The wrong John Wayne (Rollins appears to be Bachman's Idiot)
washington times ^ | 6/27 | Dinan

Posted on 06/27/2011 11:54:18 AM PDT by RummyChick

Rep. Michele Bachmann kicked off her presidential campaign on Monday in Waterloo, Iowa, and in one interview surrounding the official event she promised to mimic the spirit of Waterloo's own John Wayne.

The only problem, as one eagle-eyed reader notes: Waterloo's John Wayne was not the beloved movie star, but rather John Wayne Gacy, the serial killer.

Mrs. Bachmann grew up in Waterloo, and used the town as the backdrop for her campaign announcement, where she told Fox News: "Well what I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That's the kind of spirit that I have, too."

(Someone has already posted the clip to YouTube under the name BachmannLovesGacy) John Wayne, the movie legend, is in fact from Iowa and the John Wayne birthplace is a celebrated landmark — only it's in Winterset, which is a nearly three hour drive away from Waterloo. Gacy, though, had his first taste of the criminal life in Waterloo, where he lived for a short time, and where he had his first criminal conviction for an attempted homosexual assault, which landed him in prison for 18 months. He would move back to Illinois, where his killing spree started, and lasted about six years. In 1980 he was convicted on 33 counts of murder, and was executed in 1994.

And if you took you PDS blinders off, you’d see that I (and many Palin supporters) was an impassioned supporter of her UNTIL she hired that goon Rollins. Don’t you think it’s at all hypocritical she won’t apologize for Rollins yet she wont’ accept an apology from Wallace?

Frankly I have decided not to vote for these ladies. I have had enough.

I will sit out the primaries. None of them are worth this crap. They really are not.

Myself. I do not understand it. When it vomes to experience, she is the WEAKEST csndidate running. On top of that, she would give Biden a run for his money on who is more gaff prone. I guess these Bachman folks just want them a Sarah so bad, without it being Sarah. BWAHAHAHA!! Not in a million years!!

So are you an ally of the communist North Koreans?

What sort of stupid non-sequitur is that? You slandered TWO of conservatism's brightest lights on the premier conservative forum on the internet.

Now face the charge.

Marion Robert Morrison is listed on the Madison county registry. It is also the name used that is on the sign of his birthplace.

Yep, drops her down to a joke candidate IMO.
Did Rollins set her up for this?

As I recall, she blamed the Lexington/Concord mistake on a telepropter.

That is even worse than just getting it wrong. If you get it wrong, at least you are thinking about it. If your teleprompter gives you bad information, that means that you didn't even bother to think about what you just said. You just read what some other idiot wrote without putting an ounce of effort into it.

This is not good.

I think she should have accepted Wallace's apology. By refusing to acknowledge it, it gives Wallace the perfect opportunity to say he was right all along. I don't think he will, but if he wanted to destroy Bachmann, she has just handed him all the ammunition he needs to carry out the mission.

I just pray our other conservative candidates can learn from Bachmann's mistakes.

...two things. She's from WATERLOO..so even if she's not...absent...she's careless in the biggest moment of her political career.

Feel Better?

Excuse me, Hobbes, but I didn't fail to note the actual point of the article. That wasn't the point of my post to MTB. That person viciously slandered Palin and Bachmann for no conceivable reason, and I contend that they're due a reprimand for it.

As a life-long conservative with a (l)libertarian bent, I have NEVER understood support for Bachmann.

Let me help you understand the phenomenon. It is a very simple formula that has proved to be quite reliable in regards to a sizable portion of Free Republic time after time after time:

(Conservative Talking Points) + (Eye Candy) = (Intense and Irrational Adoration regardless of electability)

Case in Point Number 1:

"She can win a statewide U.S. Senate race because the (Eye Candy) Force is strong in her."

Case in Point Number 2:

"She can win a statewide U.S. Senate race because the (Eye Candy) Force is strong in her."

Case in Point Number 3:

"She can win a nationwide Presidential race because the (Eye Candy) Force is strong in her."

Case in Point Number 4:

"She can win a nationwide Presidential race because the (Eye Candy) Force is strong in her."

Anyone who thinks she has a chance in this election cycle does not understand American politics IMHO.

Please go back to the formula and note the term "irrational".

"Understand American politics" is to "irrational adoration" as "understanding gravity" is to "irrationally believing that you can step off the the Golden Gate Bridge and fly around San Francisco".

When you are a totally irrational bridge jumper, you may actually believe that you can fly.

When you are totally irrational in American politics, you may actually believe that a candidate that 65% of all voters say that they will "definitely NOT" vote for can actually win a Presidential election.

In the case of Michelle Bachmann, the irrational belief is that America will be foolish enough to elect an inexperienced, brand-new in Congres, Affirmative Action candidate two elections in a row.

Look at the following list:

List of freshman class members of the 110th United States Congress

Would America be stupid enough to elect, as President of the United States of America, any one of the white, male Congressional Freshmen of the 110th Congress (sworn into Congress in January of 2007) who has no executive experience?

Hell no!

Even with: (Conservative Talking Points)

Hell no!

Then why is Michelle Bachmann even in this discussion?

Because the (Eye Candy) Force is strong in her.

America blundered into electing (Eye Candy) in 2008 and severely regrets it:

"OMG! Look at those pecs! Look at the Politically Correct skin color! Forget competence and experience. Let's elect him President of the United States of America!"

America was that stupid once and will not be that stupid again.

Given the choice between:

A.) Brand-new, inexperienced Affirmative Action candidate chosen for looks

B.) Affirmative Action candidate initially chosen for looks that now has four years of experience in the White House

America will go with the Affirmative Action devil that they know and choose (B).

If Rick Perry (ten and a half years of experience as Governor of the second most populous state in the Union) does not enter the race, conservative America will be royally screwed since the outcome of the 2012 Presidential election will be either President RINO Romney 1.0 or President Barack Hussein Obama 2.0 after the GOP suffers an electoral bloodbath of Christine O'Donnell proportions.

Christine O'Donnell: Beaten like a rented mule in the 2008 U.S. Senate race by Joe Biden. (64.7% to 35.3%)

Christine O'Donnell: Beaten like a red-headed stepchild in the 2010 U.S. Senate race by Chris Coons. (56.6% to 40.0% )

What the hell are you talking about?

If you bothered to keep track of your own comments and the thread of the conversation, perhaps you wouldn't have to ask...

Palin & Bachmann can't speak to reporters. They are both too dumb.

"Probably more important to know who are allies are than to pinpoint John Wayne’s birthplace."

Well, she did say immediately before mis speaking that she was afraid the White House would not sanction what NORTH KOREA was doing. So it is obvious that she mis spoke.
Care to try again?

Personally I like Backmann better now knowing that in spirit she is a serial killer. I think that is exactly what is needed in D.C.

There is a big difference between mis speaking and being an idiot. You for example are not mis speaking.

Kick off the campaign in the “Spirit of John Wayne Gacy” — that is funny.

I concur, though I'd submit this slight variation:

You sound like an Obama worshiper.

America does not need a moron as President. We have that now with Obama.

Bachmann just kicked off her campaign by praising a serial killer. Palin thought North Korea was our ally.

I am not going to vote for a person I would not hire to file things. Sorry. End of story.

John Wayne’s parent were from Waterloo. Jonh Wayne Gacey moved there when his dad was transferred to run a KFC and he was not born there.

Big difference over a small coincidence and minor geographical difference. Yes, I’d hope any candidate would be smart enough to want to know if they they are saying in a speech is super factual.

I also know pointing out others, ie Obama, idiot remarks doesn’t justify it. But let’s get real. Obama recently didn’t know the soldier in his speech was indeed dead when he got the CMO.

Now in comparison that’s 5 billion times worse since he is the current CIC.

What I don’t understand is the ridiculous knee-jerking from “conservatives” here writing “oh, she’s done, that’s it”. Grow up.
