Reporting from Washington The embattled head of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has told congressional investigators that the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration kept his agency "in the dark" about their dealings with Mexican drug cartel figures linked to a controversial gun-trafficking investigation.
Kenneth Melson, the ATF's acting director, has been under pressure to resign over the agency's handling of the gun-trafficking operation, known as Fast and Furious. But in two days of meetings with investigators, Melson disclosed that other law enforcement agencies had a connection to the operation. His statements sharply ratcheted up the affair, and strongly suggested that House and Senate investigations, as well as an internal review by the Justice Department, will widen.
"Our investigation has clearly expanded," one source close to the investigation said Wednesday. "We know now it was not something limited to just a small group of ATF agents in Arizona."

It’s gettin’ uglier and uglier.. load up on popcorn and adult beverages
I was hoping Melson would come clean
Good. Maybe they aren’t all obozo buttlickers at the higher levels.
Bfl.
She’s Come Undone
She’s come undone
She didn’t know
what she was headed for
And when I found
what she was headed for
It was too late
She’s come undone
She found a mountain
that was far too high
And when she found out
she couldn’t fly
It was too late
It’s too late
She’s gone too far
She’s lost the sun
She’s come undone
She wanted truth
but all she got was lies
Came the time to realize
And it was too late
She’s come undone
She didn’t know
what she was headed for
And when I found
what she was headed for
Mama, it was too late
It’s too late
She’s gone too far
She’s lost the sun
She’s come undone
Funny how the headline calls it a “controversy.” I guess “scandals” are for Republican administrations.
..the rats will run out of lifesavers this time. They are starting to figure out, that the little boy king isn’t worth jail time.
Drip drip drip.
Melson should not....
go paddling in a canoe alone
do not visit Arkansas
stay off bridges crossing deep rivers
stay out of airplanes
stay away from tall buildings
do not eat sushi
avoid people with umbrellas
TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 1 > § 4
Prev | Next § 4. Misprision of felony
How Current is This? Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
Are we going to see a perp walk from DOJ? Oh My!
The real ‘shocker’ in this article is this:
On Wednesday, Mexican federal police released a videotaped interrogation with recently captured Jesus Rejon Aguilar, an alleged founder of the Zetas gang there who is wanted in the slaying of a U.S. immigration agent in Mexico. He brazenly told them that all the weapons are bought in the United States and that even the American government itself was selling the weapons.
He added, Whatever you want, you can get.
HMMMMM....we need to find this video! Obama is giving aid and comfort to the drug cartels in Mexico! This is an impeachable offense.
The corruption among law enforcement in this country is rampant, from the smallest city PD all the way up to the Dept of Justice...
IF this guy is telling the whole truth rather than just a scripted version, it has to be because he knows the coverup can get him in more trouble than the original (criminal) acts.
I also found this telling:
Ronald Welch, assistant attorney general for legislative affairs,..... said their main focus is “how best to protect ongoing investigations.”
Oh yes, that touchstone again, “ongoing investigations” is law enforcements/regulatory agencies version of the interstate commerce clause. ANYTHING can be hidden or excused under “ongoing investigations”!
The author of the article continues to support the lie the majority of cartel guns originate in the U.S.!
“Mexican authorities have long complained that most of the guns that fuel the drug wars there are purchased in the U.S.”
In reality this has been discredited for a long time, but the libs continue to spout it as fact.
He even goes so far as to quote a major drug lord, like that’s a credible source.
Can anyone explain what they possibly hoped to accomplish with this exercise?
We are about to witness the greatest CYA caper in the history of the Republic.
I can hardly wait! :-)
They hoped to inflate the numbers of firearms in Mexico that were traceable to being sold in the U.S. then use that to try to restrict Americans’ right to keep and bear arms.
“Can someone explain what they possibly hoped to accomplish with this exercise?”
They wanted to be able to say that Mexico was getting their guns from the USA and we needed to ban all gun sales and gun ownership in the USA.
