The latest edition of the New York Times’s Sunday magazine gave conservatives a rare opportunity to repurpose Times Executive Editor Bill Keller as a pinata, though the paper’s intent may have been to make its conservative critics look irrational. Readers responded bluntly to Keller’s trashing of Sarah Palin in his column for the June 19 issue, in which he claimed “most journalists would recoil in horror from the idea” of a Palin presidency.
The Times printed a full page of letters, a dozen in all, from insulting Keller critics and Palin sympathizers. A few were incisive:
You write that only 21 percent of Americans have a favorable view of Sarah Palin. If you had the press constantly attacking you and putting you under the magnifying glass and all that was reported was negative press, perhaps no one would find favor with you, either. Had your fellow media colleagues given Barack Obama the same treatment as you have given Mrs. Palin, no one would care for him either.
Others were more, um, direct:

Advise you sister to save the six bucks and either go on line for crosswords, buy a book in the grocery or in my favorite place - THE DOLLAR STORE! She would be much happier and could buy starbucks instead,

She's paying 6 bucks a week just to work one crossword? The Omnibus is about 14 bucks for TWO HUNDRED of the Times' Sunday puzzles. It's published by St. Martin's Griffin.
She'll get months of great Sunday puzzles all in one book.
I've been purchasing the Omnibus editions for years. When one book is finished, another new edition is on my book store shelf. Or I order on line and the book is in my mailbox within days.
The puzzles range from medium to very difficult....and I love working them. They are challenging......plus they're a serene mental escape from the political and cultural wars that occupy our attention every day.
Tell your sister about this wonderful crossword bargain. When anyone gives the New York Slimes $6 every week, it's mindless feeding the hand that bites us.

Keller may be a leftist, elitist, communist, socialist, but other than that I bet he just a swell, all-around great guy. :-) I bet he loves his daughter even though she thinks Sarah Palin is “cool”.

Liberals are too stupid to understand the effects of their hatred. The constant liberal drumbeat of humiliation and contempt for conservatives takes a toll... Hitler did the same to Jews in pre-war Germany... he knew the effects of "hate propaganda". I guess Keller lacks the wit to see the obvious - that he's doing the same.
