(Washington, DC) -- Republican congressional leaders are reportedly agreeing to billions of dollars in revenue increases as federal deficit discussions continue.

Republican Senator Jon Kyl announced the move today saying revenue increases don't necessarily mean tax hikes.

On the Senate floor Kyl said, quote, "If the government sells something and gets revenue from it, that's revenue."

He also suggested user fees for government services could provide additional revenue.

He says all the revenue increases Republicans have agreed to amount to between 150 billion and 200 billion dollars.

The democrats are playing this deficit ceiling fight perfectly. They are strengthening their liberal base while getting their opponents base ticked off at them.

The GOP IS the stupid party. They are being played like a fiddle. AGAIN.

No, Sen. Kyl, revenue increases ALWAYS mean tax hikes.

If you don’t understand that, you will when we throw your butt out next go’round!

Thanks, Oceander....I'm not piling on yet-- as everyone else here is so anxious to do - until I hear details. Every pubbie I hear is firm on tax increases.(not happening) I suspect they're giving Obie a morsel, so he won't look de-pantsed when forced to submit to huge budget cuts and no tax increases.

We'll see, but hold your damn fire, everyone.

If you [Sen Kyl] don’t understand that, you will when we throw your butt out next go’round!

Sen Kyl has announced his retirement from the Senate. Won't be a next "go round." He's the perfect drone to announce the cave. He's gone. He doesn't have to worry about pissing off the voters.

BTY, Kyl is from Arizona. There have been rumors that the reason Sarah Palin bought a home in AZ is so she can run for his seat.

Selling Fed land I am fine with. Fees? Possibly acceptable, but easily can become a slippery slope. Plus, with the GOP track record of bending over, I want to see details before I endorse it or get mad.

If a a tax increase is agreed upon by enough members of the GOP to put it over the top, I will never vote GOP again. it will be time to vote libertarian.

"Great! Sell the Post Office!"

Agreed! But the Ayrabbs would probably reject the deal, unless they only got the buildings. ;-)

Maybe TSA could get paid for Breast and Prostate exams they perform? They could send the info directly to HHSA, and the IRS could then send the bill.
