.

Ummmm....lemme guess.....Haynes is black and the guy he beat down, handcuffed and bludgeoned is white.....”That Honky em’eff called me N______.” Race card plays, even when the hand is over.
This appears to be a story with no good guys.
VIDEO OF INCIDENT:
Watch towards the end, after everyone is handcuffed and laying on the ground...

Seattle fun.
EVERYONE IN THE VIDEO IS WHITE!!!!!
COPS, SUSPECTS, BYSTANDERS, EVERYONE!!!!
“Kicking someone in the head while they are lying on the ground is a felony for non-cops. “
Oughta be Attempted Murder!

The City Attorneys Office brought the gross misdemeanor charge against Haynes after the King County Prosecutors Office declined to charge him with a felony.

Citizen who kicks a defenseless man = 1st degree assault charges, as well as assault with a deadly weapon
Cop who kicks a defenseless man = 4th degree assault.
Of course! This is Seattle. A Liberal utopia.
surely you don't think they'd allow any non-whites to ruin it for them, do you?
(neighborhood has heavy Norwegian roots)
The only person in the video who is not white is Officer Haynes who is currently under arrest for kicking a handcuffed man in the skull while he was prone.
It looks like the cops were already beating the kids on the ground when the 2nd cop car got there.
While Haynes, who is black, was talking to the woman, he was jumped from behind by three white men.
(edit)
O'Neill said he takes issue that Haynes received a concussion and a black eye and the men responsible were not charged, but Haynes is now charged with assault for the off duty incident even though the men were not injured.

Not a very good video image, but...
From what I could see the cop put his foot against the guy’s head and shoved it.
Not exactly a kick, and not really a stomp. The relevant issue for those two being impact speed.
Impolite and insulting, but not really intended to cause injury, which it appears it did not.
If my jacket had been stolen and I had been jumped by THREE racially-motivated thugs who beat me up to the point of my getting a concussion and a black eye, I’m doubtful that I would have been able to muster the restraint that Officer Haynes did, which is one of the reasons why I’m not a law enforcement professional. Concussions aren’t typically noted for enhancing cognitive function.
That being said, OF COURSE what Officer Haynes did was wrong, but I would be interested in seeing the additional evidence that the Guild President refers to.....and learning why the three attackers weren’t charged. Too many unanswered questions here.
