The liberal media are already tipping their hands as to whom they fear most as a Republican presidential candidate and it should come as no surprise that it's Texas Governor, Rick Perry. And just as they did with John McCain back in 2008, they are showing that they are going to try to subvert the Republican primary process by promoting the Republican most likely to lose to Obama. One of their developing mantras to nip a Perry candidacy in the bud is, "Not another Texan," hoping of course to reignite Bush Derangement Syndrome as Rush Limbaugh is pointing out.
And why is it the liberals so fear Perry? Could it be because no other Republican candidate's record contrasts as starkly with Obama's string of failures as Rick Perry's Texas successes? Could it be that no other Republican candidate's policies are as diametrically opposite those of Barack Obama's Big-Brother, centralized national government as Rick Perry's forcefully stated and defended positions on states' rights and the 10th Amendment? Could it be that few other Republican candidates can take the stage with Obama and be every bit as physically imposing with even a bit more matinée idol appeal to the soccer moms?
....And though Palin makes their liberal bowels quiver, it's Perry who truly terrifies them. While they can embrace some truly dumb politics, liberals are cunning enough to sense emerging political danger, especially on a horizon out in flyover country, far from their shrinking coastal enclaves.
Rick Perry is smart enough to realize this, which just may be why he hasn't jumped in already. But should he, no Republican contender will stand in such stark contrast to Obama as Perry.....

Check out what fellow politicians (both Democrats and Republicans) have had to say about Rick Perry:

All (including Democrat opponents) have called him a staunch Conservative, and not one of the dozens issuing opinions has mentioned the vaccine or TTC.
Finally that changed in the 70’s and 80’s as the dems moved hard left and took up voter pandering big time (LBJ effect) and a lot of previous “Conservative” dems came over to a more realistic conservative home. It was an amazing experience to watch as Yeller Dog after Yeller Dog began voting GOP. It happened all across the South.
Having EX-DEM credentials is a good thing.
I’d love to see that picture on a 2012 FOR PRESIDENT button or poster! Looks awfully GOOD.
Over exposed and boring. Enough is enough!
Palin is my first choice, I wont lie. But if she chooses not to run, Perry is my next favorite followed by Bachmann.
Me too. Sarah Palin #1 choice...Rick Perry #2 choice...
Hutchison had no chance with solid conservatives, so her only hope was to siphon off votes from Perry. Thus Medina.
Take it to the bank (but don't try to cash it...)
That's not leadership. That's gamesmanship.
“Perry graduated Texas A&M University in 1972 with a degree in animal science.”
That degree, to me, is worth much more than a liberal arts degree from an Ivy League school, and indicates true intelligence, ability to understand logical concepts, and probably has a fair amount of math associated with it. Texas A&M has great engineering and science schools, and is especially well recognized for agriculture, animal biology and science, (and has one of the best DVM programs in the nation).
“If I Die Young” is amusing ... very teenage. The kids don’t understand why I think it’s so funny.
Note to the gov: Convince me of that, and you'll have my support :)
.....The governor ran an anti-Washington campaign one that included opposition to bailouts like the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), which was passed during George W. Bushs presidency. Perry also provoked considerable angst within his party by using members from Texass Republican delegation as punching bags in his race for reelection.
Lets be frank: Washington Republicans got us in the mess, he said in a fundraising letter that sparked some angry congressmen to call for a closed-door meeting with Perry.
But Perrys anti-Washington rhetoric worked, and after trailing by more than 20 percent in early polling, he ended up winning by more than 20 percent in the primary.
It was clear the Bush brand didnt help Hutchison, as Texas stood with Perry.
So why did the Bush brand line up so staunchly with Hutchison? You can trace one possibility to 2008, when Perry launched an extended critique of Bushs administration, brusquely attacking him for his record on spending as both governor and president.
Let me tell you something, Perry said at the time, according to the Austin American-Statesman, George Bush was never a fiscal conservative. Wasnt when he was in Texas. ... I mean, 95, 97, 99, George Bush was spending money.
Perry even mocked the presidents rhetoric, saying we made an error with that phrase compassionate conservative a reference to a catchphrase from the former presidents 2000 presidential campaign.
Perrys most recent allusion to the Bush legacy was vaguer, but raised eyebrows around Texas. .......
Probably dead-on!
I still think Medina was a paulista libertarian. She caught a lot of attention until the “Truther” slipage killed her in the debate.
Don’t think Kay Bailey really had any decent shot. Way back when KBH first got the Senate, she was the lessor of two evils, but when actual conservatives got in the game, her jig was up.
We may need to do border guards all long Texas US borders to keep out the wannabes, who in the end will want to change us into Kali or Michigan or Massa2shits.
Perry’s got my vote just for graduating in animal science from Texas A&M. Sure to drive the effete liberals nuts
In that case you must have HATED Governor Reagan in the late 70's, right?
While I do think the Bushies aligned with her politically, I believe the outspoken endorsements in the Republican Governor primaries were part of an earlier deal.
Perry backed Al Gore in the Democratic Primary in 1988 -- Year GHW Bush was GOP candidate.
Perry switched to GOP - 1989 (22 years ago).
Perry supported Giuliani in 2007 primary against McCain (later endorsed GOP ticket).
Perry has not minced words about GW Bush.
Bushes and their political allies all worked to get Hutichison elected and against Perry.
